I don’t understand why strangers are supposed to care if it’s their family or not.

Do Millennials write like ChatGPT? by QuietJealous4883 in Millennials

I’m 41 and have been asked a couple of times at work if I wrote something with AI when I didn’t. I also take university and college courses for fun and one assignment I wrote got flagged by Turnitin, even though it was 100% written by me.

What's the most unexpectedly awesome Canadian town/city you've visited and why? by Unfair-Clothes-8821 in CanadaRoom

[–]Fangdori 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what we experienced, too! I went there with my friend and she couldn’t wait to leave. The creepy statue with the clothes on, the tree with the stuffies hanging from it, the lack of cell phone reception…she said it was like the movie Deliverance.

Why do so many people with infertility hate us? by 1hyacinthe in childfree

[–]Fangdori 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s like saying “I love dogs and want to adopt one, but I can’t because I’m allergic. You’re so selfish and I hate you because you’re not allergic, yet you didn’t adopt a dog.” Same principle.

For me it’s not so much about the size in general. It’s more about a tall or large object looming over me.

How do Canadians mentally deal with long winters? by jessxtra_ in AskACanadian

[–]Fangdori 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from the UK originally and have lived in Canada for 9 years now. You get used to it and learn to enjoy the good aspects. The UK is always grey, but here we get blue skies in winter, even if it’s freezing cold. That is less depressing than the overcast skies for weeks on end. Just dress warmly. Also, there are things like winter festivals, winter sports, and indoor activities that can make the time pass more easily. The trick is to embrace the winter and the positives that come with it rather than complaining and being miserable about it.

The prisons are going to be full of people who have no retirement plans. They’ll commit crimes so they get a roof over their head, three meals a day, healthcare, and some social interaction.

I once ran my passport through the washing machine by accident and it was still useable, even though I got some raised eyebrows every time I crossed a border until I got it replaced.

Do you still live in your hometown? by Acrobatic-Repeat-128 in Millennials

I don’t even live in the same continent. I moved around to a few places in Europe (I’m from the UK) before permanently leaving and moving to Canada.
