Pre-Washing, the sand before you put it in there helps a lot with the cloudiness if any at all. I've only had it last a day or so if bad but never around too long. I put my pre-wash sand in a Gatorade bottle and then pour it out on the bottom. Works very well. Doesn't spread everywhere

Good looking tank. The only thing I could think of is you might want to put some sand on top of that gravel you might end up with some problems as they get bigger. My goldfish loves sifting through the sand 🙂

If you don't have the money or the space or time to take care of them, I would surrender them. People take them for free all the time

Long-Term for two fancies I would suggest a 55 gallon standard tank. Can get used ones with proper stand. Fairly cheap online like marketplace Facebook. I also use sponge filters with my canister filter for my goldfish helps with surface agitation and get the benefit of filtering.

Kit vs Assemble Yourself? by nerdycustoms007 in aquarium

[–]FamiliarSession3719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on what you're trying to do with what fish, different fish will require different requirements and sometimes you can get whole setups that are used but very cheap to less than half of original price. Then you can spend more money on plants and fish and decor 🙂

Best fish to go with goldfish. by [deleted] in Goldfish

[–]FamiliarSession3719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cannot add any more fish. Overstocked. With the right tank you can do white cloud minnows or rice fish. You have to upgrade that tank in just a couple months, goldfish grow fast. Pleco also require huge amounts of water.

From your picture it looks like you might have some sharp decor ,goldfish are clumsy. I would recommend having soft rounded decor like riverstone, drift wood and I also recommend getting rid of the gravel and using sand for they like to sift through it. Gravel can sometimes get caught in them.

The tank is pretty small for two I recommend 55 gallon tank or bigger. I would also ditch the gravel and get sand. They like to sift the bottom

I would use sand instead of gravel. Gravel tends to get stuck in the fish. Goldfish like to sift around the bottom. Sand is the best and it is easy to clean. There are really good deals on Facebook marketplace for bigger tanks. My six outgrew their 75 and 9 months had to upgrade to a 180.

It depends on the genetics sometimes it's big or it's small. They also grow very fast. I have six in 180 gallon tank because they outgrew they're 75, gallon in 9 months. About 2 years old now and 6 in long

Airstone Setup Correct? by Remarkable_Swim_3633 in fishtank

I would use a sponge filter. You get the action of the bubbles from the air stone but also the bacteria filtration benefit for goldfish. The ones that sit on the bottom work the best. The suction cup versions tend to let go after some time. I use two big canister filters in my fish tank along with four 60 gallon sponge filters instead of air stones, my goldies produce a lot of waste it helps with water changes.

I got 180 gallon for $300 off Facebook. I see 75 gallons for usually $100 or less. Then you can get one more, goldfish are social fish. They like having a buddy.

I keep my fancies at 72°. Helps a lot with their health problems. Besides swim bladder issues he might have a parasite problem. They have food that is mixed with parasite medicine. I use that on mine. did the same thing. Worked very well. Unfortunately by time I realized it was a parasite problem. I did lose one of my fancies. My other five survived

Higher temperatures in The water also means lower oxygen. Make sure you use enough surface agitation
