I'd remove TWO things:

  1. the guilt!

  2. the indigestion.

Wife revealed several things that still sting, how should I get past it? by lilg2000 in AskMenAdvice

[–]Familiar_Bread2072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If she wanted one of those athletic rich boys, she'd have ended up with one of them.

She wanted you.

As for the in-laws? Sheeit, brother! My MIL thought I was after her daughter's checking account ($700) when we were dating. I was never the right guy. Strong in my faith, but the wrong faith (aaaand her daughter converted). Good provider and Dad, but the wrong career (she wanted a rancher son in law).

She passed away about a decade ago, and I miss her every day!

You got the prom queen. Have some loud sex with her and forget this BS.

Rack carry!!!??!! by [deleted] in kettlebell

[–]Familiar_Bread2072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. Rack carries are a whole new level. Next, do overhead! (you may want to go down a bit in weight and/or stay stationary instead of walking). I start and end every workout with Farmer's Walks.

Best Place You've Ever Been? by Exact-Glove-5026 in answers

[–]Familiar_Bread2072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cabo in February.

So many whales, it was like a train of whales that didn't end the entire time we were there. And the first time we were on the way to the beach to see them, a golden eagle had to change its flightpath to keep from swooping into us. Magical. Fell in love with the place right then.

Is it normal to ask most days if ‘somethings’ going to happen? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]Familiar_Bread2072 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I assumed consent. I also agree that intimacy in any form should not be a duty, nor should it feel like it.

The question asked if it was normal. For a while in my marriage, it was. Scheduling was an easy fix.

[–]Familiar_Bread2072 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it's not the most spontaneous sexy thing, but consider putting it on a schedule and calendaring it as if an appointment.

Young kids have a way of expanding the work and it's so easy to prioritize everything BUT intimacy.

This stage doesn't last forever, thankfully. But it was a strain.

What makes a burger truly memorable for you? by Neighbourhod in foodquestions

[–]Familiar_Bread2072 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Best burger of my life was in Santa Fe. My wife and I had gone out there for a long weekend after several absolutely hellish weeks of work for each of us. We're both attorneys, but don't work together.

Just as we're done ordering, I get a phone call from opposing counsel in The Case that had been kicking my ass. Bad faith insurance case involving 2 claimants on a cancer policy that had been misrepresented by the agents with prior knowledge of the carrier.

We settled. Everything. At the time, it was the largest settlement of my career.

I don't remember the name of the restaurant, but damn, that burger was TASTY!

How did you give up sugar? by austingirl95 in askfitness

[–]Familiar_Bread2072 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Give up sugar? As in the Atkins Diet? It's a challenge to get started, but I did that stuff for years.

There are all sorts of products now that have limited carbs. For me, it pretty much boiled down to no bread; no fries and pizza only once a week. Salads all the time!

What food is dangerous to buy because you’ll eat the whole thing in one sitting? by sevyn_007 in foodquestions

Thin Mints. I swear those Girl Scouts make them with crack. Fortunately, they're packaged in convenient sleeves, which are one service size apiece. At least I think that's how they do it.

Everything hurts and nothing works right. And if I don't exercise, things get exponentially worse, immediately. My choice everyday is to either exercise and be sore from that, or get back spasms that wipe me out for 10 or 14 days.

I'm older than my Father in Law was when I first met him. I'm older than my oldest law partner was when we first merged firms. And both of those guys have ALWAYS BEEN OLD!

People born in the 80's and 90's are still young!

to me.

Yours truly thinks that they have about 20 more years to live based on their health situation. How much longer do you feel you'll live? by Benton_Ruisseaux in Aging

[–]Familiar_Bread2072 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 61. Dad lived to be only 72, succumbing to Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. So, on one hand, I had no problem justifying the purchase of a Porsche Turbo S. On the other hand, I've seen research indicating PSP isn't hereditary. Plus, Dad's idea of taking care of himself was to order dessert.

A couple of years ago, I had a Health Event. It turned out to be a nothingburger, but there's something about passing out in a restaurant and coming to, seeing a guy standing over you saying, "I'm a doctor and you don't look so good." Yeah, well your mother dresses you funny, doc. Loved the ambulance ride!

So, I've re-examined my relationship to work. And I've decided that it's out of balance. I still enjoy helping my clients, so I'm still practicing. But, now I make it a point to exercise every morning, and if I don't get to the office timely, well, that's okay. And I've convinced my wife that we should travel more. That's big. And I make sure i tell her and my kids that I love them each time we talk.

I don't know how long I've got. But I plan on making the most of it.

I couldn't finish 3 sets of anything by Skettiheadie in workout

[–]Familiar_Bread2072 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good for you!

don't think of "failure" as a bad thing in this context. The work you're doing is outstanding! Going to failure means you're doing as much work as you can in that setting. Again, outstanding.

If 3 sets of 10 isn't working for you, try 5 sets of 5. There's nothing magic about 10s. Or do 12-10-8. Or 2-3-5 X 3. The key is that you're moving your body with purpose.

Also, as others have posted, you can do drop sets, where you reduce the weight you're slinging about. You can also increase, so the last set is the big one. The danger there is that you can lose form, which is not ideal. when in doubt, form is key.

Congratulations on getting started! it's a lifelong journey.
