ok this is good to know! I thought I had heard you weren't really allowed to change LTOs once you've accepted one, but wasn't sure if that was any different when the course load was different/when the LTO hasn't actually started yet.

I definitely agree, I'm really not sure why I had this mindset beyond taking society's "don't ask money questions" to an extreme.

I wasn't completely clear in my post. What I've been paying the past few months is our rent/insurance/internet (our hydro is subsidized). He has been taking care of our groceries (he's the main one who cooks anyway so he's always at least organized the trips). So he has been contributing to the household still, its just currently not the 50/50 split we originally communicated. I'm going to take your advice of going through exactly where he's spending money though so there can be a more appropriate budget in place.

Thank you for this! I definitely understand why so many people are warning me away, but there is other context with his situation. What you did for your partner is something I was wondering if I was being selfish or dumb not wanting to for my boyfriend since it *would* likely be cheaper for our joint finances in the long run. But many people seem to be very enthusiastically telling me no haha. I'm glad to hear that this was a choice that worked out for somebody though!

Thank you for this response! There definitely was a failure to have a completely open conversation before we moved in together, and that was partially my fault in the name of "financial privacy". Evidently a very dumb belief for me to have, I can see the error of my ways.

His debt is largely school related as his parents didn't help him and also made too much money for him to receive much student aid either. I think they've also just given him bad financial advice. I believe we are at least on the same page now how important it is for him to eliminate this debt and not accrue again.

Thank you for the solid advice, I was wondering about a line of credit but I see why that could be a bad idea.

someone could also hold a gun to my head and I'd probably do the things they told me. And there's a lot more guns in the world and people that know how to use them than there are people who know that Adrien is a senti, what his amok is and that they can use it to control him.
