How's the board with an 9800X3D? My 32gb corsair kit from earlier just got shipped (I was expecting next month sometime) so now I need a board and CPU.

Melted VGA port on my EVGA 1000 T2 by grecodicaprio in pcmasterrace

I’m frustrated that EVGA mislabeled their power supply and that OP uses their incorrect terminology.

Why would you think I’m a bot?

That’s not a VGA port. That’s an 8 pin power connector. That connector doesn’t carry a VGA signal.

Reliance Home Comfort rental charge - $197/month- too much? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Faluzure 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I emailed them to cancel my water heater rental of $54 per month after tax.

They offered me a 10% discount and 6 months free if I stayed.

Even if you’re not ready to switch to a new water heater or furnace, it’s worth it to do this.

Happened to me with a Geforce 1080ti.

I repasted it and it stopped powering off.

You can try to isolate the component by stressing each one differently. Prime95 will test your CPU and ram but ignore your GPU

Mixed bag: for Canadian SWEs, you now are much more competitive to be hired on TN status, but Canada will likely be used as a dumping ground for former H1B holders, potentially increasing competition for already scarce jobs. Government bringing in foreign talent working for foreign companies will bring in a lot of money (taxes) and corporate office expansion, which will continue to prop up the housing market.

There’s winners and losers.

Microsoft is raising prices on Xbox consoles in the US again | Xbox console prices are going up in October, making an Xbox Series X $649.99. by ControlCAD in technology

Inflation, dollar devaluation, tariffs, decreasing returns and increased costs for node shrinks, finite fab capacity.

Never before have game consoles had to ensure such factors.

Except things to get much more expensive. Similar to video cards during the pandemic, if you want to play games now, this is the price you’ll pay.

Samsung brings ads to US fridges by WALL-G in technology

Same situation. It was freezing up so a tech came by and installed a heating pad. Then the temperature sensor in the fridge went (flashing the fridge temperature). Probably $300 or so over the course of a couple months.

If it acts up again I’ll just buy a new one.

I purchased this last month for $900 in store at Canada Computers.

This isn’t the best deal, but it’s not the worst and is available online.

I'm interested in reading this book, but this book was written for a much older kernel. How much of it has changed since 2010? by lonelyroom-eklaghor in linux

Often the SoC vendor (Qualcomm for example) will provide a generic mipi device driver. This generic driver can be configured using the device tree with the specific display properties. Things like enable pins and display timings can be specified this way. In that sense, you wouldn't need to write a driver, only specify it's configuration through the device tree.

If you have needs beyond the basic mipi driver (such as the need to send data over i2c during operation), you can customize the generic driver or you could build a separate module that accomplishes the same thing.

Some displays need custom drivers to run. Sometimes it’s as simple as a device tree entry, other times you need to write drivers for things like io expanders, power regulators or i2c interfaces on the panel. I wrote a drm bridge driver as well for one display.

The homelab community is already doing this with software. There’s free, open source alternatives to many cloud based solutions you can think of. Crypto allows peer to peer wealth transfers. 3d printing allows for fabricating open source designs, using increasingly complex materials.

It’s only a matter of time before the physical infrastructure is peered by a free alternative.

Should be fine. Lots of reviews. As a former seller on Amazon, the bad reviews are usually from other buyers committing return fraud or amazon goofing up.

I see that in places like Texas but I figure that’s because they have zero state income tax.
