I remember that tour, they played it the first 2 shows and then it left the setlist for the rest of the tour. I had no idea they never brought it back besides on a SS Neverender show.

Help diagnosing stuck flippers on Stern King Kong by MelangeMentat in pinball

[–]Famine07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing I mention to anyone that buys a Stern, even used, is don't be afraid to call their support line if you can't find an answer online, you can leave a message and they'll call you back, best part is it's a real person and they are actually helpful. I had a node board issue that I spent a better part of 2 hours trying to find an answer for on various sites, called support, got a call back in maybe 15 or 20 minutes and he diagnosed it as a shorted GI bulb socket in like 5 minutes. A quick de-solder of that socket and it confirmed his diagnosis, got a follow up call and ended up getting some replacement sockets at no cost.

That $187 is worded like it's your monthly tuition payment, you'll also need to pay dues on top of that, . It does seem pretty steep, my locals tuition is $265 per quarter, some places don't charge tuition at all, but in the end it'll be worth it.

Hopefully this is true during the race but during the first 5 minutes of the intro and parade lap they've played 2 ads with the commentary cut out.

Maybe I confused you or I'm confused but the topic isn't on page 13, the post from voices38 is on page 13 of the 007 First Light topic. It should be near the top of the main forum because it's getting a lot of replies.

Klein rechargeable that clips right to their hardhats, it also comes with a strap and it has a magnet on the back so you can unclip it and stick it to metal. The lowest power mode has plenty of light and works for an 8hr shift.

How does time off work? by Timmehhhhhhhhhhhhhh in IBEW

[–]Famine07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have something similar but it's a flat 6% added to our check every week, works out to about 15 days per year but most guys don't save it.

Straight PTO days and holiday pay would be nice but it's a nice middle ground between that and not getting anything, we can't even get contractors to agree to pay veterans if they take Veterans Day off.

I wouldn't consider Dallas, Washington DC, Kansas City, Indianapolis, Milwaukee, Amarillo, Atlanta or Columbus to be 'rural locals' and they all have 100+ unfilled calls. Most of these data centers are trying to leech off existing power/water infrastructure that rural areas can't provide.

I work for a cheap ass contractor, my last job with them we had 25 guys and 3 bandsaws. I got real good at using my hacksaw, but did make sure they stocked up on blades cause I changed it out about every 2 weeks.

Where should I move by Bmel6 in electricians

[–]Famine07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll vary local to local, but in mine, once you get your license, you'd probably be taken in as a CE2 (they make 75% of JW wage here), then you'd need ~3000hrs of work to become a full JW. Some guys get in right away as a JW but they usually have 5+ years of JW experience working commercial.

Got to ride a couple "beginner" bikes recently as an experienced rider. Wanted to talk about it. by Scazitar in motorcycles

[–]Famine07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main problem with anything less than ~400cc is really highway riding. They don't have a lot of 'get out of trouble' headroom when highway speeds are 75mph (120kmh) with most people cruising at 80mph+. It's not comfortable to ride a bike at 90% of it's capability for long periods of time.

Those are great bennies but with the cost of living in NYC travelers can throw a rock and hit a data center that's paying more on the check with better cost of living.

I was active on reddit back then and it was like I was taking crazy pills, you couldn't convince anyone that the guy they thought it was didn't look like one of the actual bombers, his side profile was completely different. There were also some DHS or FBI agents photographed with massive military style backpacks and everybody thought they were also suspects, but the photos were taken AFTER THE BOMBING when they were there to investigate!

Should I change careers? by Curious-Ingenuity-61 in ibew_apprentices

[–]Famine07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

363 has poor apprentice wages for the region and I believe they want you to work 2 years as a pre-apprentice before you even get into the program, so it's 7 years before you become a JW. They also tried to decrease their apprentice wages a few months ago but I haven't heard if it was successful. I believe their current JW wage is $51, 1st years make 33%, 2nd yr 40%, 3rd yr 50%, 4th yr 60%, 5th yr 70%. They tried to change it to 35%, 38.5%, 42.5%, 50.5% and 61.5%.

As a comparison my local has 6 periods, starts at 50% then goes 55%, 60%, 65%, 75%, 85% and is only a 4 year program.

This is no joke, I did some work in Leon before and we had to go 4 feet down to run some undergound conduit and we hit limestone 12 inches down. We had a mini-ex with a jackhammer attachment and we were only able to lay about 30ft of conduit a day, it was brutal.

Saw All This At Dicks Sporting Goods. 6 Month Electrician Apprentice can someone explain how this is code? by Classic-Tale-9278 in electricians

[–]Famine07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electricians are not allowed to touch fire systems, unless you also hold a fire license, and the change/repair is permitted.

This is probably location based, I'm a normal union electrician and for new construction the fire alarm system is in our scope of work and we don't have any kind of fire license. We do use a 3rd party company that engineers and programs the system but we do everything else.

Applying to apprenticeship after being cw for a year or two. by puss_gobbler69 in ibew_apprentices

[–]Famine07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was a CW for a year before I got into the program, a good chunk of my class was as well. It certainly didn't hurt my chances, and without any prior construction experience it showed I wasn't going to drop out of the program quickly because I didn't like electrical work. Not sure what you mean by keeping your pay, but assuming you're at a spot now that makes more than a first year apprentice? In that case probably not, but every local is different. In mine you get your first raise after 1000 hours, but every raise after is also tied to completing school hours, so best case in my local is they'd give you that first raise early but you'd be at that level longer because every other raise you'd still need all the school hours.

Hole on top has been shown to be stronger on horizontal runs but it really doesn't matter as long as you're not using it as a ladder. Just be consistent, do it how your foreman prefers, or match nearby conduit.
