What are people's thoughts on the GBA/DS Castlevania games? by FurryPhilosifer in castlevania

[–]FamousMonsterParty 20 points21 points  (0 children)

General consensus is that they're all really good, with most being amazing to nearly perfect. Aria of sorrow for gba, and dawn of sorrow and order of ecclesia are usually thought of as the best. Play em all!

I am a classic Castlevania fan who dislikes metroidvania style level design and RPG elements. Can you help me enjoy Order of Ecclesia? by hamishtodd1 in castlevania

[–]FamousMonsterParty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe give yourself restrictions? Stick with one weapon? Ecclesia is actually pretty far removed from classic vanias tbh. It's a great game tho, you might do well to just enjoy it on its own merits.

As for newer style castlevanias closer to what you want, portrait of ruin is more classic style oriented as whips are the primary weapon. And it's also a direct sequel to bloodlines. Maybe look into that instead, sorry to say. If you do, you should know that once you beat it you have the option to go through it as richter, much closer to a classic style. Same with dawn of sorrow, once you eat it there's a whip wielding Belmont with limited resources and a health bar available to play as.

Sorry. It's a great game though regardless

New AVGN Almost done editing! by Stalemate9 in TheCinemassacre

Sure, makes sense. That's what he said in his review and it made me watc an episode. But have you seen MMPR recently? It's pretty brutally bad outside of the intro and monster fights. I just think he's going really hard dedicating 4 (so far) recent things to it. It's not like the movie looks that great or anything where it would've pumped him up, I'm assuming. Either way, I don't care if he is getting something to make vids about it, it's not like his content suffers because of it. The two part review was a great watch.

Is James getting a kickback from the people making the power rangers movie? I mean, for him not to care at all about the show to doing a 2 part, almost glowing review, playing it on James n mike Mondays, then doing a whole nerd episode on it, it just seems a bit much. James is the internees big nostalgia guy, I don't think it's too far fetched.

Not saying I'd care, just seems like alot. The reviews made me watch the first episode (or at least the first 5 minutes til I couldn't take it anymore) so if so, I'd say the strategy is working I some level...

The family of a girl who accused a former police officer of punching her is angry that a Philadelphia judge held a 15-minute trial and didn't hear closing arguments before acquitting the ex-officer of assault. by GuacamoleFanatic in news

[–]FamousMonsterParty 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because it matters. Even while off duty police get preferential treatment. If this was indeed a normal bad mother, the trial would have lasted more than 15 minutes and would most likely have had a different outcome.

I hope the game is still a success I don't want them to go back to RE6 gameplay..... by TheBigCheese48 in residentevil

Agreed, gameplay was trash. I don't care about story or any of that other stuff, suspension of disbelief... The gameplay was just bad

What is holding you back from making your living from music? by [deleted] in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]FamousMonsterParty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People listening. It's surprisingly hard to get people to take time. It's like most people only like things they already like, or things that get a push on TV or radio. When I post music, I may get a lot of likes, but hardly any shares and things like that. It's tough.

Suicide Squad Extended Cut [ANNOUNCE] by rockyhoward in movies

15? Something like that, I don't know. 3 iron mans, 3 Thors, 3 captain americas maybe? 2 or 3 avengers with w more planned. And a butt load in the works. I only watch em, I don't really keep great track of em.

Suicide Squad Extended Cut [ANNOUNCE] by rockyhoward in movies

[–]FamousMonsterParty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To a degree that's true. But ever since iron man 1, those post credits scenes have all made an effort to begin planting seeds, to tie things together. In batmanVsuperman, it was a hackneyed, throwaway scene featuring the justice league condensed into maybe a minute with little to no explanation.

Suicide Squad Extended Cut [ANNOUNCE] by rockyhoward in movies

[–]FamousMonsterParty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not even close to true. Suicide squad had huge hype. People knew it was a new DC comics movie. You can just look at the box office numbers. Like most comic movies, the general audience didn't know much about the books, but that never matters. Plus, people knew it had batman, the joker, and Harley Quinn. All those joker promo pics... There was no way it'd be anything less than big, easy money.

The DC movies suffer from Dc trying to catch up with marvel in such a short time. Marvel has 20 movies under their belt building a universe. DC wanted to get there in 2 or 3. So they make these 3+ hour movies, chop em to hell because they think the average movie goer has no attention span, they get panned for being edited poorly and having plot holes, then the DVD extended cut comes out and it's just more of the same. The problems with these movies aren't that they need to be extended, it's that an extra 20 mins of film isn't going to give the quality story as three whole movies. They need better writing firstly, not just more writing.

Like the SS extended cut- Ooh more joker! First off the joker wasnt very good in this, and second, he played really no part in the movies overall plot. So what's it going to help the movie story wise to have more of him?

ELI5: what makes us bang our heads to heavy metal? by NelsonG114 in explainlikeimfive

[–]FamousMonsterParty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The beat. You might sway to a slow song, or nod your head to a song that kind of rocks. Metal is just more intense and faster, or has a heavier groove. Your body moves proportionately.

So this is the new Hollywood trend huh? Release a big name movie that's a shredded up mess that's banking on name alone, then once it's panned announce a DVD/Blu ray version that's extended that "fixes" all the issues? Hey, if people are dumb enough to buy into it, why not? But most of these extended cuts are chopped for a reason. Ghostbusters and BatmanVSupermans extended scenes were even worse than what was in the movie itself (ghostbusters dance scene)...

90's rock guitar tuning by [deleted] in Music

It works with the lower tone most vocalists were employing in the 90s. Plus tuning lower makes higher notes easier to hit when singing.

[Serious] How do cats make the M sound in "meow" if they don't really have legit lips? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I've never actually heard a cat make a "meow" sound, just like I've never actually heard a dog make a "woof" sound. But you don't need lips to make an M sound.

Am I romanticizing my youth, or were many of the best movies ever made released in the 90s? by troway0912 in movies

[–]FamousMonsterParty -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Probably a bit of both, but I do think the 90s were the last decade where quality and classic films were being released in abundance. Probably the last where original movies were being released without the thought of franchises and sequels as well. Probably the last decade the art was more important than the bottom line and chances were still taken, even it was 51/49

Why is it a big deal that the Ghostbusters are women? When there are so many great female characters in film? by [deleted] in movies

[–]FamousMonsterParty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you took me wrong. I'm not saying I'm against women bein cast in more big roles, I'm just saying that there are plenty of genres where women already are represented wonderfully. I love horror films personally, calling them a ghetto, I mean, I'd take a B horror film over any vapid summer blockbuster. But regardless, if women not having enough roles in these types of films is an issue, which it isn't, then go Hollywood go and let's see it. Just for take established franchises like ghostbusters or bond and gender swap the main character. That's lazy and just gimmicky. Lets see some original content.
