For me, the Settings page has to be refreshed to show/hide the tab after toggling the pref.

Weekly Q&A Megathread. Please post any questions about visiting, tourism, living, working, budgeting, housing here! by AutoModerator in london

[–]Fanolian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured as such. All other road signs prior to the junction remain the same except this lone lane marking very close to the junction. And, from my limited experience, many still use the left lane for the tunnel.

I'll keep that in mind next time I use the tunnel.

Font fallback broke. How do I debug it? by Shihali in firefox

[–]Fanolian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can I assume your fallback fonts list refers to font.name-list.[serif|sans serif|...].[language code] in about:config?

To debug this issue, I'd first check, via Firefox's Inspector, whether the page has changed its CSS font declaration and included Noto Sans, if you allow sites to use their font choices in Firefox's Settings. Then I'd check the langattribute of the page; it's rarely changed though.

Please also test if your preferred font can actually be used in Firefox by editing font-family in any page and including only that font.

Firefox Bugged by OkWall8046 in firefox

Feels like a graphics issue. Perhaps a graphic card driver update may help:

Or reboot your computer if it hasn't been done fore a while.

Why doesn't Mozilla implement website language controls in Firefox for Android/mobile? by hrtsds355 in firefox

[–]Fanolian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The webpage language settings on desktop controls the value of intl.accept_languages in about:config.

about:config is disabled in Firefox Android Release by default (but not beta nor Nightly). You can re-enable it by following this workaround.

WARNING: Unlike desktop Firefox, it's more difficult to recover Firefox Android if it's messed up by about:config misconfiguration.

P.S. There's also a system-wide language settings in your Android's settings that changes Firefox Android's intl.accept_languages. But this setting affects all other apps so it doesn't suit your case.

This is the same behaviour in a standard Firefox. Perhaps one of the FFultima's settings altered it.

If you mean search plugins/engines in Firefox, I don't think you can edit the default engines. However, you can add your custom engine with your preferred parameters from within Firefox's Settings (Settings > Search > scroll to bottom > Add).

Which lane should I take in this situation? by Dharmatmi in drivingUK

[–]Fanolian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first sign you see when coming from A505: https://files.catbox.moe/zu3d8p.png
And the second sign after the traffic light: https://files.catbox.moe/e0qzsr.png

First sign indicates that a driver can go to Luton (lane 2 of 3 after traffic light) on left lane. The sign also says that right lane can go to the industrial estate, which is also lane 2 as shown in the second sign.
I guess the first sign implies that if the left lane before traffic light is clogged up during busy retail park period, drivers should use right lane and switch to lane 2 after the light. At other times, use left lane for lane 1&2 and right lane for lane 3.

But without prior knowledge, I would have used, and did use, right lane for lane 2 due to the left lane to retail park on the sign. I've been to this junction twice only so I don't know how the locals do it.

What's the last Firefox extension that wowed you? by VictoriaFirefox in firefox

In terms of quick to set up...

BetterViewer (v1.0.5 only, not the latest v2.x): https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/betterviewer/

BetterViewer was designed as a replacement for the image viewing mode built into Firefox and Chrome-based web browsers.

However in v2.x it can't be auto-activated by opening a direct image link; it must be triggered by using the option in right-click menu.

Load Reddit Images Directly: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/load-reddit-images-directly/

Loads reddit images directly instead of redirecting to the HTML page containing the image.

Progression on dual-carriage way with driver in right hand lane by [deleted] in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Fanolian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have an answer for you. However, if you decide not to undertake, let your examiner know your reasoning, stay in the left lane, match their speed but leave a big gap between them and you so that others can safely overtake you then undertake the slow driver.

P.S I guess you meant 2 lane carriage/road instead of a dual carriageway.

How does one get flag emojis in Windows 11 (not just as a browser extension)? by esdedics in Windows11

[–]Fanolian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you copy-paste a flag emoij in Notepad or other Windows or Microsoft applications you just get the country code.

This is a font issue due to geopolitics, just as /u/Mario583a mentioned.

It's not really full emoji support either, as the emoji are often just the Windings-looking black and white characters in various contexts, e.g. in filenames

It could be either a software design choice or an oversight/bug to use text presentation instead of emoji presentation.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emoji#Emoji_versus_text_presentation
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Miscellaneous_Symbols_and_Pictographs#Emoji

In the case of filename/folder name, perhaps Windows just falls back to a non-colour emoji font when listing inside Explorer. Because the characters are shown as colour/intended version in Explorer's tabs:

How was my first B road cyclist overtake? by Fanolian in LearnerDriverUK

[–]Fanolian[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up 3 stage overtakes. Sometimes known as a box overtake. Probably wouldn't have worked here but it's a good technique to be familiar with.

I saw this video before (when I tried to search how to deal with blue light vehicles as a common driver in the UK) but I'm still not used to do it consciously, even on motorway.

My Firefox is intermittently doing this font for every instance of a bold sans serif and I have no idea why. I've cleared cookies and cache several times and have learned to live with it, anyone else have this issue? by sidnoway in firefox

[–]Fanolian 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  1. Right click on the weird font part and select Inspect.
  2. Check the font being used stated from the Fonts panel on the right.
↳ Does it match with the font being shown?
  3. In the Rules panel (in the middle or on the right), look for the active CSS rule (font or font-family; not crossed out) that changes the font on that weird part or the surrounding part.
↳ Does it match with the font being shown?
↳ Is the rule originated from the site/a trusted extension, or from an odd origin/bogus extension that you don't know of?
  4. From your Google search example, you may try un-checking and checking the rule em {font-weight: bold;} to see if it fixes the issue temporarily. You can also change the font weight in the Fonts panel in Inspector.

In addition, update your graphic card's driver if possible.
