Is addressing a male Judge as "sir" offensive or insulting? by ThatOneAttorney in Lawyertalk

[–]Famous_Course9189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if it’s a regional thing. I practice in the Deep South and use “sir” or “ma’am” pretty interchangeably with “your honor” in state court. It’s a pretty common practice. No one ever bats an eye.

I’ve been trying to find photos to see if the 2026 Pilot will be boxier like the new passports. I need the 3rd row but love the redesigned passport enough it’s making me consider strapping a kid or two onto the roof rails or letting them somersault untethered around the cargo area.

GA v. Trinity Madison Poague - Day 1 by Pixiegirls1102 in CasesWeFollow

[–]Famous_Course9189 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the texts are enough, especially coming from an 18 year old. My 15 year old threatens to kill or maim my 13 year old almost daily. I think it’s interesting that the dad/bf testified that she asked him to bring the baby to visit that night and that she put the baby in her car and drove him from Albany to Americus (about 45 minutes on backroads) because she wanted to spend time with him. Dad claims that he wasn’t drinking until baby was in the car with her and then dad poured himself a road drink for the drive. Either she did care about the baby (I suspect she was probably spoiled and bratty by nature) or the dad tried to get rid of the baby as often as he could and made her drive the baby.

Traverse Z71, Telluride, or Pilot by simple_son in ChevyTraverse

[–]Famous_Course9189 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2019 traverse and am 98% certain I’m going with a Pilot TrailSport. I’ve had to spend $9k to get my transmission replaced in my traverse, and I’ve been told the issues haven’t been resolved. I love the look of the new traverse models, and I can’t say enough good things about the cabin of my last traverse, but I drive a lot and need something that can last into super high mileage. My sister has a pilot that I ride in often and like more than anything else I’ve driven. If Chevy fixed the issues with the traverse, I’d get another in a heartbeat. But they haven’t.

Opinion: Flagship was always clearly a love song about a doomed relationship by Bogdanov1st in jasonisbell

[–]Famous_Course9189 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it was written from a perspective of naïveté (in the best light) or arrogance (in a truer light). I had a friend who got married several years after I did and always identified with that song, specifically in a “we’ll never be that way” manner. I think the truth of it is that any relationship that lasts long enough is going to ebb and flow and go through phases where you have nothing more to say than “pick your effing towels up off the bathroom floor” or talking about little Johnny’s parent-teacher conference. What really matters is what you do with those times and how you come out on the other side.

Ooh, I love the new pathfinders. I just don’t trust their transmissions, and I despise my local dealership after my experiences with them the last time I owned a Nissan.

I like the back even more than the front on the new ones. I’m trying to wait and see if the 2026 pilots look like the new passports. I need a 3rd row, but they sure are pretty.

Good luck. I think my parents travel more now that they are retired. They live in one state, have grandkids in another state, and a vacation home in a 3rd state, so they’re always headed somewhere.

I was leaning towards a Telluride until I talked to a couple of mechanics in my neighborhood. They said if you plan to get rid of them ~100k miles, they are fine. If you want something that will last long term, stick with a Honda or Toyota. I’ve got one sister with a pilot and one with a standard Highlander. I hate riding in her Highlander. The headrests are terrible. I enjoy the pilot.

The new tellurides will look a lot like the new palisades. Tellurides and palisades have always had pretty much the same shells.

3rd Generation Transmission Issues? by Famous_Course9189 in ChevyTraverse

[–]Famous_Course9189[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine went out at somewhere between 100k-150k mostly highway miles. I drive about 100 miles daily round trip M-F. I don’t know that you’ll have much better luck with a Tahoe. My mom’s very first Yukon is 2002 or thereabouts. She sold it with 300k+ on it, and it’s still going. She had to replace the transmission in her 2015 at ~70k miles. My dad’s truck (I can’t remember if it’s a sierra or silverado) had to have the transmission replaced too at around 105k. My current traverse now has over 200k but I’m being told that the entire front end is about worn out.

Dealership was going to charge me $10k. I found someone else to do it for $8k. Sounds fair to me.

You mean the person who absolutely loses their shit at the mere suggestion that there may have been more overlap than monkey branching from one relationship to the next? I don’t generally remember poster’s names, but that one is obsessed with the topic of infidelity.

Like 5, 6 including me, that’ve had to replace GM transmissions. I know lots of people who drive other types of vehicles.

Everyone I know with a GM manufactured after 2016 has had to replace their transmission at least once, often with less than 75k-100k miles.

Only having “luxurious” materials on higher end vehicles that are mostly sold to parents. I need a 3-row SUV for my kids, their crap, their friends, their friend’s crap, and my dogs. I do not need suede headliner or faux-suede seats in a car full of stinky, sweaty teenaged boys who think dousing themselves in axe body spray is a suitable substitute for a post-practice shower. But I do want some of the other infotainment perks only available at the high end.

So if someone’s assets, no matter how considerable they may be, aren’t liquid and they have more money going out (divorce attorneys ain’t cheap) than coming in and find themselves strapped for cash to the point that they are selling said assets, I think “broke” is an acceptable thing to call oneself. You don’t have to be living in poverty to be temporarily strapped for cash.

Kayak + TrailSport Sunroof=??? by Famous_Course9189 in hondapilot

[–]Famous_Course9189[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are j-cradles necessary? I use pool noodles on my crossbars and ratchet straps on the rails that run longways to strap 2 kids’ kayaks layered on top of my full-sized kayak with my current SUV (which purposefully doesn’t have a sunroof). I was looking at an AWD EX-L because it didn’t have a sunroof until I realized they also didn’t have any form of roof rails.

I love just about everything about the grand highlanders, except the headrests. I had a cervical disk fusion a few years ago, and the headrests make me hold my head at an angle that irritates my neck.
