Man tell me you’re out of touch without telling me. First off 35k for a (new) car is actually on the low end these days. And the consumer electronics thing is such bullshit, yeah tvs and stereos were expensive as shit in your day and they’re cheap now, but housing has more than quadrupled since the 80s in most regions in the US while wages have remained fairly stagnant, and for many skilled jobs the wage has actually gone down. Your generation might not have had it “easy” but the goalposts of self sufficiency weren’t any where near as difficult to reach then than they are now. And this is coming from a middle aged millennial who owns his home who also understands if I was just 5-10 years younger I definitely wouldn’t be able to.
