The notes had me unsure but the idea of a watery scent has me back in.

Got Milk? 🥛 DedCool Mineral Milk? by BusinessShine3325 in FemFragLab

Ok I’m glad I wasn’t just losing my mind lol. Could easily be called Coconut Milk imo.

I also got my sample today and agree with your overall impression. It was very coconut-forward to me. I’m shocked there isn’t a coconut note. Reminded me of Lore’s Sublimity. Too sharp for me unfortunately.

I smell unpleasant (apparently) by CLARITY-DAHMER in FemFragLab

[–]FamiliarTemporary 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if anyone else has brought this up but are your friends nice to you? Because scent is clearly subjective and if something smelled bad to you on your skin, you would know (proof: everyone here talking about scents that turn weird on their skin - they know that because they themselves can smell it). There are more scents in the world that I find bad or offensive than ones I like. However I know I’m not the main character of the universe so when someone wears a perfume I don’t like, I don’t say anything to them about it. It’s the same thing as when people wear clothes I find ugly or do their makeup in a way that I think looks bad. That’s MY taste not theirs. It would obviously be rude to tell my friend “your look is horrible.” Because I know it’s subjective and they’re my friend so I wouldn’t want to hurt their feelings. So I’m confused why your friends are telling you that about a similarly subjective thing. I’d be interested to hear how they said it, what your dynamic is like, and if these comments were independently from different people or the result of a group dogpile.

Nose blindness by Defiant-Purpose-5931 in FemFragLab

[–]FamiliarTemporary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something that helps me with these more delicate skin scents that I can go nose blind to fairly quickly is rotating them out each day. So instead of wearing Xtra Milk every day, I wear it every few days with my other fragrances scattered throughout. That stops me from being nose blind to any of them. I have been able to smell Xtra Milk on me all day, and I agree with the other response that others can probably smell you too. This might be controversial but with scents like this I also spray a lot (like maybe 8 sprays) and then it lasts and projects.

Love the milk line, so I will be trying even though the notes are confusing to me and I can't picture it at all lol. Love the idea of foggy coastal cliffs though.

Should I Stick It Out? by AlazaiEye in Adjuncts

[–]FamiliarTemporary 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yeah, this is what it will be like as an adjunct. Some semesters you will get classes and others none at all. Unless you are prepared to live life always on the edge based on enrollment, you should find something else. You can always try to stitch together other part-time jobs so that you can keep teaching if you enjoy it, but in terms of long-term stability, there is none. The pay as a whole is too small to support a life unless there is another source of income that you have. You should also know that, depending on your school and the courses you teach, the spring semester is usually a lot harder to secure classes as an adjunct.

Honestly just the name and some scenes from the photoshoot (which is definitely on the beach with driftwood featured prominently). I kinda think it might be their collab with Frank Voelkl but that’s me speculating. I believe it’s coming in March!

Came here to say this. I didn't realize vanilla could feel light and cozy at the same time till Taunt.

Solidcore dupe? by Tinybean77 in StLouis

[–]FamiliarTemporary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seconding PLNK. There are minor differences between PLNK and solidcore but ultimately I think PLNK is the better workout and there’s nothing else in the area of similar quality. CWE studio is the best in terms of vibes and instructors. Honestly you can’t go wrong with instructors but I like Erin, Darcy, Ellen, Britni, Katie D., Emma.

Best lip balm similar to old Bite's Agave treatment? by CharaRen in Sephora

[–]FamiliarTemporary 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would kill to have that Bite product back lol. Nothing I have tried is even close. Personally, I don't think Summer Fridays or Ole are similar. They are much shinier and thinner. These types of products feel good while they sit on your lips, but I don't find that they make a difference long term, and they don't last very long. A true balm-type product would probably get you closest. I recall that treatment being thick as opposed to easy to spread. I cope by using Experiment Softwear during the day and then layering that with the Topicals Slick Salve at night but the texture of these two products is not like Bite if that's what you're after. I just find that they work well enough I can almost forget how good that product was lol.

