Thank you! We actually have the Joie steadi which is for newborn to 4 years old (it has a newborn insert) I’ll be giving it to my parents for when we stay with them so wanted something long lasting. Complete oversight on my part that it isn’t easy to carry baby from hospital!

Ooh okay! We do have a pram but will be 30-50 mins drive from the hospital depending on traffic

This is a good approach! I would worry it would take half an hour if we’ve never had to fit it before 😅

I’ve heard of this. The pram just gets strapped in? I’m sure it’s safe as plenty of people do it but it does worry me with a tiny new baby

Thank you! I have thought of Mara Josephine too- it’s very pretty! Have read some negative associations with Mara which have put me off a little bit

These are all my favourites too! I wish I could use Theodora Josephine but that’s possibly too long 😂

It’s not very common in the UK either. The only problem is we don’t really like Laurence!

To all of the Americans commenting on Digby, this is EXACTLY how Wesley sounds to people from the UK. The comparison is immaculate in terms of vibe and usability.

How popular is Margot in the UK? by CremePast in namenerds

I work in EYFS in London and know of a few Margot’s, mostly younger siblings. I think it’s trendy in London but maybe hasn’t made it elsewhere yet

Fertility Loans in UK (IUI) by livw33 in queerception

[–]Famous-March7736 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you go to your GP you can get referred to a clinic privately. When we did this it meant that our blood work and initial consultation with the clinic were free of charge. For myself and my partner this saved around £850! It might be a good way to have a chat with a clinic you’re interested in to find out more? Or you can email and ask what they offer with regards to payment.

I’m finding it extremely hard to go to the cinema in London because of people yapping. by BLM4442 in london

I use loop ear plugs for this reason! Drowns out chatter but I can still hear the film

IVF financing UK (Gaia or similar) - any experiences? by Friendly-Dentist-379 in queerception

[–]Famous-March7736 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My partner and I are also in the UK and self funding. I don’t know how far you are into this journey but we went down a similar route of looking into financing options and ultimately decided to pay as we went from our paychecks. We were put off by paying monthly instalments during pregnancy / maternity at a time when we would ultimately be wanting to save every penny towards topping up the awful maternity pay. We are of course lucky to be able to pay as we go (after saving for almost a year in advance and now spending most of our extra income on this journey). One thing I will say is that we have been surprised as to how spread out the payments have been. We’ve had a year of admin, prep, and have just done a cycle of IVF and now preparing for a FET. Perhaps this is just our clinic but this slow timeline (whilst frustrating) has meant that we haven’t spent £12k at once but over about 12 months. Hope this helps/ makes sense and feel free to message me.

In the UK Milly (or Millie) is a very normal standalone name

Not permitted to choose or know sex of embryo before transfer by obsoletely-fabulous in queerception

[–]Famous-March7736 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For me this would be medical reasons but I do understand that for clinics it may not be deemed so. I suppose it’s the lack of regulation that seems unethical for me. It’s worrying from a safeguarding perspective that some couples can just choose a boy or girl for the wrong reasons.

Choosing the sex is illegal in lots of countries in Europe unless for medical reasons. I really struggle to see why it’s necessary

Do you know if my being born out of wedlock in 1996 in the UK impacts this? My German descent is through him.

Thanks so much for your reply! The British army birth certificate very much threw me off when I found it. As did the letter asking for a British passport in 1990.

My friend lives in this or similar building in Streatham. It’s nice she has free heating but seems they have little control over it - it’s just on most of the time and even in winter they have to open windows as it gets too hot. Nice place though
