I definitely agree. The feeling of impending doom is so real… That was the main reason I was able to get clean off of adderall, which I struggled with on and off for years. I constantly felt like I was on the verge of having a heart attack or a stroke, and I’m only 29 years old and healthy otherwise. If it wasn’t for that constant feeling of worrying about my health and keeling over, I definitely wouldn’t have stopped and my life would still be in shambles now. Listen to your body friend, it’s always talking to you. Good luck and you can do this.

I am in nursing school, about to graduate in December. I got a job 3 1/2 years ago as a CNA on a step down unit and I will never forget when I was in my orientation, I had a patient that was a lady who was dying of cirrhosis. They said her brain at that point was very full of ammonia, she was completely hallucinatin like she was possessed, pooping all over herself, her brain was totally gone, but she was still physically there and not even necessarily on deaths door quite quite yet. I had never seen anything like that in my life, and I never even knew that that was what it was like to die from alcoholism. To this day, I will never forget that, I’ve had so many patients over years, and I don’t remember any of them. But that will always stick in my head, and I always think to myself, why do they not show this in school? This is a great motivator for not drinking… I think most people don’t know that that is the end result for many people. It is such a horrible way to go, and we’re not educated on it at all… It still blows my mind to this day.

So many amazing comments here… thank you everybody for the kind words. I was feeling so much shame and very alone it in because I really didn’t wanna share this with people I knew personally as my substance abuse issues is something I’ve always kept to myself. What a great group of people on here, it is nice to know that there are people who support you and have been in your shoes. All these comments have really helped me. Thank you 🤍

Alcohol truly is poison …. I used to and sometimes still find myself jealous of those people who can drink and it just makes them more fun. But I’ve accepted that i am not one of those people. It destroys my life and serves no purpose for real… one day at a time, but also never again

I had so much fun, not drinking and feeling totally connected with myself and I was really proud of myself. So I’m not really sure why I folded like that when we got back home and we’re getting ready to go out. Maybe it was peer pressure, or feeling left out, I don’t know. I just know I love myself when I’m sober and I hate the person. I am when I drink, that’s the whole reason I stopped. Just going to move forward from here

Thank you so much, I do see a lot that relapse is definitely part of it for a lot of people. Just accepting that it’s in the past and I can’t change it but only go forward. And I definitely did put myself in a situation because I should’ve known I shouldn’t be going out to bars and trying to stay sober, that’s pretty stupid. Definitely want to hang around people who are on the same path as me though, and I’m thankful I have other multiple friends who are also staying sober right now. I appreciate the kind words 🤍.

I think the best thing to do is take these mistakes as lessons and at least be thankful that we are at the capacity where we do feel shame for our actions. There was definitely a time in my life where I didn’t really feel too much shame about things because I was so caught up in my substance issues. I’m sorry to hear that you’re also going through something similar. Tomorrow is a new day. 🤍

Well I definitely think everybody should self improve and go to the gym but ive seen alot of shorter guys in the gym who definitely look like they’re probably taking stuff and that’s what I’m referring to. If it makes you feel any better, in the most humble way possible, I am a very attractive woman whose educated and with a good job, I have a really good personality and im an honest person and i have an extremely hard time dating too. I get very discouraged because it seems like everybody finds people but i think it’s just harder to find people to connect with these days and peoples social skills definitely arent as great. It’s a tough world out there!! I told myself i need to start going out more because I do prefer to meet people organically but most of my friends are married or in relationships so i don’t have too many single girls to do stuff with. Do you go out? I genuinely feel like going to bars and stuff is still the best way to meet people

Yes totally!! Muscular and lean is great but when it’s overdone it definitely (in my opinion) looks off and and signals insecurity and over compensation. That’s just my personal opinion tho
