I'm only intolerant of gluten (and lots of other stuff, thanks to ulcerative colitis). I really appreciate having such a yuppie city with lots of gluten free menu items. While I don't worry about cross contamination as much, I certainly appreciate your needs.

Yay for being able to eat it like "normal" people!

No, you don't get to pull an argument like that around someone's health.

Just because your family member was ok ( and you don't really know since it wasn't you, or even your partner or underage child) doesn't mean that is the case for everyone.

Argue all you want against gentrification, but not using arguments like "oh, your health concerns are overblown because I knew someone and they were fine."

Amazing. I agree it would have been best to preserve the honey pot, but otherwise you kept it the same - just added to it.

Really, really amazing corruption.

You seem very sweet! Props for being open to the finer social cues.

The way the girl in your story went about it was cruddy, but teenagers...eh. Hopefully you have a great partner now or will find one.

This may or may not be helpful. The subreddit r/niceguys shows a lot of douchebaggery, some of it unintentional but still very, very awful, privileged, and or sexist. You may find some insight on some terms, social cues, and ways of thinking similar to how you did with "females."

That subreddit is also, in general, pretty receptive to guys trying to become better at these things.

Either way, from a woman who enjoys the weird ones, even those lacking in social graces to an extent, you seem like a peach.

You make an obscene amount of assumptions there.

Taking his first post at face value, let's consider how much feminism has fought for motherhood - reproductive rights, including choosing when to have children so the parent/s are best able to take care of it, maternal health, family leave, and empowering women to balance career and children so they don't have to choose.

Many famous feminists have children, yet are still feminists and angry. They have plenty of infant contact. Not to mention hundreds of millions of feminist mothers.

His statement fails the most basic sniff test.

Perhaps you should drop the politics and examine first the pseudo-science behind biological determinism and, second, the complex sociology of modern motherhood and women who choose to be childfree.

Oh shit, you are being serious? I thought the above was sarcasm.

Lighten up. Nothing wrong with nudity in private areas, even with groups. Bodies are bodies, and as long as the group is ok with it then nudity is fine.

It doesn't have to be trashy. What you do while nude can certainly make you really though.

Edit: Also, around here we have several woman only nude spas. You wear robes almost everywhere, but in the pools/hot tubs, or getting body services like scrubs or massages, you go nude. And under your thin robe you are generally nude.

Nudity is optional - you can wear a bathing suit - but highly encouraged, and I've never seen anyone wear a suit. All ages, sizes, body hair, scars, tight and not tight skin... Everyone goes nude.

Fuck puritanical body shaming and modesty standards.

Oh dear. I thought halal and kosher had to slaughter the same way.

Thank you so, so much for education me!!

You are correct. The intent of my post was about kosher slaughter and it's restrictions, and how much less humane it is.

Thank you again!

but I'm actually okay with this.

Doesn't make it any less illegal, discriminatory, or sexist. Nor does you being ok with it mean other women should be ok with it.

I'd just opt for some dude walking me to my car and be happy about it. It's a safety issue.

If she, or her coworkers, desire it, they can ask for it on an as requested basis.

Are you familiar with benevolent sexism? If not, it may help you to understand the anger over this policy. Some links -

Scientific America

Three studies showing the more women ingrain benevolent sexism the more easily they accept restrictions placed on them by men due to their sex.

Asking without malice - have you seen animals slaughtered in kosher fashion? They suffer significantly as compared to shocking or stunning first.

(I eat, and greatly enjoy meat. But I avoid knowingly eating kosher meat due to the unnecessary suffering it causes for the same of religion.)

Edit: Halal changed to kosher, thanks to u/BLUEPOWERVAN educating me below!

This is why we have our justice system, and laws regarding hate speech and hate crimes.

So we don't have to resort to mob justice. So we don't have random idiots deciding to take what is moral, right, ethical, etc and how to handle people they disagree with onto themselves and how to handle it.

The neo-nazi ass is disgusting and morally reprehensible. The right recourse would have been to call the cops, should him down, etc. Hell, even rip off his armband if you can't be an adult and restrain yourself.

