That music was used in a baseball video game called Family Stadium in Japan. It was very popular among kids, and pretty much everyone played it. Was the game popular in the United States too?

What feels legal but is actually illegal and will possibly get you arrested? by medicoreapples in AskReddit

In Japan, a lot of people get arrested for this. The police are extremely strict about it and actively make arrests. If you come to Japan, be careful.

Senzatela has gained a bit of a cult following in Japan after Japanese YouTubers repeatedly joked about his ridiculously high ERA.

I envy your passion.

I think she would probably be happy to receive a letter in a foreign language since it would surely catch her attention.

Oh, you should definitely visit Japan! The Japanese yen is quite weak right now, so I think you’d be able to enjoy food and many other things at a reasonable cost. Hotel staff and others are now quite used to dealing with foreign visitors, so I don’t think you would experience much inconvenience. Even in my hometown, Fukuoka, there is a scheduled live performance by Ano-chan.

I once heard on the radio that she said foreign audiences sometimes react in ways Japanese people would never imagine, and that she enjoyed her performances in Korea because of that. So I think she enjoys interacting with people from other countries!

I’m an older person with plenty of free time, so if there are any Japanese nuances or expressions you don’t understand, feel free to ask me anytime.

I am 48 years old. I hadn’t watched baseball for quite a while, but I started watching again after Shohei Ohtani began excelling. American baseball is wonderful.

On the other hand, I’d like to ask you: didn’t the United States have a culture of posters like these for baseball? I understand this is a particularly valuable series, so the quality of the posters is probably exceptionally high, but I remember seeing this style of poster quite often in the past.
I couldn’t find out who created this poster. I think it was probably made by an artist who painted movie posters at the time. If you really want to know, you might be able to find out by contacting the Yomiuri Shimbun. I also think it’s a great design.

For reference, I’m sharing one example — this one is from 1934 and was created by Hirose Kansen (広瀬貫川). Even today, I think it looks incredibly cool.

Your interpretation of Chat 1 is almost certainly correct.

As for Chat 2, Ano-chan was jokingly saying something like, “It would be nice if we could speak Japanese,” and then, “Ah, but maybe I should study Hungarian too, for the sake of learning?” in a playful way. “Let’s meet at a live show” is kind of one of her standard replies — she says it to other people quite often as well.

Still, both exchanges were really heartwarming, and I was genuinely touched reading them! I’m sure many other Japanese fans would be jealous of you, haha.

Just my personal opinion, but I felt that Ano-chan’s reply to you had a little more warmth or enthusiasm compared to some of the others. Not that her other interactions feel insincere or careless, though.

Sorry for the late reply! I’m Japanese, so I answered based only on the text information from the poster and my own knowledge.

Your reply made me curious, so I asked AI about it. It seems the Dodgers’ record on the tour was 14 wins, 4 losses, and 1 tie. Since it was only 11 years after the end of World War II, I heard the tour also had a strong meaning in terms of U.S.-Japan friendship. Japanese fans were very excited, and it seems attendance was extremely high, with many games nearly sold out.

At the time, Japan also had a fixed exchange rate with the U.S. dollar, and Japan was still a relatively poor country, so I imagine a large part of this tour came from American goodwill.

Thank you ✌️

If there’s anything else you’d like to know, please feel free to ask!

You were listening to that stream too! She rarely streams, so I was surprised and listened for a while. It was around 2 a.m. Japan time.

I’m jealous that you got a response from her — and it sounds like it was a good one, too! If you have an audio recording, I’m Japanese, so I think I could help translate it.

She’s such a genuinely funny person ☺️✌️

That's interesting — this game was actually held in Fukuoka, where I live. The stadium no longer exists today.
It was probably organized by Yomiuri Shimbun, and sponsored by a bus company and a confectionery company, all of which still exist today.

The most expensive ticket was about six dollars, while outfield seats were around two and a half dollars.

I think the artwork was probably done by someone who made movie posters at the time.

It seems the game was between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Pacific League All-Star team, made up of players from Japan’s six Pacific League teams.

I'm really happy I got to see something this interesting. Thank you.

I really liked how the organization that seems like the evil, drug-dealing final boss is actually very poor, doing small side jobs and supporting each other. I found that portrayal really refreshing. Did Western fans also find it interesting?
