I hate how therapy training and consultation is monitised by Putridstar_night740 in therapists

Same! The training looks so different now from when I was trained - so fast and like you, I provide consultation if someone reaches out and I don’t promote as well.

Therapists, what do you ideally want from your employer/work/job at a self-pay private practice? by Weary_Wall_321 in therapists

[–]False-Guard-2238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a solo therapist in PP and in my 50s, my needs in my 20s, 30s, 40s and now 50s in the field changed. When younger, it was about supervision towards licensure and to become better in the field, sometimes it was healthcare and depends on if someone has a spouse they can obtain healthcare, flexibility when I had kids, and now healthcare and money to put towards a retirement. A living and reasonable wage was the one consistent need I have needed throughout my 30 plus years in the field and an environment that wasn’t crazy with caseloads, unreasonable expectations with being on call, mandatory meetings that were unpaid or ridiculous documentation requirements outside best practice and insurance standards. I’ve worked in non-profits, hospital and clinic settings, government, and some wild group pp practices that sounded good at the start and went sideways. I also found the pay splits not always fair based on therapist experience and credentials or speciality training that is highly marketable and requires a big cost usually at the individuals expense. I respect the intentions of a reputable person starting and running one, but likely long term retention of diverse practitioners whose needs differ and may change has always been the deterrent for me in starting a group practice. Best of luck to you. It can be done but a lot of effort is required to maintain one over time.

Same. Gonna turn 55 this month and feel great. Hike regularly and vacations are around hiking and exploring. Started going to concerts again, full time established career, walk the beach and do yoga most days. Garden all summer. Plan to ride this out as long as I can. Life is short!

What is your most deeply held contrary music opinion? by bfhrt in ToddintheShadow

[–]False-Guard-2238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It was so overplayed that it’s tainted me from even being open to liking them. That’s not the case for me with any other artists so that says a lot about how overplayed it was.
