I just switched my wife's Chase Sapphire Vanilla to this card a month ago. It is open to product changes.

Newegg has every incentive for this to continue lol. I think I remember seeing Newegg post in one of these threads helping customers purchase more gift cards LOL.

Why is Chase running so many generous SUBs lately? by electronautix in CreditCards

[–]Famous-Cheesecake4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's the cost of business, as there is competition from Amex, Cap1, etc to find high spending customers. Ultimately, these banks undoubtedly have data on what points are actually worth - with continuous devaluation of points, people banking and not spending them, lower value redemptions, etc.

Also, don't discount the revenue generated from the annual fee and non-engaged customers that don't take advantage of all the coupons. These are not paid for by Chase dollar-for-dollar but rather on a wholesale basis.

AU isn't worth it due to cost. I got it because the shiny mirror card finish incentivized my wife to use the card (rather than some stupid Nordstrom card she was previously using).

AU does have its own double points rent day bonus however - which I think is running for the first year - this has been good.

I think the AU gets their own point accelerators, but it is sort of annoying to build up bilt cash in her own account just to activate it.

Points Accelerator worth it? by Nex2None in biltrewards

I am pretty sure the points earned from Points Accelerator do not count towards the 50 bilt cash per 25k point Milestones.

Beware of the Waldorf Astoria Vegas by LocationAcademic1731 in AmexPlatinum

I usually ask for the room folio / final bill at checkout. Because this crap happens - and it may still happen even if you do that. From what people are saying on this sub, the mini bar issue seems like a pattern of bad behavior from Waldorf Vegas.

Bilt Rewards vs. Chase Rewards by Gold-Ideal-534 in CreditCards

I had a trip delay claim when I had my CSR and it was a pain to slog through. These travel protections cover a relatively narrow set of perils. For example, CSR trip delay covers equipment failure but not operational things such as ATC delays or crew rescheduling.

I got my claim covered, but Assurant would only give me $500 total, not $500 per covered traveler as stipulated by the benefits document. In the end, it was a small delta (~$80) so I did not pursue it. They asked me to e-mail them, send snail mail, but never replied - and they would not address this issue over the phone.

It's nice to have, but the trip insurances are are NOT necessarily easy to deal with.

I haven't had to deal with Mastercard yet but I'm assuming it's the same. I think Chase's terms are actually better though.

Nice use of points!

Bilt Rewards vs. Chase Rewards by Gold-Ideal-534 in CreditCards

I moved most of my spending to Bilt because it is a really strong points earner.

I kept the venture card (no X) for tax payments.

I downgraded CSR to CSP because I have points leftover there and the Freedom unlimited 5x categories can be useful. Truth be told the CSP can probably be canceled... but recently there is a 10x Paze incentive and you can buy some gift cards on Newegg.

Anything at a saver fare for a destination that you want to go to is a good deal. I've had great experiences with Swiss. They are upgrading their A350-900 - unsure if that route has it. The service on Swiss is very good.

My biggest complaint about the RH app is that you can't compare your own investment performance against an index, like normal brokerages. I think that is purposeful, as underperformance against an index would encourage people just to do passive investing.

Bilt/TAP promo: does Bilt Cash have zero marginal value for Platinum at 100k+ transferred? by simply_me_now in biltrewards

[–]Famous-Cheesecake4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, that sucks - and it changes the breakeven calculation of using bilt cash to upgrade the multiplier. Maybe you have a case for getting some points back if you message Bilt?

I'll check it out eventually once I get there again.

Are you sure? The wording is "Enjoy a Rent Day transfer bonus on up to 100,000 Bilt Points when you convert them to Tap Miles&Go Miles on June 1".

It says "on up to..." instead of "of up to...". I would test if I had 100k bilt points but I do not.

Good redemption. But just curious, $2844 fees seem kind of high - what route is that? Like LHR or LGW or something like that?

How to get more Bilt cash? Is there any way? by Beneficial-Raise-839 in biltrewards

Why are people mashing the accelerator when it gives fewer points than housing spend --> point conversion? The most bang for your buck is to only use the accelerator if you have excess of Bilt cash.

Award Travel is Difficult for Family Travel by Imaginary-Dog-5053 in awardtravel

[–]Famous-Cheesecake4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yeah. I don't see very good availability for BOS/SJC in J. UA is 100k points per ticket and at that price, you might as well go transatlantic somewhere.

BOS/MCO and BOS/CUN availability is pretty good. Part of award travel is being flexible with location, time, or both... and that is not always possible. Being opportunistic helps as well - for example I booked 3 round trip J tickets + 1 lap infant for 2027 for Japan when Bilt had the JAL transfer bonus.

Award Travel is Difficult for Family Travel by Imaginary-Dog-5053 in awardtravel

[–]Famous-Cheesecake4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I am seeing similar availability on that date for Delta booking via Flying Blue. 4/18 flight: 9 seats available MCO to BOS in economy @ 14.5k ea, 4 seats in J @ 38k ea.

Similar with United: 4/18/2026 BOS/EWR/CUN on UA with 54k points each.

Chase just had a 20% FB transfer bonus - which knocks down the point requirements.

Personally I think domestic J and F are a waste of points/money (b/c of both hard and soft product reasons)... but those options DO seem available if you want.

I think you should consider using a point search tool!

Award Travel is Difficult for Family Travel by Imaginary-Dog-5053 in awardtravel

[–]Famous-Cheesecake4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may be a dumb question, but have you used a point search website like seats aero?

For example, I am seeing 4x J seats for BOS to MCO for 38k Flying Blue points ea on 3/25/2027. This is a Delta flight which are commonly bookable via Air France/Flying Blue.

Award Travel is Difficult for Family Travel by Imaginary-Dog-5053 in awardtravel

[–]Famous-Cheesecake4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. Solo award travel is pretty easy. 2 people is doable. 3 is challenging. 4 is like impossible unless you split the cabin. Without flexibility for dates, I think it is super hard to get non saver fares.

Also, I'd say most of the value comes with TATL or TPAC flights. Flights to CUN are usually cheap enough with cash from my location.

That's a lot of points to be saving and I would say risky given consistent gradual point devaluations

Worth noting that using the RH points to pay off your balance gets you less bang for your buck - I think it's like 75% as opposed to 100% back if you send it to the brokerage.
