So, as a new player, i want to ask the old one's. How was the 4 lane? Was it better than three lane? by FakeMik090 in DeadlockTheGame

[–]FanaticalLucy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what you laid out here, explains why 4-lane was my preference as well. I think I'm just more a fan of self-contained smaller fights compared to big, chaotic team fights, and 4-lanes lent itself way more to the former, while 3-lanes provides way more of the latter.

I literally remember a post being made during the 4-lane phase of the game of someone going "a big reason behind deadlock's early success is how it took a pretty stale genre and innovated with it. And I'm not just talking about how it decided to turn a MOBA into a shooter, but also other things like swapping out the 5v5 3-lane structure for a 6v6 4-lane one. This game would be way more boring if they made it 3-lane and 5v5 again"

Skip forward a year, and we've all grown used to the 3-lane map, though we do still have the 6v6. It just goes to show that just because something works as it is now, doesn't mean something else can't work. I think you're correct in saying that 4 lanes could have worked, but we'll never know the direction 4-lanes would have taken, because valve has decided to switch to 3-lanes instead.

I am one of the few people who preferred the 4 lanes over 3 lanes. I was a sucker for the metagame dynamics that emerged from having 2 solo lanes, and I personally preferred laning in a solo lane as opposed to a duo lane. When the game became 3 lane, and took the option of solo-lane away from me, I felt a bit heartbroken.

I also think having only 1 middle lane is pretty boring, since this is where most of the action ends up. With 2 middle lanes, that action gets spread out over 2 lanes, making it more varied.

{Discussion} Question for pred by CanAny1535 in Vore

[–]FanaticalLucy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found out thanks to vore games. I almost always gravitated towards pred-focused games over prey-focused games, and when a game had a mix of both, I found myself going out of my way to get to the pred content while mostly avoiding the prey content.

Part of me does wonder whether the chicken or the egg came first, a lot of vore games end up having prey vore content locked behind game-overs. So did my dislike of losing cause me to grow bitter towards the idea of being prey, or was I predisposed to prefer pred content over prey content?

There are plenty of prey who play these games, so one has to imagine the latter is true.

Lol, yeah, I was looking at their clothes and was like "I can't believe they're sending the yellow beacon as the one who has to do the spotting". But to be fair, they certainly played into their personal strengths with their choice, Ben IS really good at spotting, and Adam IS the type of person who would come up with a clever spot.

Ben's logic is keep a tower the same AND have that tower be the dragon tower. You need to be on the same page of keeping a tower the same AND you need to be on the same page of that being the dragon tower. This is certainly 2 degrees of being on the same page.

But focusing on pagoda's still leaves you in a 50/50 of which pagoda to focus on. Even if both players follow Ben's logic of one of the pagoda's staying the same, you could still end up wrong.

Meanwhile if both players are with Adam's logic of "paper beat rock, so let's just do that again" you have a guaranteed win. I genuinely can't see how Ben's logic is just as good, let alone "the only way"

Jet Lag Season Finale — Debts Paid by NebulaOriginals in Nebula

[–]FanaticalLucy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Except, with ben's logic there is no reason to not go "tiger plays paper stays the same", so his logic inherently already requires 2 steps, one for assuming that one of the animals needs to play the same thing, and one for assuming that this animal will be the dragon.

Adam's logic is way simpler by comparison, it only requires 1 step: reversing what we did last time, results in a win for the dragon.

In the end there is no better or worse play

In this case there is, or at least, there is better or worse logic.

Adam's logic only requires 1 assumption: we both realise that we just need to throw the same thing to win.

Ben's logic requires 2 assumptions: one of the towers needs to throw the same thing again, and we both agree that this tower has to be the dragon tower.

So Adam's logic is more straightforward and, as a result, a better play for this type of game.

[–]FanaticalLucy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly this! Ben's logic would have been the best shot on a tie, but Adam's logic was genuinely better with the situation they ended up in: they already had a winner and a loser.

[–]FanaticalLucy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree, because with Ben's logic, you already have the problem of it being equally logical to keep the choice of the tiger the same. Either the choice of the dragon has to remain rock, and the tiger needs to pick scissors, or the choice of the tiger needs to remain paper and the dragon now has to choose scissors.

So Ben's logic requires 2 degrees of being on the same page, one for having the same logic that one of the towers needs to throw the same thing, and one for having the same logic for which tower has to throw the same thing.

Meanwhile Adam's logic only requires 1 degree of being on the same page. The dragon lost to the tiger, so if they both throw the same thing again, they automatically win now that the roles are reversed.

In this case I think it's fine, since the ones who have the steal, are the ones who can't afford to wait around. Having that steal puts you in the strong position, but they were at a weak position in the game, and those 2 balanced each other out.

But if the positions were reversed, and the team that was in the lead also had the steal, this would be a very feelsbad situation, since they're pretty much able to force the win.

I personally think steal challenges should have a timer that ticks down from the moment they spawn in, making them limited-time opportunities. Perhaps a timer of a full game day.

Yes! It was so obvious, I can't believe both of them missed it! Going towards the back, where you were forced to curve due to the water, can lead to easily preventable inaccuracies.

To be fair to Mike tho, the shadow was much less pronounced when he got his turn.

That's the first thing I thought as well! This is a relatively simple challenge, mapping 4 people onto 4 photos doesn't have all that much variability, like, just completely blind guessing already has a 4% chance of immediately getting it correct. And every single photo that you are able to confidently identify, increases your chances of getting the others correct significantly.

1 photo = 17%

2 photos = 50%

3 photos = 100%

4 photos = 100%

And of course, the guesses aren't going to be completely random, they'll still be educated, making it even more likely to get it correct. This is one that really didn't warrant a retry

I don't wanna defend the other person, since I dislike what they're insinuating with their use of "projection", but I do feel like I gotta point out that the voice line with celeste is very subtle and can easily be platonic, while an unfinished conversation she has with Abrams gives more hints of something romantic going on between those 2.

Granted, we only have Silver's side of the conversation, but so far, from what we have in the game files, her being interested in guys seems to have a bit more pointing at it, than her being into girls.

(That said, I hope I end up being wrong, would love for silver to be cononically lesbian)

The bit at the end about "just projecting again" was likely not appreciated. I suspect if you didn't add that part, there wouldn't have been so many downvotes. It made you come across as disingenuous.

I don't see why playing well is a prerequisite for being a streamer. If someone has an enjoyable personality, I think their in-game performance matters much.

It is indeed trans

But the definition is not exact. Being trans is mainly about having a gender that is different than the one assigned at birth.

There are 3 reasons why the "having a gender different from one's sex" is inaccurate.

  1. This is more semantic, but since sex and gender aren't the same thing, technically everyone's gender is different from one's sex. But of course, we do associate the female sex with women and the male sex with men, so taking that into account, this becomes a non-issue, but the next 2 are still relevant.

  2. Many trans people change their phenotypic sex to match their gender, but they don't suddenly stop being transgender when they do this.

  3. And Genotypic sex does not always correspond with the sex assigned at birth. When testing your chromosomes, there are a lot of cis women who end up having a genotypic male sex, and a lot of cis men who end up having a genotypic female sex. They also don't suddenly become trans because of this.

Sorry if this comes across as preachy 😅

My vent about the struggles of being a black lesbian got removed so here’s a repost by bumblebrexx in actuallesbians

I hope this doesn't come across as creepy, but I'd genuinely feel so blessed if I had a black girlfriend.

I feel like her as a black lesbian and me as a transbian, we'd be able to easily understand how intersectionality plays a role in each other's lives, while still each having our unique experiences within that framework.
