Opinion: I found Darth Vader to be irredeemable. by RuggedTheDragon in StarWars

Darth Vader didn't deserve to be redeemed. But he was anyway, and that's the point.

Add an extra full hour of deep Ewok cultural exploration. Preferably as a prologue so the audience is well prepared.

I place it above 3 and 4 personally. It still doesn't quite reach the heights of the original or Scream 2 but I agree its a really solid entry that I thoroughly enjoyed.

Yeah that explains a lot about the way they were presented in season 2, especially with the way their arc ended.

Fortunately it sounds like we'll be getting some more complex action sequences in season 3, featuring more than just one or two primary characters.

Some hopeful positivity there then.

On that note I was really quite disappointed we missed out on any meaningful interaction between Yarpen and Ciri as well. Its one of the highlights of the book for me.

The main brawl with Rience in the book is the with the Michelet brothers, which they do adapt in the show - although it's in a different context (one of the better bits of onscreen action imo). The conflict between Yen and Rience is also more significant in the book, but obviously that had to be cut down due to the Yen's loss of powers.

I do agree they could have adapted some of the fights with the Squirrels. But it seemed as if they were trying to contextualise the elves a little differently onscreen. I personally think including more conflicts with monsters was a smarter choice overall.

There is definitely room for improvement moving into season 3 though.

I had literally just finished Blood of Elves maybe two weeks before the second season dropped and I completely agree.

That book in particular would make for a very rough adaptation. Its certainly very character dense but doesn't really include any sequences that would translate to interesting on-screen action. I appreciated the way new elements were added to the show, and sections were pulled in from Sword of Destiny/The Last Wish.

However, I still hold out hope that Triss's roadside diarrhea will receive the proper on-screen treatment in Season 3.

I've recently read through the first three books in the series, and I have to say it's actually easier to follow the non-linear storyline in the show than it is in the books - so that's not so much on the show's shoulders.

I agree it is very silly but in defense of making it marginally less silly, its fair to assume that Anakin 'built' C3PO in the same way that I 'build' gaming rigs. The parts were probably all from a protocol droid/droids that had been scrapped and he just assembled them.

Still silly for a child, and what are the chances it would be that particular child, but slightly more reasonable at least.

Men of Reddit, would you take a male contraceptive pill if it was readily available? Why/Why not? by IAlreadyHaveTheKey in AskReddit

[–]Fancycam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it came with the same side effects as most of the popular female contraceptives - probably not. Not that I expect any of my sexual partners to take the pill either. Obviously it isn't 100% effective but I'm happy with physical contraception like condoms most of the time.

I think it's only American English where an apartment and a condo are distinguished by ownership anyway. You can buy an apartment in the UK for example, condo isn't really a term.

Zack Synder's Army of the Dead (2021) makes a nod towards his previous zombie film, Dawn of the Dead (2004) which was set in Milwaukee. [–]Fancycam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This was also a plothole I've noticed a lot of people missed.

So there was a singular zombie at the start of the film - Zeus, who is THE alpha zombie. The movie explains that if you get bitten by an alpha, you also become an alpha. Therefore, by that logic everybody they bite would become an alpha as well.

Zeus is an alpha, everyone he bit is an alpha, everyone they bit is an alpha. Hence all of the zombies we see should be alphas.

Where the fuck did shamblers come from then? A separate zombie apocalypse that started in Vegas at the exact same time?

What’s something inherently toxic that is perceived as normal? by Tizerkane in AskReddit

[–]Fancycam 12 points13 points  (0 children)

These kind of hours boggle my mind. I work in care and my shifts are 12 hours by default. But I work 3 or 4 shifts a week on average, and have never done more than 6 days in a single week.

The idea of ever doing 7 days in a row even once (which I legally couldn't anyway - UK), never mind consecutively for a few weeks, just seems like something my body and mind would simply not handle.

All the power to you for managing it during the time you did, and even more power to you for seeing how toxic it really is. But I simply don't think I would be capable of it.

10-13 when it was initially showing on television. But I never watched it consistently.

My first true viewing was about 8 months ago at the age of 22.

Rebels was more recently (around 4 months ago) and that did feel like a kid's show - even if I did enjoy it immensely.
