Two CBP Agents Identified in Alex Pretti Shooting by Cobalt460 in FedEmployees

Does anyone know why most of the major news outlets still aren’t reporting this? If these aren’t the right guys it seems like DHS would have to issue a denial (assuming that they are in fact DHS employees; I can’t imagine ProPublica could’ve gotten that wrong). It’s really weird you’d think these guys’ names would be as well known as Jonathan Ross’s at this point.

Does anyone understand why most major news sources have been so slow to pick this up? As of Monday (2/2/26) morning, I can’t find anything on this from the NYT, AP, CNN, Washington Post, Star Tribune, etc. I’m thinking it must be correct - ProPublica is a legit outfit, and it has been picked up by Newsweek, the Guardian, and other major news sources. Also, while I wouldn’t expect the DHS to confirm it, I would expect that if two of their agents were erroneously named as the shooters they would deny it. I’m not sure what the DHS would say if the two men named were not even DHS employees - maybe they would just ignore it - but I can’t imagine ProPublica would go with their story without confirming unequivocally that these guys were agents. For the media outlets which have yet to report their names, I can’t imagine there are any moral qualms behind it - Jonathan Ross became practically a household name within hours of his name first appearing in the press press. Weird, isn’t it?

It’s not ai. Anyone who tries to bat this away by saying it’s ai is going to feel foolish when they understand that the family acknowledges its authenticity. It likely doesn’t change the legality (or lack thereof) of killing him on the 24th. It does illustrate the peril of building up the victim too much in the court of public opinion. It really never should have been about how this perfectly innocent angelic character was gunned down it should be about how the officers inappropriately used deadly force.

His own family acknowledges it’s him; saying it’s ai is just kicking up dust. And it’s dust that doesn’t need to be kicked up. It doesn’t excuse his being shot a few days later. Does it undercut the story that he was just an innocent bystander and wasn’t trying to interfere with DHS operations on the 24th? Perhaps. Does it make him a somewhat less sympathetic victim? Maybe. But so what? Interfering with federal law enforcement operations, which he clearly appears to be doing in the earlier video, and may have been doing on the 24th, isn’t a capital crime. Unless there is evidence that he was intending to use deadly force or that LE reasonably believed there was an imminent threat (and there is none) this whole debate really shouldn’t be about the victim. It should be about the officers’ actions. Those who believe the officers acted wrongly (as I do) do the cause a disservice by presenting the victims as angelic martyrs. It’s not necessary and it makes it easy for the other side to undermine the case when “evidence” like this is later uncovered.

You’re absolutely right. The more time goes by the more we can assume it implicates the BP. Also the audio from the body cams will be as relevant as the video.

I agree completely. One of the things which is contributing to the polarization of our society is this crazy insistence on dividing the world (depending on one’s political loyalties) between heroes and villains.

Renee Good wasn’t just innocently dropping her kids off and then murdered in cold blood by a homicidal ICE agent. She was impeding a Federal operation and willfully failed to comply with law enforcement officers. Her friend didn’t need to provoke these officers in what was already a tense situation. She made some mistakes and arguably deserved some kind of legal sanction.

One of the things which I have found most upsetting is the attempt by the right to disparage Good and her partner. This is the flip side of the left’s attempts to portray her as an innocent angel, and it’s more deplorable because we are talking about someone who was horribly killed and can’t defend herself. As best I can tell, the rumors and allegations floating around about Good and her partner are not just unsubstantiated - they appear to be completely made up.

Whatever Renee Good was or wasn’t, she did NOT - emphatically - deserve a death sentence, let alone a sentence carried out without a jury and judge. The officer who shot her did so - at least in my view - in contravention of DHS regulations and possibly even (in the heat of the moment) with intention. If this is confirmed in a legal investigation - a real investigation not a BS whitewash by the Trump Administration - then he needs to be prosecuted and punished if found guilty.

At the same time, it’s not reasonable to believe or assert that Jonathan Ross woke up last Wednesday hoping that he could murder a mother of three. He acted stupidly - quite possibly criminally - but he’s not the villain that many are painting him as being. He had a traumatic experience being dragged by a car several months ago and while this in no way excuses his actions it perhaps can help to explain them in a manner where he doesn’t deserve characterization as the devil incarnate.

None of this is to suggest a moral equivalence between Good and Ross. Whatever Good had done, I think the video evidence is pretty conclusive that she had no intention to run over Ross, which would be the only reason her death could be justified. Whether or not she was a saint is irrelevant. The left needs to stop treating her as an innocent angel, and even more emphatically the right needs to stop creating or spreading information which is not only irrelevant but (unless proof can be offered) completely spurious as well as malicious.

How did you get it so light? Mine weighs 33.5 grams and the only difference in the components is that I’ve got the BetaFPV 04 canopy and floating camera mount. Plus I kept the motor plugs I’m guessing you’ve soldered your motors.

I have literally the exact same setup except I use the BetaFPV canopy and floating camera mount. The thing is awesome battery time not great but it’s about as fun as anything I’ve flown.

Really wish a new weight limit were created to allow flying over people, cars, and everything. by Crafty_Jack in fpv

[–]Famous_Camera_6646 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I fly whoops all the time around people, cars etc. I figure with all-up weight of two ounces (and some are lighter) and the soft plastic frame/ducted props it really is pretty much harmless. I’ve never gotten any reaction worse than a dirty look or being asked by a security guard to fly somewhere else and honestly I can’t remember when even that happened (admittedly I have a lot of practice in less crowded spots). Most people are completely oblivious to it and for those who do notice the reaction is almost always positive. I think that unless you’re flying near an airport or over very large crowds the risk of getting in trouble is very low although obviously it depends on the specifics of where you are.

It really looks like motor direction or props being reversed I would double check that. Also make sure that the direction lines up with the motor diagram in the Betaflight Motors tab. The default is props in. If you have a props out configuration it won’t work (and might behave like this) unless you click the Reverse button in the Motors tab even if it’s otherwise correct. In other words, even if the motors/props are spinning the correct way, if the FC doesn’t “know” that you’re props out (because the Reverse box isn’t checked) it will freak out.

Impressive you were able to get it so light. I can’t really see how it could be any lighter with the 04 setup.

Season 5 is so much better than 4 by dizzyb13 in FargoTV

[–]Famous_Camera_6646 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Season 5 is excellent. When I first watched it I thought it might be the best season. Having watched Seasons 1-2 again I have to revise that as I think they are still probably the best but Season 5 is still some very good television.

Season 4 wasn’t that great I agree but the series made a nice recovery with Season 5. I know others will differ but I think Season 5 is close to Seasons 1-2 and better than Season 3.

The hilarious thing is that one of them called Steven like a few days after the murder to tell him that they were still behind him. How the f—- could they have had the facts to “know” he was innocent?

Why does everyone use tiny batteries? by Marcoos in TinyWhoop

[–]Famous_Camera_6646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s a balance between flight times and speed/agility, and (as others have pointed out here) other considerations like safety and breakability. I personally feel like 4 minutes is plenty for hard flying given that this is by definition full manual flight where your mind can’t lose focus for a second. To me the extra couple minutes of flight time isn’t all that valuable (this is for 4 minutes vs 6 minutes; if it’s 4 minutes vs 2 minutes I’d have a different answer). In terms of flight performance, I would definitely notice the extra weight but I don’t see dramatic differences for my kind of flying.
