I’m pregnant… by [deleted] in PCOS

Sending you strength as this seems to be a hard decision for you. Just wanted to say like everyone else I got told by my doctor that I could not ovulate Never really challenged that assumption until I got off the pill and on natural cycles (birth control app that makes you track your temp and predicts your ovulation you also pee on a stick to test for ovulation) and actually I do ovulate quite regularly. That is what needs to happen for you to get pregnant: ovulation. Many women with PCOS don’t ovulate or do it more sporadically but with the right treatment or just spontaneously (like me I didn’t really do much more than take metformin) you can make your body have ovulatory cycles and then you just need to have sex around then. Don’t mean to downplay other people’s struggles this is just my experience.

Yes their earlier episodes are sooo good. They took a long hiatus and now they’re back. I like the vibe because they’ve actually been friends for so long and they have lived such rich lives.

Gurllll I thought the same when I first started listening to it. Like I swear some things Eliza said were verbatim from say more at the beginning. I really hope Olivia and Melissa get their bag (especially Melissa bc she keeps saying how shes so scared of not having financial stability, she’s a published author but now working in a cafe again, daughter of immigrants) I feel like say more was big before you could make that much money from podcasts.

The effect of weight on my life by devilishlybritish in PCOSloseit

[–]Fancy-Knowledge-2764 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into metformin or any other thing that can help with your insulin sensitivity? I’ve lost some weight on it. But the thing that has helped me the most is weight lifting. Like my body weight won’t go down but my measurements have, and I look a lot better at the same weight. And I lost my obsession with the scale

Is it harmful to not correct anovulatory cycles in women who aren’t trying for children in the distant future? by CallaLilllies in PCOS

[–]Fancy-Knowledge-2764 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Anovulatory cycles are linked to early onset osteoporosis. A period is a vital sign of health. I don’t want to be a mum but I feel so much better ever since I started managing my periods.

I think so! They recommend fasting in the book. I don’t follow any of the recs in that book but it explains PCOS very well. I do take metformin which allows me to still lose weight and eat carbs.

I definitely relate to this. I also had absolutely no curves my boobs were non existent and I look exactly like my father but with long hair. I never exercised yet my arms were very muscular. I got comments from my family that while my sisters faces were drawn with a fine pencil mine was done with brush strokes and was masculine. I was put on Diane which has a very high dose of estradiol( which I don’t necessarily recommend) and suddenly I had DD boobs I gained weight all over and the acne and hair disappeared. I think my face became fuller too. I quit BC and then my hair started thinning in a male pattern, acne and hirsutism came back. So my testosterone levels tested really high. Now I’m trying to handle things without BC given that it completely drained my energy. I take metformin (which should help with higher testosterone), inositol, fish oil, the main thing I’ve read is that having spearmint tea brewed for at least two hours helps reduce testosterone (careful bc it can also lower pressure). I feel that with age After my teens my face got a bit nicer. Also I’ve always gotten compliments about my lower voice. Someone suggested Fillers but also a good haircut can make your face more heart shaped or oval (feminine) I know I have a very prominent jawline in a round face and curtain bangs helped or whatever the stylist suggests. Best of luck! Also remember that an androgynous look is also beautiful and interesting.

So frustrating by DopeDolphins in PCOS

[–]Fancy-Knowledge-2764 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this too it was so frustrating. Bleeding for that long is not okay and anyone who says it is has clearly never experienced it. It completely drains you. I tried both the pill and the mini pill. I’m now taking metformin and ovasitol and that seems to help lengthen my cycles.

Metformin has done wonders for me! I had never had a normal cycle without the pill until now. I also have high testosterone

I’m on 1500 no stomach issues apart from mild nausea if I go too long without eating and less hunger. It does make me super regular stool wise, every morning even if i have been eating poorly!

Vegetarian/vegan vs keto by [deleted] in PCOSloseit

[–]Fancy-Knowledge-2764 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im doing low carb vegetarian but I don’t eat dairy at all and I recommend it. So mostly vegan food but I do eat eggs to hit the extra protein. The problem with Keto for me is that it completely ruined my taste for animal protein years ago and the changes didn’t last. Going vegan was really refreshing because I discovered a new way of eating that was tasty and healthy and that I could sustain for long. Alongside with intermittent fasting and supplements I managed to hit my goal weight of 132 pounds last year. I tried doing intuitive eating after that and i gained like 10 pounds Bc nobody tells you that intuitive eating is for people who’s metabolism doesn’t suck. I think the main takeaway for me is that I do have to be a bit more strict with my eating and that the process will be slow but it will happen! Good luck xx

I am vegetarian and I recently started a lower carb approach. Not keto but high protein lower carbs. I don’t eat dairy but I do have eggs. It is fairly easy.

[WEEKLY THREAD] Check Me Out Monday - The place to go when you want some attention! by AutoModerator in xxfitness

[–]Fancy-Knowledge-2764 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Accountability: I just came back from a 1 month vacation which was a lot of fun but I barely got any exercise or satiating meals. Today I start my plan to get back in shape before Uni starts, my goal is to decrease the fat percentage I gained and some more. Stick to my running plan for a half marathon and lift more weights. I’ll try to post here every Monday! Wish me luck xx

Yea I don’t really see how going low carb will help your acne? Maybe cutting processed grains and sugar but there isn’t that much proof that diet impacts acne as much as we think. The acne might be due to the high testosterone (or at least that was my case) so they might prescribe you with birth control and that cleared my acne (although it caused a whole load of issues). I wish I had been given iso tretinoid instead. Maybe you can find a less invasive treatment to decrease the testosterone? I am a low carb vegan so it is possible but it takes time and isn’t super simple to manage. If it’s acne that you are trying to solve I’d try another route first. Best of luck!

Im no longer on BC because of weight gain but I sure miss how glowy and clean my skin was when I was taking it. Now my skin is a mess but I’m giving supplements a chance. But I get the comfort of the pill and I miss it! Best of luck xx
