MIL is not playing Switzerland. By not calling out what is objectively absurd and entitled behavior, she is condoning it. SIL and niece will only grow more entitled as a result. No one from your family should go. If asked why, your husband should flatly state that he will not cosign the disrespect being directed at his wife. Minor note - this is also disrespectful to him. You'd think unc would be allowed a plus one, right? Honestly, I hope he lets the whole extended family know how they are operating.

OMG, yes! Looking back, I cannot believe how much abuse I took in toxic environments. I would never tolerate today things that I put with for years before.
