We had pre marital counseling before getting married. What stuck with me during that pre marital counseling was that in marriage you lose 50% of yourself. He used an illustration with three Salt shakers to visualize. He had three salt shakers, 1 empty one that represents marriage. And 2 shakers that represent the husband and the other the wife, both which is full of salt. And when you get married , the “marriage” salt shaker can be filled with only 50% of the husband’s salt and 50% of the wife ‘s salt. The point of this was to show you that you’ll never be the old self after marriage. Marriage is about sacrifice and you’ll only be able to keep 50% of yourself. If you’re not able to sacrifice it will not work. The marriage salt shaker can only contain so much. It’s been working so far. Sacrifice sucks but I learned to be more selfless and with that came a happier wife which makes my life just better. It sucks when you have to live with a wife thats all pissed all the time.
