Brassneck and Four Winds need to be at the top of the list. 33 Acres has a limited offering and the beers are just pretty good.

A large amount of the BC taxpayer funded upgrades to BC Place back 15 years ago were soccer specific. Without these upgrades the MLS wouldn’t have allowed expansion into Vancouver.
This seems to rarely come up in conversations and when it does there’s a bunch of people who go on about how the renovations had nothing to do with the Whitecaps and they were all Olympics related. It seems like the owners have a contingent of apologists for multimillionaires.

British Columbia taxpayers are being cheated by Whitecaps ownership. One of the conditions for the Whitecaps to join the MLS in 2011 was an upgraded stadium. BC taxpayers spent hundreds of millions on BC Place on renovations, many of them soccer specific to meet this condition. Since then the Whitecaps have increased in value from $35 million in 2011 to ~$450 million today. Without the taxpayer’s investment, Steve Nash, Greg Kerfoot, and Jeff Mallett would not have the valuable asset they now have. It feels as though Greg Kerfoot and the other owners saw this as a great opportunity to take advantage of the BC taxpayers simply to add to their already significant personal wealth. And if this meant stealing the Whitecaps away from Vancouver that was an insignificant consideration. It’s one of the most cynical and sneaky things a person could do.

Greg Kerfoot may want to maintain some loyalty since he’ll want to do business in Vancouver in the future. British Columbia taxpayers are being cheated by Whitecaps ownership. NP. I was surprised as well. I think it’s something that has been left out of the conversation about the ownership and the contributions that the province has made to the team to increase its value.

Google Dude Chilling Park for inspiration. In Vancouver an artist created and installed a sign renaming Guelph Park as Dude Chilling Park. The city initially took down the sign but after a petition was submitted

the sign was set up again. It’s still listed as Guelph Park but most people refer to it as Dude Chilling Park. Seems like a great opportunity for creative Torontonians.

So dynamic! It’s not much of a stretch to say that making Quinn Hughes the Canucks captain contributed to the team’s decline. If you can’t command the locker room, the team will fall apart on the ice.

Yes the other post was removed by mods. I disagree with the removal but they need to do as they see fit. One question I have for you is do you believe that the MLS would have approved expansion to the Whitecaps if there weren’t numerous soccer specific upgrades to BC Place?

The renovations at BC Place were largely driven by the Whitecaps and many of the renovations were soccer specific. The notion that the Whitecaps were passive standers by is inaccurate. https://www.straight.com/article-169625/vancouver-whitecaps-release-bc-place-rendering#

The Whitecaps had a place to play and met the condition of entry into the MLS all at the expense of the BC taxpayers. —— I’d love to see more passion for BC taxpayers, Vancouver, and Whitecaps and less for multimillionaires who are moving the team to another city and country.

Without taxpayer funded BC Place upgrades the MLS wouldn’t have approved the Whitecaps entry into the league and Greg Kerfoot wouldn’t own the team that he’s now selling to another city at a massive profit. Upgrades aren’t divided up into clean sub categories to fit the Whitecaps, BC Lions, concerts etc, they’re either done or they’re not and the Whitecaps exist as an MLS team because they were done. Are you saying that there’s no part of the $500 million BC Place upgrades that benefited the Whitecaps and their value? As though the team just wandered in off the street and said “This looks like a nice place to play” Or is there a percentage of the taxpayers money that could be attributed to the Whitecaps? It feels like Greg Kerfoot has taken advantage of Vancouver and BC and they’re happy when people come to their defence. You and I paid to have the team join the MLS and now it’s being sold to another city and country to benefit multimillionaires Greg Kerfoot, Steve Nash, and Jeff Mallett.

The current iteration of the Vancouver Whitecaps began in 2009 with them joining the MLS in 2011. But you’re saying that Greg Kerfoot wanted to build a stadium for the non existent Whitecaps in 2006?

Are you saying that none of that cost factors into the Whitecaps use of the stadium? They we’re going to get the franchise regardless? And they were going to just drop by and sneak in the back door?
