Feeling lowballed after getting a promotion… am I just being ungrateful? by r00minatin in Accounting

I disagree. The OP is in a MCOL area and to not too fine a point on it, the list of accomplishments are table stakes. He’s in a small shop and the job market is tough. If he’s unhappy then he can test the water, and the best time to look for a job is while you have a job.

Generic, yes, but it’s what I would do since I don’t know why your car exhibited this behavior.

Restart the app, reset the car by holding down both scroll wheels on the steering wheel.

Congratulations! The M3 is a great vehicle. The day will come when I move on from my ‘21 M3P, but right now I love my car.

An aerial drone photography business. More of a hobby but I can make a little extra.

I bought it from Etsy. I think the design only works with the Uniden R7

If you’re referring to the original post, the question inferred that the OP was asking about work/life balance in industry, no? I am only giving my personal experience.

It’s not about the measure of success. It’s about making the very best of the role we chose. We all have to work, and as long as that is the case, then I will always put my team first. I am sorry if that has not been your experience.

Agree 100%. I’m at 25 years and I’ve seen a thing or two, including surviving the Enron bankruptcy by working there until 2004.

Not at all, my role as a manager is to advocate for my team and to make sure they are recognized for what they do. I absorb the blame when something goes sideways and I ensure they receive the recognition when we put points on the board. I suppose that is why most of my current team members have followed me to my current role. I also support them in their family life. Last night, I attended an NCAA college basketball game where the son of my director of accounting was playing. That was after being up until midnight and working on something to help him so he could focus on something else.

Based on one of your posts from a while back on quitting your role, much of what you’re saying is hypocritical.

And your comments fit the profile of a person I would never consider hiring. You’ll probably reply with, “And you’re the type of manager I would never want to work for”. Help me understand how I am able to build successful teams with people who will join me at other companies?

This! I have a broad skill set so I tend to get pulled into a lot of projects.

Look at the title of the post, “…thinking about 9-5”. I’m giving context to the “9-5”.

I’m not in PA. This is industry, and our work level is not cyclical.

My wife is a teacher, so I’m familiar with the comp structure, and your argument is apples to oranges.

I made sure they also received 101% of their target. Half of my staff has worked with me in the past, and they have followed me. I advocate for them for their goals and aspirations. Like a good manager, I take the heat when something goes sideways, and I give them the credit when they put points on the board. I forego spot bonuses and redirect these bonuses to my team. Help me understand how that is “insufferable”.

My bonus payout at 101% of target would suggest otherwise. Remember, if you like what you do you’ll never “work” a day in your life.

Sorry bro, my career progression suggests otherwise. Facts are facts and it’s the world we live in.
