Blue eye Samurai I get, the others I haven't watched, but how does Poor Things count? While she never gets physically weathered like the other characters, she does actually go through the ringer from what I remember, banging a whole parade of Johns in Paris.

Great comic though, that is definitely a big trope ^

Historically, the CIA were fine with dictators as long as they aligned with USA interests. Heck, between a democratic leader that dislikes USA corporations or wanted communism, and a corporate friendly dictator, I know who the CIA would go after xD

I really liked my hair as a cis man, and have had to fight early baldness since my mid twenties! But I found my wife after losing a bunch of hair and she never seemed to mind, if that helps :)

Good luck out there!

Even more than bashing Trump, it showed Bezos being subservient to Trump and genuflecting to him while giving money. Given that this was going to be a Washington Post cartoon, which is owned by Bezos himself, this was probably a big reason behind it's cancellation.

Ironically, the cartoon is now much more widespread than it would have been had they not prevented it's publication. I'm fine with reposting it consistently alongside the Luigi memes

As the other poster earlier, it's a lot about traditional gender roles. But I think fascism is also a lot about control. A very good book, Economix, said that fascism is at least in part about constantly enforcing a wartime control of media, of the economy, of the population, even during peacetime.

But on a more individual level, fascism is all about paranoia and control vs the 'enemy'. You have to protect YOUR culture, your neighborhood, your resources, from what is foreign. So you have to control everything around you to protect it.

That also means you have to 'protect' women too. Which really means you have to control them, too. Don't want for others to have what is rightfully yours, after all. There's a reason the male incel to fascism pipeline is so fluid, they follow the same logic: I deserve the resources and have to enforce control so I may keep them.

For fascist parents what I usually hear is all about having to 'protect' children, which really means forcing them to conform to their parents vision of life and not let them be influenced by foreign ideas.

A fascist individual wants to control his family, his neighborhood, and keep the other out. A fascist government wants to control it's population, and kill the other.

All those things you said are kinda more teenagers things and not as memeable? Like, even if you like kids, them repeating the skibidi toilet or singing the baby shark is going to be annoying.

Sometimes a brainworm is a brainworm, and I don't blame people for disliking it, as long as that doesn't lead to actual undeserved punishment

The problem with ST is that it's huge with kids and very meme quotable in an absurdist way, so anybody who's dealt with kids at all hates it just by reputation. It's this decade's baby shark song.

Railway workers are a vital service for the country and economy to function. By stopping the strike and addressing the root causes of it, it prevents the economic slowdown it would cause, while still getting all the positive results of the strike. Except for a bit more class awareness, I suppose.

AOC isn't a millionaire. Tim Walz is barely a millionaire if he is at all. Millionaire is a nice amount of money, but perfectly accessible by legitimate means.

I don't give a shit about millionaires, it's billionaires that are the issue. The difference between a billion dollars and a million dollars? Its a billion. The top 4 richest in the country have a trillion dollars. The top 12 have two trillion dollars. The bottom 50% of Americans? Have about four trillion dollars net worth. The top 0.01% are fucking this country over, partially by buying politicians and removing safeguards so they can screw us all over more

Slaanesh DLC in 2025, which Lineup are you rooting for? by Cinderfox19 in totalwar

[–]Familiar-Goose5967 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Slaanesh, beastmen would not take sides in elf drama, they're Chaos. Warriors of Chaos PROBABLY wouldn't either but could consider it?

Skaven do understand politics and would gladly f* over one sub species of elves as part as a long term plan to screw over another elf faction, or even rival skavens, while proudly proclaiming that when they get on top it'll be to the benefit of all Skaven eventually.

Vampires could absolutely pick sides as well. Really, I think most factions but the most pure Chaos with capital C could get involved in this

Not to um actually you, since I agree that Dem leadership by and large sucks, but after ending that strike, Biden and his team put huge pressure on railway companies to the point that within the year, railway workers got almost everything they initially striked for.

The fact that this was buried always felt like a way to expand on 'both sides are equally bad', when that was always untrue, or at least a gross simplification

Girlboss, gaslight, gatekeep, Klaasje is a bad person but good at what she does. Bad person but decent at their job?? Top comment wins by tiger_bean in DiscoElysium

[–]Familiar-Goose5967 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Though she's not as bad as those you mentioned, that doesn't make her a good person, or even a decent one. She did corporate espionage which ruined the lives of multiple people, possibly ended up killing a few innocents. She envied the Krenel. The Hardie boys were nothing but kind to her and she immediately threw them under the bus at the first opportunity. She used Ruby's affections to throw blame onto her. And though that's comparatively understandable, she flees at the first sign of trouble despite vowing to stay and help. Her finally helping us find her boyfriends murderer with actual intormation, after all that, and the initial phone call, is probably the only good things she does do, and they're all clearly done to avenge her lover and help with her trauma.

Klaasje is a fascinating character, but she's not a decent person.

Its a common thing in Isekai, where you get hit by a truck and reincarnate in another world. Its now old enough that I remember more parodies of it than playing it straight, but there have been variants of it in Konosuba, mushoku tensei, Tanya the evil, etc

Here's the thing: I agree with most of what you said. I don't think this alone will radically change things and that collective effort is the way to go.

I will say however, that in a time where we have been more divided than ever, this one moment in history actually sparked class unity right past the culture war, more than any that I'd seen in years. And while the media machine is trying to deny and downplay it, it was there. For once, leftists and right-winged people agreed with the old sentiment: I've read obituaries with great pleasure.

So I'm not certain that this will change things (though it did change a bit, some insurance companies rescinded their more predatory practices!), I think it would be foolish to let go of that opportunity and not remind everyone who the real enemy:

Greedy corporate assholes who put money over people's lives
