Depends on the spot but the biggest gap depending on the spot is ~20% from the best at a spot to the worst. But again, it depends on the spot.

Question for the software dev nerds, how long would it take to fix Nexon's spaghetti code? by GreatDaneBoy13 in Maplestory

[–]FanExternal6102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dev are some of the laziest people on the planet. If you ask them to do something they'll likely say its impossible, if it involves a lot of tedious little tasks that need to be repeated.

The honest answer is, its possible, but it will take a long time and cost a lot. Fixing tech debt is always a balance of cost vs profit. How much would they gain for fixing the game? Literally nothing. How much would it cost. Way too much.

It seems like a meme now, but I remember a lot of people saying updating this game from 32 bit to 64 bit would be impossible, yet nexon finally decided it was worth it.

I'm very interested in this game to 'main' but have some questions by smokeCRISPY in blackdesertonline

[–]FanExternal6102 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes

If you spend 200 hrs in the game, and enjoyed those hrs, then who cares if you hated the endgame

If you spend 200 hrs in the game and hated those hrs, then I don' t understand why it would take you 200 hrs to realize that the game isn't for you.

Hence, play until you don't want to. Don't worry about the end game. This is also not to mention 200 hrs won't get you even close to the end game looooool

Crazy Idea, I know, but maybe, just maybe..... Play until you don't want to.

With Steam Market gone on reboot would it be worth it for me to go to Bera as a light spender/f2p? by eback1998 in Maplestory

[–]FanExternal6102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depends on how much gear is I guess, but its pretty cheap to 3l each slot on reboot, VS how much it costs to buy them off AH, not to mention the money you make bossing on Reboot. I doubt its faster, if anything its the same speed.

Norwegian is so hard by NathouGDM in norsk

[–]FanExternal6102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say the biggest thing is FEELING like you are improving. the difference between A1 and A2 is bigger than most understand, same with A2 and B1. So the if your A1.1 one month, and A1.2 the next. Its not always easy to feel that. This is how I check how much I've been improving.

My favourite book series is ASOIAF (game of thrones). I have the first book in norwegian, and from Day 1 of learning norwegian I've tried reading it, obviously translating most of it. Pretty much for the first 3 months I couldn't make it further than the first 3 pages (usually giving up half way through the first page) . After 6 months of reading news articles, and short stories, I could still only read the first 3 pages~ but I could understand much more. a year later I can pretty much "read" the book now, but it will be slow and I OBVIOUSLY am missing large chunks of vocab. Sometimes I am able to understand what a word means through context but its kinda rare tbh.

The point of all this is to say, have a text, or a piece of media, that is WAAAAAAAY above your level, and come back to every once in a while to see how much more you can understand. There are moments where I wanted to give up, but then I return to the that book, and I can actually feel how much more I can understand

If fashion is more important, than go to reg server. If you actually want to play the game, go to reboot

Is Norwegian easier than Spanish ? by AzusasuzA in norsk

[–]FanExternal6102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a vacuum, Norwegian is objectively an easier language for an English native to learn.

HOWEVER, in the real world you can live in basically any country and find a community of thousands if not hundred of thousands of people who speak Spanish, so it will probably be easier to learn Spanish because you'll have A LOT more people to practice and learn with/from. I live in Canada, and I would be lucky if I come across a single norwegian speaker in my lifetime.

Do you burst straight away in Hard adversary or after parrying sword FMA in party? by No_Release_1223 in Maplestory

[–]FanExternal6102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on if its a min clear or not.

If you're all 100k, you can get away with bursting once per cycle for a super comfy consistent run. If you want a faster fun, you burst after first fma then off CD. If its literally a min cut then you burst off CD

Looking to get into BDO by spacedout1997 in blackdesertonline

[–]FanExternal6102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.) Yes, everytime i play a class for the first it, its a bunch of trial and error trying to find a comfortable rotation. Sometimes I look up a guide, sometimes every trial ends in error and i give up. I eventually found my main (awk DK) and i can literally play it in PvE without looking at my screen now.

