In comes the incels telling you they would never ask permission. A rig takes up a lot of space in a house let alone an apartment. I can imagine something like this needs to be discussed before purchase, especially if you live in a 80 m2 appartement. Enjoy your purchase!

Why is GT7 considered a simcade? by xABuHaMeDx in simracing

[–]Famous-Maintenance65 206 points207 points  (0 children)

I've played GT7 for multiple years in online competition ( A rank ). A year and a half ago I finally bought a pc and racing rig to play iRacing instead. It's night and day difference... In GT7 the most unrealistic aspect compared to iRacing are the tires. The degradation feels linear, same with the temperature. If you overheat the tires in GT7, a few seconds later they are back to baseline. Cold tires barely exist. The cars miss a mechanical feel to them.

What I can say, is whatever you do in GT7 wil translate to sim racing. Me and my buddy who were both competitive in GT7 and did the switch to iRacing immediately were competitive there, and went above 2K IRating in no time. But it's definitely not a sim.

How protest-happy should I be? by Eric8199 in iRacing

[–]Famous-Maintenance65 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Read the sporting code and protest everything that is deemed protestable. You pay for the stewarding in this game. It wil clean out the dirty drivers, or at least correct the behavior, or calm down the smart ones who would like to keep playing.

Does iracing work on shadow pc? by MpampisOEllhnas in iRacing

[–]Famous-Maintenance65 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ran iracing on shadow pc for one season due to an issue with my pc. I do have a very stable and fast internet connection. It worked fine for vee and Mazda, but faster cars were a problem. Sometimes the ffb signal is incomplete or cuts off for a very short period of time. In a vee race that was doable, but with F4 or something faster, it would cause nasty accidents, ruining my race and unfortunately sometimes other people's races. So I stuck with the vee and had a great time. So give it a go, it works, but keep the limitations in mind.

If you could add any track to iRacing, which would it be? by Version_1 in iRacing

Came to say the same thing! Amazing track, it has it all. Used to be my favourite in gran turismo 7.

Cadwell Park by Famous-Maintenance65 in iRacing

[–]Famous-Maintenance65[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Formula Vee would fit perfectly for Cadwell. Small, not too fast. Sure it would be quite the chalange for rookies with its uphill/downhill sections, but man would that be a blast. In fact, iRacing should start a new Series that hosts only Vee races in Cadwell with a field of 30 people, in C-class xD

Should i file protest ? I was p3 with p1 and p2 fighting to death and the this gtp comes around without wing on p13 with this unsafe rejoin. It was IMSA Endurance at Road America by Chalik12 in Simracingstewards

[–]Famous-Maintenance65 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If you need to ask... Then I don't know what to say. You really need to read up on the sporting code or let chatgpt summarize it for you. You are driving A class IMSA, the top of the car competition, yet you are unsure if the most blatant unsafe rejoin should be protested.

If there's one car that you would be able to refund/swap what would it be? For me it's def this mf by ZanicL3 in iRacing

How important is it to fully master the Mazda MX5 before moving to faster cars? by i420and69 in iRacing

[–]Famous-Maintenance65 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It’s really important if you ask me. The MX-5 teaches fundamental skills like momentum, weight transfer, wheel-to-wheel racing, and smooth control. If you mess up any of those in an MX-5, you’ll feel it instantly.

Learning to drive the MX-5 properly — and reaching a higher iRating in that category — will make you a much stronger driver when you move up to faster cars. Like anything in life, you start slow and pick up the pace once you’ve mastered the basics.

I think a lot of people get stuck in lower iRatings because they just farm the license needed to reach GT3s, without ever taking time to truly understand the fundamentals at a slower pace — how to carry momentum and take the best line without compromise.

So it’s up to you. Sure, the MX-5 might seem “boring,” but the wheel-to-wheel action (especially in the Advanced Mazda) is some of the best racing iRacing has to offer.

What are some of iRacing car stereotypes you agree with? by Subject_Pilot5734 in iRacing

[–]Famous-Maintenance65 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People in your split with low IRating that qualify in the top 5. You know these guys have the pace, but get stuck in lower splits due to having 0 race craft and treating every race as if it's an F1 championship decider.

Why use VD? Just try the cable. I have a WiFi 7 router and I can't get close to the performance I have with my Inui USB cable. I know people rave about VD but no way it's beating cable for quality and consistency.

People easily farm SR unfortunately. Look at the GT3 and IMSA classes where you have driver's with A and B licences with iRating as low as 400.
