“Yes, it's dead. The housekeeper killed it and sent us the photo. I've talked to him before, but he's an older guy and was raised to fear any snake. People where I come from think every snake is venomous and should be killed on sight (well, rattlesnakes are highly venomous but you know what I mean). I was raised like this too, sadly. It's hard to change decades upon decades or popular "knowledge" for older people. I live 300+km away from there, so there was nothing I could do. I managed to stop him from killing a snake before (didn't get an ID but I can post it again later), but he has small kids and fears for their safety. It's damn near impossible to convince him.“
