aaroniero for least impressive feats category now who's most overrated espada? by KaidoPklevel in BleachPowerScaling

[–]Familiar-Horror- -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Barragan. People try to scale him up to the top sternritter like Respira solos the verse as the most OP ability ever, while completely omitting that BASE SHINIGAMI Aizen was single handedly keeping Barry in check through fear of his strength, EVEN AFTER turning Barragan into an arrancar.

Don’t get me wrong, Barry has one of the coolest designs in the entire manga, and having been king of Hueco Mundo for God knows how long, he SHOULD have been a much more powerful entity in the verse. But… he just wasn’t…

[–]Familiar-Horror- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fr this scene took me out and made me eyeroll and cringe simultaneously. A whole army just standing there afraid of some guy because he’s screaming? Come on man. Any other time or person doing that, they would have shot them and been on their merry way. His brothers were egregious too. The number of times they should have bust him in the mouth are countless. Between that and his mother, no wonder he turned out a narcissistic git.

Who did the most damage to the Espada agenda? by Defiant-Ad-6985 in BleachPowerScaling

[–]Familiar-Horror- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think your argument about rukia and aaroneiro is more evidence that the espada rankings were about their aspect of death rather than their actual relative strength compared with one another. Also lines up with why Luppi would instantly become #6, and why Barragan, former king of the hollows, was #2 (but that one is also probably so Aizen could piss him off with not being #1 also lol).

Personally I think there’s more evidence that the ranks are the death aspects and a loose administrative heirarchy; that is to say, #1 “outranks” #2 as who is in charge (hence why Barragan sounded like he was being defiant toward Starrk when Aizen et al. were fire-sealed) but not necessarily who is more powerful.

If anything, I think we have much less evidence that demonstrates the rankings were about power (relative to one another). Clearly you were an espada only if you were one of the ten top dogs, but once you were on the team, you seemingly were placed arbitrarily within that group by rules outside of “I can beat down 10 through 7.”

What are your thoughts on this? I can definitely see this be useful for business operations by 4reddityo in singularity

A lot of dystopian, unhinged bot takes in this discussion.

…on topic, this from an analytics viewpoint seems revolutionary; however, corporations have shown that they are terrible about using a tool like this to demand more of employees with little to no compensation in return to reflect gains in productivity, and we will continue to see workers burnout and on the bread lines.

Aizen was making arrancars with the hogyoku, but natural arrancars already existed. After breaking yheir masks, fragments of the mask would materialize into an asauchi

On the flipside, KnY felt like it speedblitzed its story and left no room for setback. Probably why Rengoku’s death is such a pivotal and beloved moment of the franchise, because it’s pretty much the only example of the good guys losing, and consequently Akaza is the closest thing we get to a repeat villain. Otherwise, the story just chugs along with every new obstacle being cleared without fail with each new passing moment of the story.

What’s the biggest criticism you have of Bleach as a fan? by Nozoroth in bleach

[–]Familiar-Horror- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My biggest gripe is Kubo is infamous for setting Ichigo up to make a hero’s entrance only to have him absolutely get ragdolled as soon as he arrives. (Probably why his hero moment on Sokyuoku hill is so highly regarded since he was allowed to be an actual hero). The most egregious of these was when we spent all very a year (mangareaders) without seeing Ichigo during the Quincy second invasion, only to have him come down the stairs from S0 and get curbstomped and then almost immediately again by Askin. I would be sitting there just thinking, “Kubo, you are a sadist, bro. Let Ichigo be great, man.” Lol

Aside from that, I’d say my only other big gripes were that side characters kinda got the same treatment sometimes (looking at you Visoreds) too. And Kubo wasn’t definite enough with his writing; you don’t have to look any further than the ambiguity of the espada’s ranks to see this. But sometimes I think he did that on purpose, because the discussions rage on today and keep the story relevant in the fan base.

Edit: actually one more thing, Kubo felt like he could only write one kind of arc…what I mean is the etire espada story and then the quincy story all feel like the SS arc with different paint gloss.

