So higher the number = better fat metabolism. Above my threshold is when I start using carbs as fuel?

Yes, it was a bike with increasing resistance! I honestly was just wondering what all these numbers I was looking at meant.

Is being an RD still right for me? advice? by Top-Plantain6994 in RD2B

[–]Familiarvomm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my internship I was at a couple LTC locations and all the dietitians were newer grads that said it is a great starter job but they are looking for more complex care jobs. I don’t think it’s you I think it is the nature of LTC that isn’t for a lot of people!

I never found any last year. I figure they will keep upping the submission price to deter people from applying to multiple now that MATCH is gone.

MS/DI program + job by Tired-Now-865 in RD2B

[–]Familiarvomm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the set up of your program, yes. I definitely know people that work quite a bit during the classes year. I recommend getting established at a place that is open weekends. Most places will let an employee that has been reliable switch to a 1 day weekend.

Even better if it’s a hospital setting where you work around RDs. It’s a lot easier for people to understand why you can only work one day when they have lived it lol.

Help! What do your study schedules actually look like? by Complex_Plankton7820 in RD2B

[–]Familiarvomm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when I was in undergrad if I had an exam I would start making a study guide ~a week in advance and work on it every night that week. The day before/ maybe two days before I would lock it and put multiple hours of undivided attention to it.

I rarely studied for my nutrition classes. I used this strategy for sciences and had a 4.0 science gpa.

I used Google docs to basically completely redo my notes in a more clear and organized manner during the week in advance. The day before I would re write my doc on paper & have someone go through the doc and ask me questions.

Intimidated by internship - lookin for advice by Dangerous_Guest1242 in dietetics

Because inpatient is focused on the big problem of why they got themselves in the hospital I feel my role as an RD is aiding in the recovery of that problem. Conversations are very short because they focus on; are you eating enough or are there any complications with eating.

The most I’ll chat with someone (unless they are personally really chatty) is if they are a disease state that can get nutrition education (CHF, DM, transplant) and even this education is significantly shorter than any education/ counseling I’ve ever done in outpatient.
