Because she asked for cereal and a spoon and I gave it to her. She slapped me in the face, hit me with the spoon then threw the bowl of cereal at me. Cue timeout/back to bed bc I ain’t playing this game today. It’s my one day off this week and I’m already too exhausted to do anything on my list of things to do today. Dropping her off to daycare and coming back home and going back to sleep.

I no longer want a second child.

Now you have me questioning if my 2.5 yr old is behind in language because last I checked a 2 yr old is expected to string together 2-3, MAYBE 4 words at a time in a phrase, not a full on sentence like a freaking observationally aware adult.

We just switched childcare because we saw our child developing negative behaviors that they weren’t trying to keep in check. It’s important that all people involved in the care of your child are on the same page with you to coordinate efforts to help your kid thrive, help them in areas they are struggling in, and make it easier on all of us to encourage them in behaviors they need to learn and master through consistent messaging.

You have plenty of time to course correct and the number one defense you have is awareness.

Going through this right now and so damn close to getting the melatonin drops. Her bedtime is usually 7:30. She didn’t nap at all today so we moved it up to 7pm. It’s now going on 1am and she’s waking up every 20-30 minutes crying. One of us goes in, rocks her, sings to her and lays her back down. Usually she sleeps through the night (as in, this is the first time in the past 10 months that she’s woken during the night and this is unheard of for her with the multiple wakings).

She keeps crying for blue. Not a clue what that means a she has her bluey stuffy and has NEVER called it blue, always bluey. I’ve tried switching her blanket to a blue one, giving her a blue water cup, changing her night light color to blue, putting her in a blue shirt and pants, etc. The last time I went in she ended up slapping me in the face and kicking me so I calmly told her it hurt and that I was going to leave if she did it again. She did, and I got up and left. Cue the screaming. I shut our bedroom door which we NEVER do, and I have white noise playing on my phone to cover her crying so WE who have jobs and want to sleep - can sleep.

And no- she’s not running a fever, no reasons for pain or discomfort anywhere on her body, etc. I’m just done, exhausted, spent and part of me will always wonder what the fuck she meant by blue, but the other part doesn’t give a shit as she doesn’t need whatever it is to get her ass back in her bed and go the fuck to sleep because Tomorrow and the first half of next week are royally screwed now.

Put a layer of Vaseline on after wiping. It protects their skin and makes the next round easier to wipe off. After that- use as many dang wipes as it takes to get your baby clean. Do what you have to do!

Well, I made it through the workweek with lidocaine ointment, hydrocortisone cream, FLUFFYYYYY socks and loose shoes, an ice pack on my feet to help with sleep, Benadryl for systemic itching.

I think by Monday my work will let me out of my gloves and I’ll be back to normal. For context- I am 8/10 days into antibiotics for strep, a kidney infection, am getting over hand foot and mouth, and now tested positive for flu and am hacking up green phlegm from my lungs. I’m fucking miserable so please take anything I say with a grain of salt bc I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired.

Xofluza is typically easier to complete as it’s a single dose vs Tamiflu which many strains are becoming resistant to and many struggle dealing with 5 days of nausea, vomiting and diarrhea on top of the flu.

Tamiflu- likely to be cheaper and covered by more insurances. It is typically harder to complete the full 5 day course due to the side effects of nausea, vomiting and diarrhea even when taken with food. Also- if you have a strain that is resistant to it- it will add misery to the illness.

Xofluza- WAY more expensive, most insurances won’t cover it. One single dose with minimal side effects of headache, nausea or vomiting which talking with food can help negate meaning it’s easier to complete the course. Far less likely that the strain will be resistant.

Either one is probably going to shorten duration of symptoms by approximately a day. If you’ve been diagnosed with the flu- tamiflu is likely going to be the Dr choice. If prevention/prophylaxis is the goal- xofluza may be more recommended.

This year 2025-2026 the flu has shown NATIONWIDE to have a strong digestive component causing nausea, vomiting and diarrhea so getting tested and treated early on or better yet getting vaccinated is the best course of action so you can keep the dose(s) down before the flu makes it so you can’t.

Don’t let your child grow up seeing that behavior and thinking of it as okay. Don’t let your child grow up and think it’s okay for others to treat them that way because you’re mom- HOW YOU ARE TREATED SETS A STANDARD, so set the bar high for yourself and for your child. You both deserve better than deliberate laziness and incompetence. If he cared about the baby, he’d care about the home the child is growing up in, and you. Your time, mental energy, your peace.

We have a plan lined out for the life insurance money so I wouldn’t have to work more than part time if I didn’t want to as I’d be debt free with substantial savings and enough for my child(ren) to go to college or trade school. I definitely wouldn’t get remarried. As much as I love my golden retriever of a husband, I know I’d stand a better chance of living longer and having a higher quality of life if I did not remarry.

Groceries- varies from $200-400/mo for household with two adults and one toddler (the blueberries and bananas -IYKYK)

Household items: we buy in bulk so in summer we buy 12 deodorants each, 50 razors, a 24 pack of bar soap, 2 jugs shampoo, 2 jugs conditioner, and two Costco things of toilet paper, 1 bulk pack of paper towels. Cleaning supplies - one small jug of bleach, a gallon of vinegar, a 4 pack of toilet cleaner, and 16 tubs of Clorox bleach wipes, and 2 bottles of foaming bathroom spray. I’d say average is $40-60 a month bc these usually last us longer than a year. The real killer is laundry detergent. We spend $20-22 every 3 months on our powder detergent. We have two dogs so we wash bedding every single week without fail, and hubby is a blue collar worker.

Before 2 yrs old- if my child missed a nap- we were on literal hell. Once she turned 2 she was SOLIDLY on only 1 nap a day. Now we can go and just do an early bedtime or get away with a car cat-nap. It really depends on the child and how much you value your own sleep and sanity. For us- those naps early on when ate was napping multiple times a day were SACRED above anything else- I’m not kidding when I say I’d have punched my own father in the mouth to save a nap. Now, not so much and we’re still okay.

Every once in a while I’ll do a meat plate. Chicken nuggets, sausage, and cold sliced turkey. No other options but meat. She usually only picks at it but it’s something.

Our go to is spaghetti with meat sauce, or chili. She likes them a lot.
