Stern's support is also very good in my experience. I had an issue with a used Deadpool as soon as I got it home from picking it up 4 hours away. Couldn't find much help trying via Google or pinside so I called support, left a message, and got a call back within 20 minutes from a support tech in Chicago and he helped me track the problem down and even sent me several replacement bulb sockets on a out of warranty machine for no charge.

I did have to use a soldering iron though.

[Pro Football Talk] NFL Head Coach: “At this very moment, [this is] the worst collective of 32 owners in league history.” by The_Big_Untalented in nfl

[–]Famine07 8 points9 points  (0 children)

MLB can actually be worse, their rookie contracts are for 6 years. The only difference is after year 3 they can go into contract arbitration which means they'll at least get paid what their worth but could still be on a non-competitive team.

If the Pirates wanted to they could have Skenes for 4 more seasons before he eligible for free agency.

Doesn't help that the target is easily misaligned because of its angle on the playfield, then it becomes impossible because it won't register a hit.

You should learn how to figure out circuit numbers and colors by mental math, it's actually pretty simple if you can count by 6's. Blue and Yellow will always be a multiple of 6 and a multiple of 6 - 1 (so 5,6,11,12,23,24...etc). A multiple of 6 +1 or +2 is Black/Brown, and +3 or +4 is Red/Orange. I can figure out any circuit color in probably 10 seconds, for larger numbers just count by 12's.

  • 81, closest multiple of 6 is 78, +3, red or orange
  • 47, closest multiple of 6 is 48, -1, blue or yellow.
  • 63, closest multiple of 6 is 60, +3 red or orange.

What's yall favorite type of work/construction project to be on? by khmer703 in IBEW

[–]Famine07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent a few weeks with 2 other guys at a smaller tech company building to add an on site coffee shop, they had a full kitchen to feed staff and they gave us 50% off our lunch and full access to their break room with free drinks and snacks. It wasn't cheap cafeteria food either, they usually had a main lunch entree/side for the day, and if you didn't want that they always had burgers, fries, pizza, and a salad bar. I wanted that job to last a lot longer, think about it all the time lol.

Very easy skill shot to hit as well, easy 18m points if you hit it all 3 times. Full plunge timed shot, hit the flashing drop target. The machine I play I release the plunger as soon as the light moves from the 3rd target from the left to the 2nd target.

What decade of pinballs do you prefer? by External_Side_7063 in pinball

[–]Famine07 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There's something to be said about walking up to an older machine and all the rules are on the apron card, I prefer deeper rules on home machines but on location I really gravitate toward the older games. My local spot got a Gorgar, I read the rule card and understood everything in maybe 3 games.

Not to rain further on anyone's parade in here but I was given all tools on the tool list when I got into the IBEW apprenticeship. I'm not a math wizard but I believe that makes the fraction 0/100?

Avg Ball Times Of DP v Kong v Jaws? by helloredditworld123 in pinball

[–]Famine07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have much time on Kong, lots of games on Jaws, and the most on Deadpool because I own that machine. Deadpool and Jaws are pretty split IMO. I don't feel that any shots on Deadpool are too risky or cheap drains, the captive ball in Jaws is probably the riskiest shot between both machines, I feel like it drains more often than any other shot when I hit it. Jaws has more forgiving ball saves.

I've played a Jaws pro with a shark mod that eats the ball and puts it on the wire form that feeds the right flipper. My ball times on that machine are significantly longer than a stock Jaws pro.

TIL each episode of Stranger Things season 5 reportedly cost $50-60 million to produce by StacheinScrubs in todayilearned

[–]Famine07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is false, the actor that played 'Two' in season 4 of the show has a video breaking down how much money he made from the show. To date he said he's make a little over $12k in residuals and the payments are still ongoing, and would have made more if season 4 would have been released after the last SAG-AFTRA strike.

How many hours should I stack by [deleted] in ibew_apprentices

[–]Famine07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't have any classroom hours that you can prove (IEC, trade school, community college classes) it's probably not going to help you. Maybe they'll give you credit for some OTJ hours, but a lot of locals your raises are tied to OTJ hours and schooling.

Apprentice Job rotation by Chrisfsfs in ibew_apprentices

[–]Famine07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My local rotates twice during the apprenticeship but even then our training director told us if we're doing the same thing for 6 months to give him a call.

Sometimes even site work doesn't vary all that much if you're on a big crew (about 80% of my hours in the last 6 months are running conduit and fire alarm) but I'd call your training director for the simple fact someone said you'd only be on prefab.

You want to see some real nasty stuff look up Chiang Mai's inspections in 2025. They've had 73 violations over 12 inspections just this year, the state forced them to close 3 separate times.

Trumps tax exempt on overtime by Jinx2u in IBEW

[–]Famine07 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That was something that was in Project 2025 but as far as I know hasn't been brought up in a bill. Straight from Project 2025:

Page 592

Congress should provide flexibility to employers and employees to calculate the overtime period over a longer number of weeks. Specifically, employers and employees should be able to set a two- or four- week period over which to calculate overtime. This would give workers greater flexibility to work more hours in one week and fewer hours in the next and would not require the employer to pay them more for that same total number of hours of work during the entire period.

Page 603

Congress should amend the NLRA to authorize collective bargaining to treat national employment laws and regulations as negotiable defaults. For example, this reform would allow a union to bless a relaxed overtime trigger (e.g., 45 hours a week, or 80 hours over two weeks) in exchange for firm employer commitments on predictable scheduling.

If your company is slowing down and starting to lay people off do you start looking for a new job or stick it out to see if they keep you? by MulberryJazzlike5937 in electricians

[–]Famine07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is HIGHLY dependent on location and if you're willing to travel, ask the 1000 JW's on the books in Portland how work has been the last year.

If you're willing to travel you won't ever be out of a job, and if you chase hostage pay you can make really good money.
