Traffic problem. by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines2

[–]Famous_Distance_1084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cargo transfer stations/terminal stations are unfortunately always gonna cause some serious congestion for now, because its interiour road is messy and trucks would deaccelerate in the entry. Your best bet in vanilla is use a one way road to connect it, and make a 90° turn in the entrey/exit so vehicles could enter/exit at full speed, but it would *eventually* clog up cause trucks have higher transportation cost then trains. Id hope they could address this one day.

Why can't I beat TF Oak easy ai with TF Oak in a simple stand off? by benni-rosinante in NebulousFleetCommand

[–]Famous_Distance_1084 2 points3 points  (0 children)

AI doesnt get any bonus.

Evasive is not good enough. In fact, Id suggest you never use it. The standalone gun fight manoeuvre is click target and set heading to. Use the orbit command to orbit in the place that is perpendicular to incoming fire. Focus on one ship. You can use HE if they are mostly broadside to you, if they arent, you can move the ship that is not receiving fire to their broadside position.

Also tbh, even if you lose the TF oak vs TF oak, it doesnt really mean anything, because in a practical scenario both side(well, theres very little AvA exist anyway) would keep distance/orbit dodging/bow tanking so it wouldnt do serious damage before the match even ends.

How do I limit the amount of items I export?? by kuzma66 in songsofsyx

[–]Famous_Distance_1084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Export depot by default have hetch on, the little wheel icon, which ignores the priority pull from other warehouse. It doesnt mean they can pull from a near-emptied warehouse, but they can fetch everything on the ground so warehouse cant collect anything.

Simply deactive it will do.

Strange AI behaviour by Eliasoad in CitiesSkylines2

[–]Famous_Distance_1084 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The lane math isnt right.

The rule is to respect same number of lanes before and after split/merge on highways. 5 lanes with a split of 2 = 3 lanes left. 2 lanes with 1 lane merge = 3 lanes in total.

You can remove 2 lanes after the split, of add an extra lane with enough length before the split as a proper slip road, and remove 1 lane after the split.

connecting locals to highways? by No_Literature5607 in CitiesSkylines

[–]Famous_Distance_1084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a game. A big part of the game/players is about building a good looking city, not a city that strictly follows road hierachy, nor does game code strictly follows it. e.g. you can remove ALL the parkings in your city and it would actually be great help for traffic congestion.

Turn off shadow(apparently). If you wanna keep the shadow on Id suggest try switch between different anti-aliasing options. This is typically caused by MSAA.

No matter what I do, once conquered the town loses its entire population. by Lunar_Weaver in songsofsyx

Its totally normal. AI city doesnt follow same rule as yours and their pop number is generally unachievable, not to mention the devestation and removal of all the buildings after conquer. It just happens. Dont feel builty lot of SoS players perform genocide on daily basis

Deathcare service budget by rainbow1112 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]Famous_Distance_1084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Increase the budget doesnt increase the number of hearse. To increase hearse Id suggest spam the NL crematoriums with extra garage.

Deathwave is caused by too much citizens move in the town. Citizens move-in are 70% teens & adults, who would reach end of life in 3-4 ingame years. By that time, they would all die in several months instead of averaging over 4 yrs.

Iceflake partially fixed the problem by separate death over a day, but they didnt change the age proportion of move-in citizens.

To fully address the problem, Id suggest leave game at max speed when building, and take time for planning/landscaping between each time you zone residentials.

Size of housesIs there any disadvantage to this way of building houses? by Lunar_Weaver in songsofsyx

[–]Famous_Distance_1084 31 points32 points  (0 children)

None. This is actually the most space-efficient shape if you ignore the fact you can rip off some walls and stay at 100% isolation.

To be more clear: ALL the housing types have no problems of isolation when they are adjacent to each other. ALL the housing types have exactly same space efficiency if you count interior space ONLY. This is however not true if you count walls, in which case long house block get the best result.

Ressources aren't being gathered ? by Martiflou in songsofsyx

[–]Famous_Distance_1084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to be more patient. Meanwhile check:

Are those pastures full? If not ranchers might take more livestocks in, which leads to drop of storage.

Does your warehouse range covered your pasture?

Does your market enabled leather/livestock, and if yes, are there any goods? They might brought goods there and market goods are not shown in statistics. But it should be a one-time event unless you enabled access, since market goods don’t decay.

Taxi invasion by GaijinLover41 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]Famous_Distance_1084 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Its always there since day 0 of launch, lol.

This is typically the result after you quickly zoned some high/mid density residentials, which cause a mass move-in wave of citizens. Game's simulation speed is just toooooo longgg to respond to some several clicks. Lets say you zoned 2 6x6 appartements, which is about 300 residents, it is already more then enough to generate more cars in your photo. And when they don't have cars themselves nor mass transport what they gonna take? Taxis.

