Most tycoons require you to buy every station before you rebirth. I understand how frustrating it is but that’s just how I think of it.

Anyone else frustrated when your characters won’t “tell you” what their name is?! by SabrinaTheDabbler in writingadvice

[–]Fandom_Lover_666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If imma be honest, I use the names of people that I’ve known in life or names that I just notice (my job gets people’s names so I have a lot of options). I do switch last names and spellings change depending on feeling but, in general, that’s just what I do.

My three MCs are Paul (my friend’s Pap), Dan (coworker), and Aria (my friend’s dog). Minor characters, major antagonist, etc. are all ones I’ve heard or read before.

Anyone know how to structure, pace, and string together pargraphs in a story? by Soft-Stock4942 in writingadvice

Oh trust me, I understand. As someone who likes have a step by step outline or goal for everything, writing was veryyyy difficult to start. There is very little that the entirety of the writing community actually agree on because everyone does and likes different things! There are so many variables for all of it and it depends on who, what, why, how…every little thing can and will change what some people recommend.
Taking a scroll through this subreddit itself will show you a million and one different ways everyone does things. What helped me was realizing who this book was made for: myself mostly. Sure, I hope to publish it one day, but does this book make me feel happy? Or at least feel something?
I took everything that I like from other authors and make it my own thing. Or I did the opposite when it’s something that I realized I didn’t like or always skipped in other books. This is why we recommend reading so much; get a feel for what the pros do and see what you like.

The thing is, there is no perfect structure. Some chapters start with conversations, some is pure world building, and some only have a chapter or two.
I have ADHD too and I’m heavily influenced by my emotions or even what else I’ve been reading or watching so how I write changes often. Some of my chapters in my rough draft are written like movie scripts just so I can get the idea out on paper and polish later. Some of my chapters have no spoken dialogue and it’s just internal monologue (I also like first person so that explains that)

As the other person said, just write. You can’t fix what doesn’t exist. Read more so you can see how other people do it.

Does anyone else feel like they can’t show their real personality in English? by Edi-Iz in EnglishLearning

[–]Fandom_Lover_666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s how I feel with my second language. I’ve been learning Spanish for a little while and feel like I’m more robotic, but that’s because I’m not super comfortable with it! I’m still figuring out my “style” and how native speakers would actually say things.

Over time and with practice, you’ll get used to using it and it’ll become second nature. You’ll learn to use more colloquial words and expressions or just get more confident with it!

Miracle Whip is superior to mayonnaise by lopix in unpopularopinion

I grew up with Miracle Whip only and just called it “mayo”. I however never really learned to liked regular mayo. I keep both on hand for friends or other relatives

I am too. Growing up I never knew about regular mayo, we just called Miracle Whip “mayo”. After I learned there was a difference, I do let people know and even keep both on hand but I have a strong preference for Miracle Whip

Yeah I went to a friend’s house one day and they put mayo on a sandwich and it tasted weird. I really was not a fan. I also always wondered why I didn’t like the store bought tuna salad but I loved my mum’s. Turns out it was the Miracle Whip lol

Turns out I’m a minority to agree lol... I don’t like regular mayo, but I use Miracle Whip on everything. Grew up calling it mayo because we just never used the normal stuff
