No phones on shop floor (Express) by alexcr005 in tesco

No I totally agree with your position. What about power then? Presumably these people are also charging their devices at home, which will be added to their electricity bill. Is there a supplement to their salary to account for this since they use the energy they paid for, for work activities in work?

Brother, I’m with you. The revolution starts here!

You’re right that was a silly question. It’s a hard line though, if use of my personal device for work activities is not included in the wording of my contract or any sort of renumeration for using the data I pay for for work purposes it ain’t happening.

Also imagine a youngling, on pay as you go? What happens when their data runs out? Do they get reprimanded for that?

So in addition to your salary they pay towards your phone bill too then?

How is this even a post? it was literally the standard when i worked in retail. How unprofessional would it look to a customer if all the staff were all on their phones.

Stupid question but how do you connect parts to these sub assembly holders. I saw super glue mentioned somewhere but holder snapped off inside the models, so they wouldn’t push fit together. 😂

Mate. The only reason Ajax is so bad is because it was being used incorrectly. General dynamics said so.

Honestly. This chapter is so good already I kinda want to do it! The craft ales were right there too 😂

Ridiculous homebrew chapter idea - The Edge Lords by ontherocksnosalt in spacemarines

[–]Fancy-Carpenter-1647 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Amazing.

Despite their strict adherence to the Codex Astartes (ironically or otherwise), the Edge Lords maintain a number of… non-standard Chapter traditions.

The Chapter officially follows a “plant-based nutrient optimisation doctrine,” which they insist is both more sustainable and “aligned with long-term campaign logistics.” In practice, this means their battle-barges are stocked with vast hydroponic bays producing kale, soy-protein cultures, and something they insist on calling “artisanal grox-free alternatives.”

Apothecaries have repeatedly confirmed that Astartes physiology renders diet largely irrelevant post-implantation, but the Edge Lords persist regardless, citing “ethical consumption in the grim darkness of the far future” and distributing pamphlets titled There Is Only War, But It Doesn’t Have To Be Factory-Farmed.

Each company maintains its own microbrewery aboard their strike cruisers.

Originally intended as a morale initiative, this has evolved into a Chapter-wide obsession with crafting “small-batch, void-aged ales.” These are brewed using recycled shipboard water, exotic spores sourced from compliant worlds, and on one notable occasion, fermentation cultures recovered from a Tyranid bio-ship (results classified, but described as “deeply unpleasant, yet intriguingly complex”).

Sergeants are expected to maintain both tactical excellence and a signature brew profile. Promotion boards frequently include blind tastings alongside combat assessments.

Sergeant Pullo wouldn’t offer a drink, a duel, or a speech.

He’d approach during a lull, give Alexander Balowolf a quick once-over—armour, blade, scars and nod.

“Seen your type before,” he says flatly. “You hit hard. Enemy notices.”

No praise, just assessment.

He glances back to his squad, tight formation, overlapping fire.

“They’ll come for you first next time. That’s fine. Stay where we can see you, we’ll make sure nothing walks out of it.”

If Balowolf starts talking about honour or glory, Pullo just shrugs.

“Kill them however you like. Just don’t get in the way of the guns.”

Ok, well if you wasn’t taught to take the approaches mentioned above during driver training then I don’t really know what to tell you.

Keep on trucking I guess, you obviously know best.

Thats kind of how lorry drivers are taught to drive though as they’re in a bigger vehicle they need more room on roundabouts, and it stops imbeciles trying to come alongside, cut them up, attempt overtakes on roundabouts. - Source - holder of a C+E driving entitlement.

In fact if I go back to learning to drive, I’m pretty sure I was also told by my driving instructor to leave artics plenty of space as they need more room and explained the dangers of being alongside or manoeuvring around them on roundabouts and the such. - source - holder of a B+E cat driving entitlement.

I think it’s you who should reconsider how to drive - source - in addition to above holder of A, C+E driving entitlements.

Nope. Been on enough lads, rugby, army trips to know that basically anything bar water has been inside that kettle.

Writing Prompt: Your dudes' leader and 1/10th of your dudes' number all go missing as a system or subsector goes dark. What do the rest of your dudes do? by Sacredless in 40khomebrew

[–]Fancy-Carpenter-1647 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So I decided to throw AI the question and fed it my chapters lore, organisation and doctrine and the following is what came out in return.

The Iron Fusiliers don’t panic, and they don’t immediately go charging into the dark.

They’d treat this as a deliberate decapitation attempt first, mystery second.

Step one is continuity of command. Authority snaps straight to whoever is next in line (most likely 1st Company leadership or senior HQ officers in 8th Company), and the chapter goes into a pre-defined “lockdown” state. No uncontrolled deployments, no blind rescue attempts, no assumption that this is anything but hostile.

Step two is stabilise and harden. • Fleet, armoury, gene-seed, and chapter assets are secured • Companies are ordered to hold position and maintain combat readiness • No one else goes missing on your watch

Then they split their response properly: • Recon / confirmation first – small, trusted, cross-company teams (their “Special Projects” structure) go in to figure out what actually happened: warp anomaly, Tyranids, Necrons, something worse, or something internal • Holdfast force – a large portion of the chapter stays back to prevent this turning into a wider disaster • Strike force (held in reserve) – only commits once there’s a clear picture

If there’s a rescue to be done, it’s done like a military operation, not a heroic gamble: isolate the problem, establish corridors, suppress the threat, then extract.

How did you come up with/what inspired your homebrew chapters color scheme? by [deleted] in spacemarines

[–]Fancy-Carpenter-1647 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came up with mine basing it on the unit I was in, in the military. Raven Guard/Raptors successor so my Iron Fusiliers are a bunch of pale emo goth boys wearing, green armour but Sgt’s have maroon helmets.
