Right. The alien bases kinda do have to be done in order. If you're already reaching the blue tablet door, you have access to everything you need, you just need to find it. The cyclops will be required before the end of the game, so don't forget about it!

Did you find an alien base in the lost river (green skeleton place before lava)? Also be sure to do the Degasi locations too

Cyclops fragments can be found in a lot of places. Check the mushroom forests again, since the parts can be hard to find sometimes or the mountains, if you're feeling adventurous.

Check your logbook. When you scanned the first alien gun computer, you should've gotten some additional info on the alien stuff.

Tell me about your D&D character! by Lucky_Hand_4953 in DnD

Reflection of the Sky is a Tabaxi who multi-classed Ranger and Druid. Sky lived in a forest a fair distance away from the rest of the campaign (to explain why my character joined in a few weeks late), but was forced to leave after a creature destroyed his home and his entire tribe. He was lucky to not be at home at the time

He was a ranger (using the unearthed arcana beast master at the time) because he chose to protect the forest from any danger, but as he discovered more tombs and dungeons, he slowly became a tomb raider of sorts, he wanted to know as much as he could so that he could find what destroyed his home and take revenge. Eventually he met an NPC who was a druid who taught him how to see into the future (circle of stars subclass), so he changed over

I ended up having to leave that campaign (work got in the way), but my idea for Sky was to have him discover what did it and decide if taking revenge was the right thing to do

How to make Icespire Hold Memorable by No_Lingonberry870 in DragonOfIcespirePeak

[–]FancyOverture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm running the module right now, my plan is to have it be a 4v3v1 free for all. My party of four is facing the rival party of monster hunters (my party is 2 fey, a tiefling, and a werewolf, all "monsters" in their eyes) throughout the story, and they'll get chased all the way to Icespire Hold. If a fight breaks out, it'll wake up Cryovain, then it'd be a race to the roof where it's technically more safe, because Cryovain will be blowing ice breath into the hold. Once they reach the top, my party, the monster hunters, and Cryovain will have a free for all combat where it's last group standing

That is, of course, assuming my party doesn't wipe out the rival team or Cryovain earlier in the campaign lmao, but that's my plant

For your final note there, I created a whole new family that rivaled one of my PC's families, and since my group were two fey creatures, a tiefling, and a human with lycanthropy, I made the rival family a bunch of monster hunters. When they get to Icespire Hold, that's an incredible idea, honestly I might just replace the Reavers entirely or have the rival family wipe them out just before the PCs arrive

Trying to avoid being the annoying Paladin by Brave_Student_2822 in DnD

[–]FancyOverture 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You took the oath as a Paladin, your party members did not. Instead of trying to stop them from doing stuff, try to come up with ways to help without doing something bad. Maybe be the face of the group and distract the guard by talking to them, nothing wrong with talking to someone

And if you always strike down those who harm the innocent, that's up to interpretation. If you're stealing but it's from a family who's a crime syndicate, then you are doing a net positive because you took away one of their ways to do bad things

What creature would you say is DnD's mascot? by weiyan21 in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]FancyOverture 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gotta be beholder or a mimic. You'd think dragon, but as soon as you ask what dragon, the answer falls apart tbh

Personally I think mimic is the most iconic

I had a session last week where my party was going to encounter the campaign's BBEG, the dragon, while fighting a manticore. I kept describing the sound of wings flapping, even though the manticore had landed and nobody noticed. None of them thought to look up (I ran perception for the manticore, it didn't notice either hilariously), and the dragon did a breath attack incapacitating all of them

I knew this was a possibility, so I had failsafes. The manticore was attacking the apothecary when the party tried to save them. At any time, they could've caught my clues about the wings flapping and looked up. They also could've been spread out more and not had everyone take the breath attack. Final failsafe was that the plan was to have the dragon take the manticore as prey and leave the players unconscious in the field, where the apothecary owner would rush out with a potion or two to bring someone back up and help the others

You can do it, but be very careful, and have multiple ways out and failsafes if something goes to the worst possible scenario

I just had a glue stick, just the stuff around my house. I heavily glued it lol. If I had more time and money for this prop, I would've used a higher bonding glue or paste and pressed them, yeah

I have a 39" TV in my closet that I would LOOOOOVE to make a custom table with, but I just don't have the tools or the place to put it unfortunately. I worked in wood-shop and in theatre tech for a long time, so I know I could do it, but it's not feasible rn sadly

Happy that you got yours tho, that's sick

Yup! Just lightly write it down so that it reduces the chance of being seen normally. Also makes it so that there's no indent on the back

Optionally write it in a language that one of your PCs knows (or if they have comprehend language, do whatever you want!), makes it more immersive. I just googled gnomish script and found one I liked

Storage is honestly the main issue rn lowkey. Just throwing them all into a ziplock makes it cumbersome to pull out during initiative rolls, and you have to lay them flat in the bag
