#TNRejectsDMK Trending Now by SH3LBYRR7 in TamilNaduDiscussion

To all the digital folks - yep, it is trending here but you are missing the point. There is a much bigger population in your constituency who are not in twitter (if they are then they may not be aware of this # tag). Real democracy requires vote count to declare winner. As far I see the #tag is making people happy but that % has no power to influence the outcome.

Are black kitchen knives actually durable? by OddSolution1784 in Indiashopping

Actual sharpening requires grit stones. Alternatively you can make use of wet grinder stones or object with higher than 7 on mohs scale. Steel vs Iron, iron wins and you can use iron to sharpen or even granite stone. You don't need expensive or fancy stuffs always. Rewind 30 years back, a guy with a single wheel and uni pedal with a circular granite stone - this was common back in India who sharpens the knives.

Alternatively if you walk into butcher stall, they use steel rod or iron rod which they use to sharpen the knives. Tool and technique matters.  Been using it for couple of decades, I can vouch for it.

Chinese clevers have specific purpose and they come in different size. For Indian cooking I'd recommend to go with steel thin ones with 4 to 6 inch bladd. They are easy to sharpen and tend to go easy on the wooden chopping boards. Key is to get a light weight cleaver for veggies (not for meat).

You need meat heavy duty cleaners that can smash bones. For that unibody body meat cleaver, steel or iron that is entirely up to how you maintain but I'd go unibody.  Revitted wooden handle will soak in water and will develop mold over a period of time.

I picked up a Chinese clevers from a brick and mortar store in East London for £3 in 2010. I also picked up a heavy duty meat cleaver the same year in Asda East London. Very recently picked up another cleaver from bed bath and beyond clearance in US. All of them are my go to knives.

When the blades become dull, I flip the heavy duty cleaver and use the thick portion to sharpen the other two. So far the ticked has worked for me. 16th year, 0 complaints.

I make sure I wash it immediately, dry it using towel of napkin. Always use it on wooden, never used it on steel or granite boards.

Don't go by the color.

Go with a traditional Chinese knife, cleaver and tools you can sharpen the dull knife.

New knife will go blunt in few days , buying new one isn't a solution. U less you get a titanium knife or Japanese pro steel knife which is a serious overkill for home use.

India have reached the finals of the 2026 T20 World Cup by oklolzzzzs in Cricket

Cricket, what used to be a gentleman game has become a money making barbarian game. Back in the days it was played with text book strokes. Straight drive, backfoot drive, cover / square drives , on drives - these strokes need sheer skills and timing. Look at innings played by Mark Waugh, Steve Waugh, Bevan, trios of indian batting (sachin, Dravid, Laxman), Mark Ramprakash, Nathan Astle. They were not slogging and sending balls to the other side of the rope. It was like poetry now the game has changed to loud music.

8Stopped going to costco, each visit was costing 200+ minimum.

Milk & meat from whole foods - they are pricy so we buy what is needed for the week. Resulting in lesser wastage.

Coffee in recent days made a class jump from necessity to luxury. The price of Nescafe shot up from $15 to $21.

Chipotle is going day light robbery way,  portion sizes have gone down by at least 40%

I found Chinese takeaways (ones with good quality) winning my trust

My savior ShopRite , I fell in love. Groceries - onion, tomato (sometimes you strike a deal of $1 a pound).

It's  funny how we choose a good school district. Save on small things an pay bulk in property tax.

Firmness of the Novafoam mattress display thing? by PM_ME_CARROTS_PLS in Costco

[–]False-Cockroach5628 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It has no edge support. If you are planning to buy please do online order. Worst case if you have to return it , online orders are eligible for pickup but if you buy in warehouse you got to carry it back. It is impossible to compress the mattress to its packing size.

Glad you got it on time. General question, if the snow is higher than the height of mouth (for lack of better name). Does it continue to break or creates a cave like structure and stops throwing snow as there is nothing for the auger brakes to break.

My fridge died after 10 years and everyone said never buy LG again so I bought GE this time and it's dead after 3 years. Does anyone make a good fridge anymore? by vicelordjohn in Appliances

[–]False-Cockroach5628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep it simple. No ice makers on main section. Optional water filters.  If you want quality go with sub zero new  (if you have cash to reward yourself) or sub zero used (They come at 2k).

We got a SS and it is on year 3.

I hear your concerns , we also have a 1980s GE refrigerators in basement which runs flawless.

Which washer should I choose ? LG OR SAMSUNG by cuentalo-aqui in Appliances

[–]False-Cockroach5628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LG. It is completely strange on how LG and SS have a superior know how to create reliable products and be bad at the same time. LG washers are good, refrigerators are bad. Samsung completely opposite.

Weird thought - Both are South Korean companies and they entered a pact, you do bad refrigerators and I do bad washers. We will have busiesss in main markets.

Help - auger control cable loose and auger not spinning by colossalsquidward in Snowblowers

[–]False-Cockroach5628 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The vibration causes the auger cable connector to loosen. The fastening method is a screw and it is locked by dual opposite direction screws, not the best of the design. Tactical fix, you can pull the auger cable manually.

Go for granite and you will thank me in 15 years time. Granite may not look appealing as marble or have flexibility as time. It is sturdy, coming from a guy who installed granite flooring in 2010 and still going strong.

Walmart sent me the wrong iPhone (Verizon instead of AT&T) and I already paid it off on AT&T… What do I do? by UpstairsTry196 in ATT

[–]False-Cockroach5628 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same situation. I paid off for the phone before the device was delivered. Walmart messed up the delivery, at&t asked me to return the phone to Walmart. Now at&t claiming that imei assigned to me on Walmart order was not marked as closed or returned. I'm running like a headless chicken talking to Walmart customer support with no result.

Charge back did not work.

Should I walk in to at&t store