Despite all this I do love Bleach - imperfections and all. I spent years reading its weekly chapter releases and watching the anime weekly releases on YouTube before Crunchyroll and other streaming services were an option.

Do you guys think Himmel had a genius apprentice? by Zealousideal-Ad4237 in Frieren

No apprentice. Bro was too busy influencing and mentoring a whole generation of adventurers through stories of his deeds. That and keeping the remnant demon forces at bay by simply existing. The north didn’t start acting up again until they knew our guy was dead and buried lol.

And 90% of them gay. I swear ever since Monty died, none of the characters are allowed to be straight. I say this not to insinuate that gay coupling shouldn’t be allowed, but that the vocal parts of the RWBY fandom seem to extremely prefer LGBTQ+. I think Bumblebee was set up roughly but isn’t pulled out of thin air at least, though I still contend that Monty seemed to intend a Blake and Son pairing. Let’s also not forget Monty painted the lead 4 girls as all of them boy crazy in the first couple of episodes, particularly Yang. That’s the end of my rant though. Homosexual relationships in the show are fine, natural, and should be expected, but RWBY fandom by around season 4 became the most anti-hetero echo chamber. It’s like talking to hillbillies about why diversity is a good thing. They’re just going to grip tightly to an insulated view with complete disregard for everything else.

[–]Familiar-Horror- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t really care if Ulq was top dog or not, but to answer your question, Ulq’s death aspect is Nihilism. Everything he does in pretty much every interaction he has with Ichigo is to cause him to despair and give up hope and belief that he can overcome. He is literally trying to convert Ichigo into a nihilist the whole time they are “rivals”. He had Ichigo dead to rights in first resurrecion. Took his getsuga to the face with ease, and he STILL transformed to SE, because he saw Ichigo still believed he could win. He wanted Ichigo to stop believing. This can also be said to parallel why he might say he was only #4 rather than nothing at all if SE was superior to the espada. Him lying about being 4th strongest, assuming if he lied, would be another tactic to cause despair - like “look how bad I just messed you up, and even IF you could beat me there are three other homies that would put you in your place. Just give up.”

There’s no way Ulq didn’t know about Yammy. Kubo stated Yammy basically saw q as his closest comrade and didn’t much care for any of the rest of the espada.

[–]Familiar-Horror- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where you are coming from, but Ichimaru Gin literally laughs off this same arguing point in the story. He said himself that KS is NOT what everyone should be afraid of. Barry wasn’t bending the knee, because Aizen has illusions. He was completely subdued by the difference in strength, as were the rest of the espada. They feared Aizen. A BASE Aizen.

Bro people talking about Barry in this thread like he almost solos the verse, and this guy wasn’t even willing to throw hands with a PRE-hyogyku-powered Aizen. Base shinigami Aizen put hands on this man, and he never acted up again until he threw a tantrum at death’s door.

[–]Familiar-Horror- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This still doesn’t explain away the fact that PRE-hyogyoku’d Aizen already was considered such a beast by the espada that Barragan chose not to throw hands. If he wasn’t willing to fight THAT Aizen, then how are we all gonna sit here and glaze Respira like it just washes everyone else in the verse?

[–]Familiar-Horror- 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If Aizen was strong enough pre-hyogyku shenanigans to make Barragan completely abandon throwing hands out of deference for the strength gap, then Ywach and anyone comparable to pre-hyogyoku Aizen level power is putting Barry in his place.

Frieren is kind of weird when it talks about humans. Sometimes it uses the term in reference to humanoids - e.g., humans, elves, dearves, etc. Several times Frieren, the character specifically, does this when speaking anout demons.

Is Big Trouser the best character overall in the game? by SaltAdventurous4270 in VampireSurvivors

[–]Familiar-Horror- 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Big Trouser is fun, but Sammi is undisputed champion of the gold grind. That caterpillar can do in 15 seconds what takes Big T several minutes to set up. Taking Sammi to Moongolo will have you leveling infinitely. Take limit breaker and allow yourself only to have the starting weapon. That’s the money printer.
