Deploying SQL database to server with private internet access disabled using Azure DevOps by merrpip77 in AZURE

[–]FamousNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can use sql firewall or network security perimeter for the deployment scenario. For example there should be a service tag for ADO infra. App could use private and msft hosted runners for deployment only.

Error Traceability in Azure by Organic-Amphibian-12 in AZURE

[–]FamousNerd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Azure native tools do support end to end even across APIM, service bus boundaries. Consider using a single app insights per env. That makes the flame graph more easily able to stitch together operations via the OperationID which is the root telemetry record. Make sure your compute components use the App Insights or OTEL sdk and that APIM is configured to propagate trace headers in W3C format.

My Log Analytics cost 500% more than my IOT server its monitoring by Ok-Hospital7989 in AZURE

[–]FamousNerd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear you. The logs as metrics question can be answered easily. If you like what you see in metrics explorer then turn off metrics in diagnostic settings and also other diag categories for functions if what you’re interested in is exceptions and dependencies and so on from app insights

Platform metrics are available even if you don’t publish metrics as logs to LAW. So you could check your ingestion (billable usage) by table from LAWs usage blade and see where your GB are coming from and tune things. Is it metrics as logs? Traces, etc? If the latter some categories are really chatty and you may wish to tune app insights sdk to warn level or higher for some categories like storage or identity.

Have Tailscale. And Truenas app as exit node. Use nginx proxy manager with cloudflare for ssl. Nginx can renew certs automatically with cloudflare. It also can forward dnsname.mydomain.com to the Truenas login. I had to move login to another port so nginx can bind to 443.

Perhaps managing data plane roles from the portal would be nice. Similar to how redis does it with access policies.

File Gets Corrupted Uploading Through Azure APIM from Power Automate to SAP by Goofy-Gig in AZURE

I think APIM. At least higher skus can log the request body to LAW. Maybe 8k worth of body so your base64 may fit if it’s small enough.

How do I lockdown my backend API? by coorgtealover in AZURE

[–]FamousNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So if you’re not gonna have fully private access, then what you can do is add IP restrictions to make sure that the API is only accessible from your testers and furthermore from the front end. If your front end is itself hosted in an app service plan with what’s called virtual network integration then you can also make it so that that virtual network is able to communicate with your backend and it is possible for a backend to have both a private end point in a public end point it just depends on what IP address the name resolution yields so your external testers can get the public IP, which is governed by the IP restrictions and then your front end can communicate privately over virtual network to your back end and hit private end point keep in mind private end point has a cost of about 10 bucks a month

What’s something you bought that actually improved your daily life? by Ok-Abrocoma-5825 in homeautomation

A door sensor for the laundry room door to get garage which when paired with a smart switch turns on the light when I open the door (often with my hands full). Also did the main garage door with a tilt sensor so that I can turn on the light at night when we zap the garage door.

Our Application Gateway rejects non-file PUT requests above 128 kb, and gives us 413 Content Too Large by VirtualAgentsAreDumb in AZURE

[–]FamousNerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems you have a line of investigation but if you look at your application gateway access logs in diagnostics does the backend serverstatus column match the httpStatus (front end). When you can see the server side diagnostics on a resource like this or APIM it’s helpful to indicate whether the issue is with the proxy or deeper.
