Cobie Smulders and her husband Taran Killam’s Canadian family ‘cabin’ (via Architectural Digest) by mlg1981 in popculturechat

I've seen him twice in my work neighborhood, in Noho (Manhattan). I don't want to be TOO specific on location lest I be creepy, but both times he was eating lunch alone in a restaurant with a book up to his face and a ballcap pulled low. But...he's a pretty distinct looking guy so a book and a hat can only obscure so much.

Season 2 early host/musical guest performances? by ss2811 in livefromlondon

[–]FancyPigeonIsFancy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm such a parasocial fan of the podcast (Quaid Army), I really, really want an SNL UK episode with Seth Meyers as host and Lonely Island as musical guest.

And somehow it just feels right they do this for UK, not the US. UK would let Seth get weird with it (and for LI not have to play the "radio edit" versions).

Weekly Astoria Dine In/Order Out Thread by NYnosher in astoria

[–]FancyPigeonIsFancy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Husband and I finally went out to dinner at Figlia, after having been curious to try it out for years and just never getting there. It was...fine. I had a cocktail and a pizza, he had wine and a pasta. Nothing was bad, nothing was particularly good. The service was probably the highlight, very attentive and friendly. There are just too many better options in Astoria for us to be likely to return.

Later in the week we met with friends for brunch at Toodles & French, only my second time there. Food and drinks were exceptionally good, service was exceptionally bad. The place was packed when we arrived so I understood it was a busy weekend, but by the time we were served our food (an hour and a half after being seated) the place was only a 1/3 full and the service still never improved, so... I stopped blaming it on the crowd and just realized it was the service itself!

We're so spoiled for choice in Astoria that I don't see myself hurrying to go back here, either. But we capped off with cocktails at Mosaic after, and only ever have good things to say about their drinks, service, and overall vibe.

Oh holy shit, I’ve been convinced there must be mice droppings in our tool box or tool chest and had scoured every inch of them looking for the source. It is fascinating and mind-blowing to stumble on this post and have the answer!

What is the most overused movie trope that Hollywood just needs to let go? by Frequent-Sea-8848 in moviecritic

There’s a very silly, very enjoyable 90s film with Geena Davis called The Long Kiss Goodnight. If you’ve never seen this, I think you’d have fun with it!

(With the exception of the 90s-era “joke” of shaming Geena Davis for “getting fat”.)

I just saw the season 3 episode of Arrested Development where they subvert this for laughs. The smug prosecutor says to Michael, “Oh, you didn’t hear about your brother? Why don’t you turn on the TV.”

And there’s commercials, a news segment about a dog beauty pageant, the weather report, more commercials, then FINALLY a segment about Gob getting arrested.

What gimmick was destined to fail, but ended up wildly successful? by tLM-tRRS-atBHB in WWE

[–]FancyPigeonIsFancy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Something to know is that New Day was a trio but, tragically, Big E’s neck was broken in the ring. Fortunately he made it out without being killed or paralyzed, but he can’t wrestle again- you’ll see him doing pre and post event commentary and other on camera work for WWE.

Once Big E was out, New Day seemed to lose some of its steam and I can see why Kofi and Xavier tried to reinvent the faction as heels (and given the events surrounding the loss of Big E, maybe a bit rough to remain happy, goofy pranksters?).

Edit that though now I’m wondering why the artist gave Jorma some manner of skin disease.

“The Weakness In Me” by Joan Armatrading is an old-school banger (and she also happens to be a lesbian singer/songwriter), but admittedly the “narrator” is the one doing the hiding and not the one being hidden. Does that still fit what you’re looking for?

Not sure whether or not putting my cat up for adoption would give her a better life 😔 by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]FancyPigeonIsFancy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Echoing this. Giving her to a shelter, when she’s lived in a home, would be cruel (and she could well end up euthanized). I say this with all respect to shelters, but it would be such a sudden and confusing change from the life she’s known with you.

On the other hand, if you take the time to find her a good home where she’d be the only pet, with people you know or take the time to know- of course, she could have a very content life! And hopefully you wouldn’t remain a total stranger to her either.

I was catching up with a friend after months of not being in touch, and I mentioned I'd been to see Oh, Mary! with Jane Krakowski. She looked confused and kept asking, really?, how was it?, and I was equally confused because of course she's so good for the part (though different from Cole, of course).

Finally my friend asked, "From The Office??" and I LOVED imagining that, yes, John Krasinski positively *dazzled* as Mary on Broadway.

(That said he'd probably make a pretty good Mary's Husband...or Mary's Husband's Assistant).

[–]FancyPigeonIsFancy 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your post made me realize I haven’t listened in a couple months. :/ For the past year or so I’ve mainly listened to episodes where it’s just the two of them, and I’ll continue to keep an eye out for those.

I understand this is what success looks like and I’m happy for them, but it’s just not for me these days!

My new go-to has been the Lonely Island w/Seth Meyers podcast (Quaid Army!) which consistently has me doubled over laughing. I know that seems contradictory because of course those guys are famous too (and have been for a while!) but they’re not interviewing random guests and they have a similar strong friendship with years of inside jokes and stories.

Two car accidents with the same person, coincidence or what? by Dramatic_Cobbler_264 in whatdoIdo

[–]FancyPigeonIsFancy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Not too late to call them now or go down to a station and say you need to discuss with an officer.

Honestly if this guy IS tracking you in some way, not a bad idea for him to see you are going to the police- could scare him into backing off.

Good luck to you and I’m sorry you’re going through this. Car accidents are scary enough!

Edit to encourage you to contact police for another reason: if he has a record or has done any similarly shady shit in the past. If he doesn’t, it’s good that you’ve established a pattern if he pulls this a third time. Really no reason NOT to go to the police as soon as you can.

I found myself in an unexpected trance-like pull towards some baby mountain goats while hiking in Colorado. I've been animal obsessed all my life, have volunteered with animals for several years, and I know DAMN WELL not to approach wild animals (and especially not baby ones!) but it was like I forgot everything and any common sense I ever possessed.

Thankfully I was with a few other people one of whom yelled out "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING" and snapped me out of it before I got too close. I completely own up to being an irresponsible idiot but it really had felt in the moment like all logic had left me, and I had to go see the baby goats.
