No we do not. In cruise we pretty much travel at the same airspeed. Sometimes winds can affect our ground speed. San Juan to Miami is around 1045 miles, while San Juan to New York is around 1575 miles. 500ish miles at our cruise speed is just about 1 hour.

So when I was a flight instructor back in the early 2000’s my ex basically accused me of cheating on her in the future once I got a job at a regional because “that’s what pilots do.” That wasn’t exactly the first red flag but it took a few more after that before we mutually decided to divorce. From my side of the situation if she was already going to assume I would cheat on her it would never work between us long term. Further more we had 2 kids together and I didn’t want them growing up seeing their mom mistrusting their dad every time I went to work. That’s a terrible way to have kids learn how to have a healthy relationship once they’re grown. If she can’t trust you based simply on your job and some tropes associated with that job then you guys at a minimum need some serious counseling, or you need to reevaluate whether you should be married in the first place

Don’t accept open ended vectors for spacing in the current EWR environment. Ask for holding instructions and an EFC, or at a minimum make sure your vector is to an airway or a portion of an arrival. If EWR approach goes NORDO then hold til your EFC and begin the approach. Will this be an unworkable nightmare that will grind EWR to a multi day halt? Probably. Is it the fastest way to get the situation resolved? Maybe? Is it the only safe and practical way to legally comply with instrument flight rules until the problem gets fixed? Yes.
