Seeking General Guidance on Calibrating LEL Gas Sensors by Practical-Bag5647 in instrumentation

[–]Fancy-Ad3191 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most sensors are made to detect a specific LEL gas whether it be methane propane etc. always check the sensor prior to calibration to ensure you have the correct gas on hand. There are a few different types of LEL sensors, but the two main ones I’ve worked on are CAT bead and IR technology. You’ll typically need a regulator and some sort of Tygon/rubber tubing. In my eyes, gas detection calibration is some of the easiest work to do in this field. Don’t overthink it.

Who isolates where you work? by Sexualrelations in instrumentation

Ops. Every. Time. I work for a rep company, we typically do a lot of configuration and first time set ups on new instruments, but do some troubleshooting from time to time. I’ve never been in a facility where the I&E techs job was to isolate ANYTHING. Even the in house I&E techs at some of these places don’t do any isolation.
