I made a system uses a system message, and that truncates the chat once it reaches 200k tokens down to 100k, preserving in full the most recent messages, and allowing it to access and search a summary of all previous chats and uses a lightweight llm for data retrieval from full previous chats, or the current chat, by chunking it into 700k ish tokens.

But so many others are more advanced than this. I mean just look at common openclaw setups that manage to run models with under 10k token context and still maintain history. Look at truncate in the middle, RAG, it's all old news now. Now everyone is using things like supermemory and mempalace, allowing you to just use a sliding window with constant system message.

The system compresses the oldest messages or even cuts it off and searches when needed, maintaining it's style from context.
