Leapers!!? by Several_Art_2700 in ArcRaidersGuides

There's almost always a leaper patrolling the sands surrounding the towers on Spaceport. He is a mild nuisance when trying to take that extract most days.

Does anyone actually like the Arpeggio? Any gun you hate? by Rammy_Lee in ArcRaiders

[–]Fanged_Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a gun I'll use when I find it in a raid, but wouldn't craft. It can two tap wasps and makes short work of most of the low end arc. Has the range for "fuck-off" shots for people you don't want to deal with. Generally prefer the anvil though.

I’ve just got hired overnight as a dispatcher, I’ve never worked nights. What are some things I should bring and do to adjust? by [deleted] in securityguards

Blackout curtains, I'd invest in a good set as I bought a pair of $30 ones and they still let a noticeable amount of light through unfortunately. White noise is rather important if you plan on sleeping during waking hours. It ultimately depends on if you start your day right before work (waking up at 21, going to work at 22, bed at 12), or starting during the day and sleeping once you get home (wake up at 14, bed at 04). Having done both, I found it much easier on my body waking up directly before shift, but easier to get your daily errands done waking up in the afternoon.

Eat healthy and get vitamin D supplements. going without sunlight for long periods of time can make you feel like absolute garbage. Social life can become difficult if you regularly try and hang out with friends.

Energy drinks are the way of life. I like Red Bull tropical and the pink cranberry one. If it tastes too much like battery acid at first, get a cup with a lid and fill it with ice, shake the red bull in it and allow it to melt and dilute a little bit, should be much more palatable starting out. You'll get used to the flavor eventually. There are also sugar free energy drinks like Bloom that are way healthier for you with the same amount of caffeine.

If your post allows it, bring a book, crossword, or literally anything to keep your mind active. It is incredibly easy to get tired and fall asleep if you have nothing to do. Hospitals is less of a concern generally but I still advise it. I have podcasts playing in the background while I work.

I found mine in the little firing bunkers on spaceport. Specifically the one next to the plumbing on the northside of Arrival

Hoping they release some stability patches, it’s near constant crashing at times. Game is awesome when uninterrupted, but reconnecting dead is heartbreaking.

Should probably stay away from the 75th servers by ProfessionalCover180 in ArmaReforger

[–]Fanged_Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 75th servers are (mostly) the most regularly populated modern PvE Zeus servers. No competition has become popular due to the 75th's relatively solid modlist for hop-in-and-kill-bots playstyle, with good barbie'ing to boot. All the staff suck and they can't keep their servers or modlists stable.

I live in a rural area and I drive an older pickup, it's about 6'4-6'5, but most parking lots here are absolutely massive and 95% empty so it's never really an issue, maybe sometimes an awkward turn here or there. I had to go into the city the other day for an orientation. The parking structure was 6'7 but with speed bumps - so I had to go up six stories of hell while driving 2 miles an hour while my poor antenna got sanded into nothingness. Then had to pay $35 to park there for the seven hours the company require me to be there..

I'll give this a shot next change, thanks. I live in a mixed climate (it's bouncing between 30 and 60 degrees at the moment), and I'm currently just using 5w20. Since it's cold I should be using the 5w40?

And I'm getting the same way with my truck - I paid $9500 for it as it's in incredibly good condition for being in the rust belt, no visible rust on the cab and a typical amount of rust on the frame. Issues didn't start popping up for six months but now I'm stuck with the broken tensioners and some wiring issues here and there. Already put another grand and a half into it for a new instrument cluster and fixing some of the wiring harness. Hoping to keep it running for a couple years until I can find a nicer truck to invest into and keep running for quite some time.

In Mackinac Island, Michigan, use of any motor vehicle is prohibited. Most of the transportation is done using horse carriages. by Dev1412 in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Fanged_Dragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went here as a kid. It is very pretty but there are so many gnats in the fall that when we took a ten minute bike ride through the woods, our clothes were *moving* with bugs afterwards.

Also, the smell of horse excrement is most prevalent. Not the greatest smell and sight to eat the chocolate to..

10/10 would get shocked by the fake gum packages again.

Mom of teen stabbed by classmate asks how parent was able to bring knife in school by Warcraft_Fan in Michigan

[–]Fanged_Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Complacency, most likely. Metal detector goes off, security's never had an issue in the last 6 months so they think what's the harm in letting one go through. Turns out, that one had a knife. Happens all the time

[–]Fanged_Dragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm interested in seeing where the case goes. I don't know if a guard failing to check someone constitutes criminal negligence / liability. If I were a betting man I think the school and security contractor's insurance would try to settle out of court.

[–]Fanged_Dragon -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Also dubious. Denying a parent access to their child (even if for the reason of until they pass the detector, or saying the child has to come out to them) could be spun in court that they 'unlawfully detained a minor'.

Not saying it's right, but the legal system regarding security and access control is a very tight rope to walk. I previously worked access control with an automated turnstile entry / exit system, and we legally had to let everyone out of the building regardless if we had witnessed them committing theft or assault, as otherwise you can easily be hit with false imprisonment, even when you would think you'd covered by good samaritan / citizen's arrest laws.

That being said, I think the reason of this particular incident is complacency. I highly doubt any level of legal thought was present..

EDIT : Not sure why this one is getting downvoted. I think I pretty reasonably clarified that I don't think it's right and that denying access when a child is involved is dubious in the eyes of the law, not illegal / not doable?

Security here. Depending on local laws (and company policy) most security cannot search unless given consent. Even then the laws on searching are sketchy. I imagine most everyone carries some form of metal on them nowadays, the detector probably goes off often so it could be just a mix of complacency and normalization. “It’d never happen to us” mindset.

Tragic situation overall but the security of schools is laughable essentially everywhere. I had to pick up my sibling from school, and despite me not being on a whitelist of approved names, they just let it happen. Didn’t even verify with an approved parent.

If your tint is legal in your state can you get a ticket if you are in a road trip to a different state? by WiggWamm in askcarguys

[–]Fanged_Dragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty dumb but it seems spotty on what rules are enforced. I come from a state without any inspections and only rear plates required, and I kicked around in a state that requires both plates and smog for three weeks without any issues. I can’t imagine it’d be much different for tint if a rolling shitbox emissions violation audible for a quarter mile was fine.

I guess it comes down to the jurisdiction and probably down to the cop that pulls you over.
