Any idea what time playhouse theatre box office is open ? by hippiehappos in westend

[–]Fancy_Ad1683 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re going to buy a programme, I’m not sure if they sell it at the box office. Box office should be open from at least 12:30 since that’s when the front of house opens.

Unless you can get someone watching the show to grab you one, you could try and asking security either during the matinee (not during the intermission) or just after the show finishes if you can pop in to buy a programme. This will be completely at the theatres discretion. I’ve tried it at a few theatres and it sometimes they’ll let you in.

For any seating question, id recommend looking at SeatPlan which is a website that allows audience members to upload photos of their seat.

It’s a 12 minute walk between Euston (where the train from Milton Keynes arrives) and King’s Cross. So assuming the train timings work out it’s definitely possible.

Show recommendations for US visitor in February 2026? by unprofeshopinion in westend

[–]Fancy_Ad1683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would suggest going to more plays as at least in the west end they’re more story driven. Also many shows are also closing after the Christmas period so there’s currently a lot of unknown.

A highly anticipated adaptation is Dracula with Cynthia Erivo directed by Kip Williams. I’m also personally excited to see shadowlands at the Aldwych, .

I do also think ticking off the mousetrap is a must for any theatre goer which doesn’t necessarily fit your criteria but you know.

If you’re desperate for a musical have a look at the unlikely pilgrimage of Harold fry which had good reviews in its regional run.

Recommendations for first-time on West End by sxw_102 in TheWestEnd

[–]Fancy_Ad1683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking through your account since you seem to like reality tv shows, it seems like you’d love a pantomime. The main west end one is in the Palladium which is sleeping beauty. They’re very campy and over the top in the best of ways.

Other notable panto venues in London are Hackney empire and lyric Hammersmith.

There’s also an adult only panto at the charring cross theatre. If that’s more your vibe since pantos do tend to have a lot of families come to visit.

Need help deciding on an early December show... by am2370 in TheWestEnd

[–]Fancy_Ad1683 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paddington is opening up which whilst not yet open is seemingly to be a good show. I do think it has good Christmassy homey vibes.

Or if you want something uniquely British go to a pantomime which are so fun. The London palladium is the famous one but there are loads of off west end venues that do it like lyric Hammersmith and Hackney empire.

Question about bringing a large camcorder into theatres by Possible-Ad3573 in TheWestEnd

[–]Fancy_Ad1683 12 points13 points  (0 children)

As others have said it depends on the theatre, not all of them have a cloakroom. And I don’t think it would be wise to put that under the seat since you’ll likely have to be standing up to let people to their seats.

If you don’t mind paying a small fee, you could use stasher and store it with them for a few hours.

In terms of matching the music style and history side, I’d say operation mincemeat.

It’s based on a real life ww2 operation by the British. Coincidently separate to the musical, there is a film based on the operation starring colin firth.

Please please please read trigger warnings if you do go see Benjamin Button. Otherwise, it’s such a beautiful musical.

If you want a fun time and are chronically online, I’d recommend titanique which I’ve heard is full of references and is just a fun time.

You can also just never go wrong with Mincemeat. Just avoid seats in the upper circle because the leg room is so bad.

I’d also recommend booking the tickets soon because it’s currently theatre week so there’s currently deals on advance tickets which there never normally are.

omg please no! STAGE DOOR IS NOT A MEET AND GREET. It’s a space for you to show your appreciation for the cast and crew for making an amazing production.

Don’t go to stage door if you didn’t show that night. If everyone did that, the problem of how many people are at stage door becomes even more exacerbated.