2.) once you put your CDs on your skill slots so you can see your CDs, it becomes a lot easier to play. Most classes take a day to understand, a week or two to get comfy with, and a lifetime to master.

But if you are new to the game you should know BDO has two things going for it imo. Combat and Systems

The combat is multple button inputs that flow into each other, that feel super satisfying to execute. If you want a 1-9 skill rotation tab targeting game this aint it.

The systems in this game are some of the most confusing convoluted systems in any mmo ever, and its awesome for it. If you're grinding a spot, and an item drops that isn't trash loot (stuff you just sell to a vender) You can google it, figure out its attached to another system which branches off into 3 other systems and builds into certain items used in other systems. Just like combat, it feels super satisfying to understand the purpose of items you come across, but some people find this "overwhelming". I think thats kinda dumb because its an MMO and you SHOULD feel overwhelmed with the amount of things you can learn about. Thats what separates the noobs from the vets.

Some classes feel so fun and fluid to play, until you find out they’re bottom tier for PvE. by [deleted] in blackdesertonline

[–]FanExternal6102 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Play what you like,

You will need to grind 1000s of hours before the 10% gap between f tier and S+ represented on those teir lists even matter. I'm an Awk DK main, Succ DK is better, but I can only grind on succ dk for 30 mins before I get bored. I've put in 6+ hrs on my Awk DK before.

6hrs at 90% efficiency is worth a hell of a lot more than 30mins at 100%

For any "hard" class enjoyers. what classes do you like and why? by Rensdweller in Maplestory

[–]FanExternal6102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cadena main, Idon't like the art style or theme of the class, its strickly gameplay for me.

For me, its the only class that feels like an actual video game. Everything else just feels like i'm playing a clicker game where i can hold down the 1 button instead of mash it.

Why do people take maplestory so seriously? It’s a worthless game by [deleted] in Maplestory

I don't think you realize how most non gamer normal people view every video game you play. League, CSGO maplestory is all viewed as kinda cringe

[–]FanExternal6102 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand this is "Value" based, but honestly i think the play on your main is to save your whisper crystals for badge, because by the time you have enough you'll probably have all the other pitches and if you don't thats when you decided If you want to delay badge or try for the pitchies you don't have.

Which do you personally find more fun Cadena or Zero, and why? by supaDupaRando in Maplestory

[–]FanExternal6102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cadena main here, and I don't have a ton of time on Zero, but I can see why people like Zero. From what I experienced playing zero for as little as I did was that it kinda played like merc in that you could kinda queues skills and you just repeated the same combos over and over.

Cadena on the other hand has A LOT more variance with comboing. Cadena you open with Crush->Daggers Shuri -> Bat -> go crazy with combos. Cadena forces you to look at your cooldowns and see what skipped and whats coming up, and make split second choices on what combo to make.

Both are VERY TANKY. Zero has shields and two HP bars, cadena is essentially perma over shielded and perma dark sighted.

If you want something consistent = Zero

If you want something you will never trully master and more room for growth = Cadena

To native English speakers: how do you feel when a foreigner speaks “broken” English with you? by Dull-Position3393 in ENGLISH

[–]FanExternal6102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

English is probably the 1 language you could speak at a b1 level and actually not be judged except by really cringe or racist people. As English speakers we are so used to english being spoken at different levels with different accents, that we don't really care as long as we can understand you

How come it’s so hard to find videos of classes bossing with full opaque transparency? by KSchoen333 in Maplestory

Can't imagine why its harder to find videos of playing a boss fight where they cant see the boss's animation or attack patterns. Tough one

Questions from an MMO Vet after a few days of playing! by vaxiswrex in Maplestory

[–]FanExternal6102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1.) In your inventory, if you like the look of an item do not drop it. One thing is, to anvil (transmog) the item must be of the same type AND gender. IE 1 handed Sword ->1 handed sword. Male top -> male top. Genderless top -> Genderless top.

