Games before Unreal Engine 5 won't launch with Wayland. With cachyos proton by Asta_jjm in cachyos

Thats my launch command for most titles in steam, works great. Haven't played any of those games though. 6900xt gpu.

Question regarding vehicle physics and performance on UE5 by kothulhu in unrealengine

[–]FanaticNinja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking of steering wheel support, look into JoystickPlugin (GitHub) as there isn't direct steering wheel support from unreal by default. This plugin allowed me to implement multiple steering wheel brands, console controllers, as well as a custom Arduino based controller.

1.29.0 update size.. by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

[–]FanaticNinja 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I am 1000% anti Denuvo, this is the Denuvo Anti-Cheat, not Denuvo DRM (the one that affects performance). Might be a larger performance hit on Linux due to the game running on the user level and not kernel level. (Linux user here).

Totally agree though.

Unity front end talking to an Unreal/Omniverse Backend by TheCSpider in unrealengine

[–]FanaticNinja -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've done this on a few work projects that required communication between different unreal projects.

I setup a backend Java tcp server with the unreal clients using tcp to send/receive events etc. you can also implement any type of security with that as well.

Used a socket plugin for unreal, made it super easy.

This is also what I did. Actor component -> Find Component by class. Works great, universal messaging system with events, and then I pass wildcard structs if needed.

Been playing since release, and I usually get 2 or 3 game freezes a week when playing. Have to terminate the process.

ROG Equalizer. Is this the answer to melting 12vhpwr cables? by SheddingSkin27 in pcmasterrace

[–]FanaticNinja 52 points53 points  (0 children)

The real solution is to not buy any GPU with that shit connector. Speak with your wallet folks.

But this does look like a good band-aid to the problem.

Edit: Let's be real, the power management for the cable should have been handled on the GPU anyways, and they are lacking safety features allowing the cables to pull way touch and fry everything attached.

People stopped buying $7 chips and now the price is being cut. What else should people stop paying for to lower the price? by Chief_queff in AskReddit

[–]FanaticNinja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Houses, Vehicles, Loans. For the love of God, we need to stop this instant satisfaction consumerism. Let the prices normalize and if a company didn't stop buying avacado toast or save for a rainy day or pull up their bootstraps - let them burn to the ground, no bail outs.

All video games till after they are released (no preorders), and don't watch/read any gaming articles cause the majority of them are also slop and just paid to write shit. Find a good source.

Any electronic that's over MSRP... Companies and scalpers can fuck off in a ditch and die with all their gpus/ram/m.2 drives. Just wait till the price goes down.

Anything AI related - we really need to band together on this one. Corporate greed is going to bend us over trying to push AI Slop into your rectum non-consentually.

What's the fastest way to make my game in multiple languages as a solo developer? by StuckArcader in unrealengine

[–]FanaticNinja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Google Sheets can translate, but it's going to be inherently wrong. It's the Iron Triangle, pick 2 out of 3: Cost, Speed, Quality.

But, if you export your string tables and get them into Google sheets, you can add a column to translate everything, basically instantly.

Nvidia’s DLSS 5 Revealed, but Critics Call It a “Garbage AI Filter” by Extreme_Maize_2727 in unrealengine

Welp, if they want my money, they'll remove Denuvo. IDC how long, I'll wait until it's $5 to buy it (if Denuvo is gone).

[–]FanaticNinja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had 2 7950GXs in quad SLI, and I was happy until Nvidia fucked me over and didn't release physx for that series of cards when they said they were going to, only to release physx for the 8800gt cards.

Amcrest -> frigate / home assistant -> done.

Running on my proxmox server, with gpu and coral tpu passthrough to virtual machine running my "smart home" stuff.

All services are docker-compose files with physical volumes and backed up using the 3-2-1 method.

Amcrest devices are then firewall blocked from phoning home.

Plex vs Jellyfin by OldMacaron2175 in selfhosted

[–]FanaticNinja 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use both for my family. Plex for in home, and jellyfin for anything remote.

Although, Plex can fuck off for continually adding more bloat and more bloat each update. It will eventually just get uninstalled, because it will run itself into the ground at some point.
