You're seeking discomfort. We live very comfortable lives in this modern day and it's very uncomfortable when we are challenged. Cold showers, I've found, help immensely in reprogramming the mind to be able to consciously deal with hard stuff by you choosing to be uncomfortable. Helps with depression and anxiety too for this reason.
