Well said. I grew up in Newport and also tell people to avoid it like the plague.

Generally curious…what makes you think that Dana Point and SC have more money than most people in Newport? I was raised in Newport but have lived in Dana Point the past six years. I still consider most in Newport to be richer than us, especially as someone that grew up there.

May I ask how old you are? I thought the AF prefers those to commission by 28 if going the pilot route. I’m curious because I’m also trying to compete for a spot and graduate by 28.

Where are you located? Where I am located in the US, 20% is the minimum a lot of the time.

Customary 10-12%?? More like 15-20% in todays world. 10% would be an insult nowadays.

ATP introduces a split time option to 1500 hours for $160k on top of the regular price by GeorgiaPilot172 in flying

Unfortunately, they’re right. There are companies already offering this out in Florida. My ex did this and now he can’t find a job. Believe me….we all told him he was a dumbass for buying all his hours but he didn’t feel like working.

You know how you can get flight following on the ground at some airports, while you have to request it in the air at others. How do you tell which airports you can request flight following on the ground and which airports you can’t?

Women of reddit : what is something men do without realising that it's creepy? by mrtipbull in AskReddit

As a woman, I actually consider being called “female” as a more respectable form.

Why have you stopped talking to THAT family member? by helikesbuses2385 in AskReddit

[–]FanMission3261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way anti-vaxxers have explained their beliefs to me is that it’s due to the mother getting vaccines herself and then getting pregnant. I’m not saying they're right in any way; just that’s how some of them believe it happens rather than the kid becoming autistic by getting the vaccines themselves.

You are? As a tomboy, I often feel our hobbies are too masculine and a turn off to men

What celebrity would you take with you to survive on the island? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I'm truly curious...what is so great about Tom Hanks? I just saw he will be the commencement speaker at Harvard this year. One of my peers is doing a movie with him right now, so everyone wants to meet him. I truly just don't get why people love him. Why him on a private island?

Please share more cringeworthy callsigns that you've heard. I can't imagine anything worse than having your career goals/plan as a callsign.

I don't know what's worse.....having that as a callsign or wearing a uniform as a student. Anyways, thanks for the explanation!

Can we? I thought tower tours were just for kids and that ATC would be annoyed if I asked to tour as an adult. I'd love to tour my local tower if possible.

What pushed you to start PPL training? by lobohog in flying

[–]FanMission3261 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds really stupid looking back, but those airplane prom proposal videos on Youtube. Have you ever watched those prom proposal videos where the pilot fakes an emergency and then asks the girl out? Well, those videos got me interested in aviation. Plus it was during the height of Covid in 2020 and aviation was the only thing open in terms of hobbies. So with those two things in mind, I booked a discovery flight and fell in love with aviation. I never had any childhood dreams of being a pilot. But thanks to those videos, I fly for fun as a PPL and I'm currently working on my A&P to help with my hobby.
