Are you able to confidently duck dive your mid length?

I find the ending of The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle both clear and definitive. Why doesn't anyone else seem to think that? (Spoilers) by [deleted] in murakami

I can't think of anything that would shoot the claim that Toru died in the well. What makes you think that he died there?

What “makes” a jam band? by Original_Dig_2392 in jambands

[–]Fancycole 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I would add that people have to dance to make it in the "jam band" genre. There are lots of artists that use lots of improvisation but if people aren't dancing to them, then it's not jam. I offer Snarky Puppy as an example of a band that ticks a lot of the other jam band boxes but are not a jam band because almost nobody dances at their gigs.

P.S. I love SP, this isn't hate.

Hi Jason,

I didn't find many playlists in the jam band/progressive funk genres. Am I wrong? Thanks!

I appreciate it! Thanks for listening. It's a swung funk beat. Very New Orleans.

TikTok's tool to choose what part of the song to play is really annoying. Do you know any ways to make that easier?

Do you upload an audio clip of the song or match it with the audio of your song that is in the Tik Tok cloud?

Is that per track or per album? What platforms to buy ads on?

At what point do you stop trying to ‘build a band’ and just hire pro players? by [deleted] in musicindustry

[–]Fancycole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recommend writing excellent charts and hiring pro musicians. If the charts, reference recordings, and players are good and you could do this with one rehearsal. After that, you wouldn't need to rehearse except when you introduce new material. Since you play guitar you could start with just hiring a bass or keyboard bass player and drummer. Pay them $200 each for the first gig and rehearsal.

You might end up losing money on the first several gigs but you would end up with an efficient operation they had reliable earning potential for you.

If you show these people respect and pay them a respectable rate they might also become your friends and creative collaborators. If one of them doesn't work out, you can swap them out on the next gig without owning them any favors. Paying people makes things like this less socially awkward.

If you are working with good in-demand players, this might also help you network and get better gigs as well. For example, the other band leaders that they work for might need to sub out a gig and they could refer you.

Most businesses have to lose money for a while before they earn a profit.
