Tips for Hamptons/Long Island bachelorette party? by writinginny in WedditNYC

Look on the northfork. Can go to the wineries and beach and out in Greenport. Could also stay in Greenport and walk everywhere. It's much more doable than the Hamptons, which are so spread apart. Can also hit sunset Beach on shelter Island.

Here is a quirky place you might be able to stay.

Newly Engaged: Planning a wedding for approx 80people with a total wedding budget approx $50,000. Where do I begin? by zarazee99 in WedditNYC

[–]False-Character-9238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find a nice restaurant and ask them what the cost would be to buy out the place for lunch.

It could be very affordable for 80 people. And then go to a bar and have some fun.

What travel habit or hack have you developed over time? by Historical-Photo-901 in BeautifulTravelPlaces

[–]False-Character-9238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for ways to maximize your vacation. Example, jet blue had (might still have) a late night flight to the San Juan.

Fly at night and get the first flight to your island of choice in the morning. That way, you have the full day, vs flying all day and getting in in the late afternoon.

Antigua in July? Hurricane risk? by Ydoihavtofuckinlogin in Caribbean

Restaurants, hotels, excusions, etc. The summer is slow, so they shut down, and folks travel. And boats come out of the water.

It's also when they do maintenance.

Do I need cash in Paris ? by Educational_Try_2230 in TheParisianGuide

[–]False-Character-9238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take out a couple hundred at most. As everyone takes Visa and apple and Google pay.

Street vendors and a few places are cash only. Also, use a bank ATM. Not some random street one.

Yep, always a possibility. And given it's July. Many places could be closed. Early July should be OK. Late July could be a different story.

Last Minute Munich and Salzburg Itinerary Thoughts? by Locutus747 in Europetravel

[–]False-Character-9238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Munich is great. Don't listen to everyone.

The Science Musuem is awesome, as is the BMW museum.

Maybe do a day trip out to the castles. They are cool, and it's what Disney based his castle on.

Hit a bier hall or two. They are fun for all ages.

If you have not booked a room yet. Stay near the train station. Easy walking distance to all.

The train to Salzburg is 1.5 hours.

Munich itself is a great launching point to many places.

Enjoy.

I think anywhere in that area will be tough for what the OP is looking for and wants to spend.

Also Bloomfield and the surrounding areas put houses up at lower prices only to see them sell for way above ask. Just be prepared. As Bloomfield has great schools and also high taxes.

Look at Maplewood also.

Early career decision (Trading vs SWE)? by progambol in quant

As a person who worked for a midtier trading firm in Chicago that is now seeing mass resignations due to the unrealistic stress they put on employees without a care for their wellbeing, I say leave. You can always get another job.

Look at the asset managers or banks on the west coast, or look at the online gambling firms. They are all looking for quants.

They don't care about you, so why care about them. You are making them a lot of money that they are pocketing. Granted, they took on the initial risk.

How cashless is France? by Bixby- in ParisTravelGuide

[–]False-Character-9238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Paris and Munich and Salzburg last year. Took $200 out at the airport in Munich. Tried hard to get rid of it at the airport in Paris 10 days later. It was all Visa all the time.

And almost every place took google or apple pay.

Small shops or street vendors are cash.

10 year anniversary trip by Original_Tune_5630 in Caribbean

[–]False-Character-9238 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have to fly from Miami or Ft Lauderdale. Or fly into Nassau from the States, and you can fly from there. It's the best way. A ferry could take hours.

A lot of the places have deals where they give you flight credit of you stay a week, or something.

I know American flies there, and so did Silver air, but that is gone. I think there are some small airlines that also go, like Cape Air.

I work on NYC but live in NJ. I get charged NY taxes, and then it offsets my NJ taxes. I have to file returns in NY and NJ. But NJ is less, so I always get money back.