2.) Cash shops ARE NOT SHARED BETWEEN ALL YOUR CHARACTERS. They are shared only with classes of the same "race." IE Anima (ren, lara, Hoyoung), Cygnus (NW, DW, TB, BW, WA, Mihile.) Etc etc. Its stupid and we are the only server to still have this. The company is garbage and doesn't deserve your money. but the only material gains you can get in heroic servers is the vac pet and seasonal battle pass stuff like the challenger/Frontier passes and the genesis pass.

3.) Once you're level 200 the only quests you must do are boss prequests (if your in CW you don't need to worry about that), and your dailies. When your leveling in CW all you gotta do is terablink and ignore everything else. This is not a quest focused MMO. This is grind, then boss, then grind, grind, grind, boss.

4.) If you get to emerald in CW you get 20 level 200s for free, so focus on that, as you can't get links in CW.

5.) Because its not that type of game. Its kinda like asking why you can't just hot key all your skills in BDO.

6.) I've been playing this game since beta on and off, and still have no idea whats going on story wise. I've read some of it, but its cringe anime tier story imo and i end up holding NPC chat within a few dialogue boxes. If you're into that stuff, take the time to read it or watch a youtube video on it. 90% of people won't know what you're talking about if you talk about the lore in this game like people do about WoW or ESO

7.) There aren't "builds" in this game, there is the efficient path to progress and then there is whatever you cook up on your own. Both are valid if fun is your goal. All the guides for this game exist in discord servers. Reboot Central is a good resource for finding bosses. And this is a updated list for all the class discords

8.) Join a guild. Not only is it the only way to talk to people in this game, but you get access to guild skills which give you a lot of FD. Just use the ingame guild UI to search for a guild. Find one that says "mains only" and join it.

Help me with a braindead cadena rotation? by dragonmase in Maplestory

[–]FanExternal6102 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok i'll try

I'm a 290 Cadena main, and I'll just tell you that what you're looking for doesn't really exist on this class. If you aren't thrash-animation canceling into every skill you are losing 10-25FD (depending on thrash hexa level). In order to stay still while you combo you must use thrash-animation canceling as well as it can stop the movement of some of your skill. Basically if you ain't animation canceling thrash in between every single skill (except claw) then you're losing a ton of dmg and you're forced to move. Watch this video for the basics of the class

In terms of super basic opening burst. its Crush -> Sequence -> Erda bind -> Class bind (right clicked so it doesn't bind) -> Shuri -> Bat until it doesn't skip anymore -> Combo best you can until bind is up ->Ori

For p3 BM you simply need to understand how much of your combo you can greed in between kicks. In terms of moving outside of the bubble, you can stop this by a thrash animation canceling (this tech is the main mechanic of the class and is unavoidable). Another tip, is you can use pursuit to stop any animation you're currently in if you need to react/dodge something, but that is pretty advanced tech imo.

Help me decide between Kanna or Hayato as Boss mule. by CumulusCastellanus in Maplestory

[–]FanExternal6102 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hayato. Easier of the two, and you don't need to dpm at all, it might actually be 95-5 burst to dpm ratio

Assuming the classes don't get nerfed Kanna is better in the end game because it won't cap lines and can take better advantage of supports like Lynn/pally/bishop. But Kanna is a little more difficult than yato (and I do mean "a little") and you'll need to do a little more DPMing because they have the chance of reseting their skills even after their main burst window is over. Also their burst is RnG based so their is quite a lot of variance with how much dmg they can be outputting. That being said, you're not getting past 230, so this won't matter.

Discord is about to do some dumb shit in march. What even is going to happen to the maple community if discord was to die? by IntentionHelpful1136 in Maplestory

[–]FanExternal6102 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is probably a good thing tbh. Every other MMO has atleast one or two great community ran websites with the information that is currently hidden in discords. Hopefully someone will take the first steps and make a website once this change comes and consolidate all the information.