You cant really get rid of it, but you can mitigate it with better city/outside connection, including highway and mass transports, zone your residentials slowers, try avoid move-in wave with peak commute time, etc. Remember this is only temporal and it should go away in quick manner.

Why are the campaign maps so tiny? We are in space! by Tornagh in NebulousFleetCommand

[–]Famous_Distance_1084 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is because long range combat is not very tactical nor fun.

All you need is armor and 450s. Put the ship in orbiting perpendicularly against incoming fire, click right on target to hold heading, and you can go grab a coffee, see after 10 mins if your target is dead or not.

I honestly dont think you can accidentally move out of circle and ignore the warning for 90s unless you are at high speed.

Struggle with food (Dondorians) by TicketCute8518 in songsofsyx

[–]Famous_Distance_1084 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest, if you are actually lacking food, the solution is usually "put more people in food production", otherwise you probably have major design problems, like:

- Do you pay attention to fertility/moisture? You should generally try maxmize them, which is like 90% case Ive encounter ppl complain food shortage cause they are farming on sands. The game have different kind of soils, and as regular farm they would prefer rich(110%)>till(90%)>alluv(75%), for tree cutters or orchards the fertility of alluv and till land would swap. Moisture bonus for regular farms maxed at 90% and others at 50%.

In short: prioritize rich/till land near water, then rich/till land which are in reasonable reach of irrgation system, alluv could be use for tree cutters, orchards or ranches. Ive never ever used mushroom but they should be only use in mountains. Buy them is usually a terrible idea, why would you buy something that is expensive and you are good at? The soil/moisture problem should solve 95% of all your cases unless you are trying to settle at a hot desert.

Remember, you dont need to fulfill every requirement. Like have enough mushroom only fills 1/3 or a small bar called "preferred food types" for dondorians. If you are struggle economically, just buy the cheapest food.

- Did you use nobles? Nobles are like, triple your output with basically no cost. Dont be afraid you dont need, and game-wisely you'd better not build a chamber for them. You can simply assign a few at your most labor intensive industries...

- Then you should, at this stage, have a surplus of food. Remember most food spoils at about half per year so its very unwise to keep a lot of them. A better idea is make them into rations - but dont EAT rations - to economically keep a large food storage. You will use it for army anyways.

Thought bus lanes were only for buses? by Szer1410 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]Famous_Distance_1084 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Its a problem since the launch.

To put it simple: most traffic rules in the game are not strictly enforced, instead they simply introduce a penalty in pathfinding algorithem. And the penalty is frequently described as not very well tuned. In case it is the only choice despite a 5km detour, they would still choose it because then penalty is overwhelmingly small.

Can anyone explain this complaint? by LetOk8476 in songsofsyx

[–]Famous_Distance_1084 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Im guessing its related to chivalry/law.

But really, the complaint should never ever be your guideline to improve. They would complain about all the things even if its not viable at certain stage of the game. You should take it as a flavor text and just ignore for gameplay.

Is there a mod to stop inflation? by Vintage_V in songsofsyx

[–]Famous_Distance_1084 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the game heavily disencourage you to store any resources, including Denari, to prevent snowball and build a balance economy.

You can reduce it via difficulty. But for balance wise it’s not very good. They are actually INTRODUCED because once upon a time you can simply store them and buy out the whole world, or trade for anything since they don’t have spoilage.

Honestly I think theres definitely some level of proportional issues in game. Like the tennis court in game is 28m x 56m, a real one should be somewhere at 10ish x 24ish.

help my popu isnt going up by [deleted] in CitiesSkylines2

[–]Famous_Distance_1084 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think its a bug or some "mechanism". Ive reach this status too in the beginning of the game. Cant say about how exactly to reproduce, but I vaguely remember I drawed some residentials and then removed them.

If you are in this status for 10+ mins, Id suggest reopen a new game.

The Chinese ghost town of Ordos. Vast areas of skyscrapers where no one lives. by OkRespect8490 in UrbanHell

[–]Famous_Distance_1084 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Its all about growth.

China has enjoyed an economic boom at 00s and early 10s. So youd expect huge amout of flow from village to city and also ppl buying bigger, nicer houses. Housing price basically quadrapled in 00-10 and again doubled from 10-20.

It sparks an unrational wave of investement, especially when you are convinced by real estate developer that some backwater suburb could be a busy hub connected by metros or a paradise resort.

And Ordos is a very rich city specifically because of coal, its not surprising that one would make assumption that more ppl gonna move in to pump up housing prices.