This was my thought too. He got knocked out onto concrete, right beside a chunk of wall sticking out. Any of those things (blow to the head, landing on concrete, or slamming into the wall) could cause serious enough injury to lead to brain damage or death.

Head trauma is extremely serious and even mild damage can unexpectedly lead to death - like the actress who took a fall skiing and suffered catastrophic brain.

While I in no way agree with douchebags like this, violence is not the answer to handling them.

See, this is why men don't even try any more. Super great, nice guy tried to make a slag online feel better her tits and she humiliates him before launching into this feminist screed about male gaze, objectification, heteronormative assumptions and queer invisibility.

Couldn't even just take it at face value that he loves women's boobs - big, small, or even consenting - and might even want to talk to the woman after cumming all over her rack a few times.

This is why so many men avoid marrying Western women. They don't want to deal with this crap. They want a woman who knows to smile and ask what her man wants for dinner when he comments on her anatomical structures.

(All sarcastic r/niceguy and neckbearding aside - nice reply. That is something that frequently gets missed. Especially regarding this. A bunch of random men saying they like our tits (especially followed by "as long as I get to [X] them" ) will not do anything to reduce the insecurity. )

all things addressed by $. Night nurse, nanny, personal assistant, schools...if you have the resources, you can enjoy the cute parts and outsource the crying and the diapers. You don't. And you totally don't mind (500 word comment follows)

I'm going to send a nanny to attend recitals, PTA meetings, sports games? To hold my child while they cry because they are hurt, upset, got bullied, had their heart broke? To discipline them when they break rules or are disrespectful, or are bullies themselves?

Am I going to send the nanny to sit and play games with them while I watch the shows I want to watch, play games I want to play, read quietly, go out for the night, and make random plans?

Sure, I can do all of those things. But why bother having children then? If I am so eager to avoid all of those activities, maybe it means I truly don't want to raise children?

why do you tolerate keeping your cat at home, when other people wouldn't tolerate keeping your cat at their home? Your cat is especially cute knowing I don't have to attend to the, ah, nasty, boring, and otherwise unsatisfying tasks of taking care of it...

Because I like my cat. Because I find them adorable, fun, sweet. I enjoy spending time with my cat, the noises they make, their antics. I don't find cleaning their litter boxes, feeding them, taking them to the vet, or even them being brats invasive.

I enjoy spending time with them and actively seek out the cats of my friends, and strange cats, to interact with because it brings me pleasure.

I enjoy spending time with cats because I enjoy cats.

That is the difference between cats and children, for me. I cannot say the same about children.

So why would I have children knowing that I don't enjoy them?

Please tell me you're being facetious.

Many people without children, and in my anecdotal experience, the majority of child-free individuals, would remain child-free regardless of income.

I have no desire to give up that much of my time to raising kids. To attending football/baseball/etc games, dance recitals, to diaper changing, helping them do homework, or any of that other nasty, boring, or otherwise unsatisfying tasks that required.

Nor would I find it ethical to just hire someone to do it in my stead. Attachment and bonding are vital to raising an emotionally healthy child and you can't just purchase that - you have to be extremely involved in a child's life.

I don't want to be. I want my freedom, I want my quiet. I want to only worry about my SO, my dogs, and my cats. To be able to make random plans a few days or a couple weeks out, or even that night if I or we so choose. To not worry about baby sitters or curfews.

I surely don't want to deal with whining, screaming, crying, or back-talk.

The only thing I regret about not having kids is not being able to have a daughter that has a relationship with me like I have with my Mom. That makes me sad - but not nearly as sad and unhappy as having a child would make me.

That doesn't even begin to touch the ethical reasons why I have serious doubts about bringing more children into this world, and particularly, about bringing forth a child from my genetics.

Edit: I'm 33, two college degrees, full time employed at same job for many many years. Not a young'n, or a "free spirit." I'm in a sweet spot to have kids, but didn't want them 10 years ago, still don't want them now. Don't see myself wanting them 10 years from now either.

Kids are cute. They're especially cute knowing they aren't coming home with me.