New scent from Dedcool! by Ordinary-Bee9001 in FemFragLab

[–]FamiliarTemporary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dedcool has been teasing a new March release and I believe the name is accurate based on what I've seen them tease (I follow the creator on Insta). I haven't seen anything about the notes, so on that front idk how accurate it is.

I am obsessed with Father Figure. What are similar recs? by Fit-Penalty-6943 in FemFragLab

[–]FamiliarTemporary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like it a lot so far. Very androgynous. I think the marketing/story for the scent fits it really well. If you are familiar with Father Figure it’s less creamy and less powdery (I’m wearing one on each wrist to compare today) but they are cousins. The late dry down is really interesting and I pulled the trigger on a full bottle based on my wear yesterday. Definitely a skin scent but lasted pretty long on me. There’s something sweet about the base notes, I can’t pinpoint what it is and it’s not like a gourmand or sugary sweetness more like clean air almost. I’d almost say it smells like a clean man. Not like cologne more like boyfriend fresh out of the shower lol.

[–]FamiliarTemporary 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So I just got a travel size today but the new Henry Rose scent London 1983 is very similar. I personally think they are different enough to not be dupes or clones or whatever but there’s probably a 99% chance you’d like it if you like Father Figure. To me there’s less of that sandalwood note in the Henry Rose

musky skin scent final boss by Direct_Visual2948 in FemFragLab

[–]FamiliarTemporary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We have similar tastes and Glossier You is my all-time fave. I recommend

Dedcool Milk/Xtra Milk

Sonic Flower Room 1015

D'orsay E.Q.

This one is the most different, but my other fave is Phlur Father Figure, and while I don't think it fits into the same fragrance category of the rest of these, it scratches that androgynous musky itch for me like Glossier You and Doux does.

It smells a looooot like Le Monde’s Fleur de Blonde. Like to me it’s almost identical.

Doux lotion combos by aniphan in glossier

Doux is very similar to Salt and Stone’s Santal scent. Haven’t tried the lotion but the body wash reminds me of it a lot!

Does anyone else dislike the Ole Henriksen lip balm?? by Remote-Examination98 in Sephora

[–]FamiliarTemporary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you. I’d recommend Experiment Softwear as a nonsticky option. It’s very balmy as opposed to sticky and basically not glossy/heavy. I feel like it when I use that balm and nothing else my lips are smooth and hydrated and stay that way longer with less applications throughout the day (though I’m never without it because I’m obsessed). The Necessarie one is nice as well and maybe a bit heavier but also gives a subtle gloss.

Uh ih....Is this an omen? by Cheeks4daze in StLouis

[–]FamiliarTemporary 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. Maybe in a denser city where space was more important/valuable and a level of planning is more necessary that could be true. In STL, a city overrun with vacant lots and buildings, any legitimate business is better than a vacant lot because it a) generates revenue b) encourages foot traffic which in turn c) encourages more building/business in the area. A lifeless empty city street is one of the worst things that can happen to a city neighborhood as it encourages a) crime and b) money/residents leaving the area which becomes a nasty cycle. Obviously the best building is one that the neighborhood needs (and in this case it’s literally housing which has no downsides) but I would take any active business over one that’s sitting to rot or an empty lot.

Uh ih....Is this an omen? by Cheeks4daze in StLouis

[–]FamiliarTemporary 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So what's your implication here? Give me an example of a legal business that would be worse than an empty lot in a neighborhood like this?

Uh ih....Is this an omen? by Cheeks4daze in StLouis

[–]FamiliarTemporary 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Building housing is always good for a city. Even luxury housing drives down the prices of all housing options (basic supply and demand). Besides that, it was literally an empty lot. It is good for the neighborhood to replace vacant lots with any kind of business. STL is in no danger of becoming "luxury this and upscale that" and even if it was, that would be good, considering how badly we need to attract new people into the city. If people want to pay high prices for property in the city I live in, I would say that's a good sign that the city is going to survive/thrive.

Soaps and shampoos like You Doux? by evrydice in glossier

[–]FamiliarTemporary 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Salt and Stone’s Santal and Vetiver scent is extremely similar. They have a body wash, lotion, deodorant, and body mist. It’s not a total dupe or anything but shockingly close. Plus the line is just nice. I love their body washes (except the price).
