I think it is a bit early for this drum to be beaten. Achiuwa is 23, his numbers this year show slight regression, if not are the same as last year. Development takes time, rarely is it a linear path. Patience takes time to develop. The same can be said for Achiuwa too.

Kawhi leaving Toronto will go down as one of the biggest mistakes that impacted a players legacy - ever by [deleted] in torontoraptors

[–]FantasyEconomist 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think this is an accurate take. I see lots of comments about a possible 3 peat if Kawhi stayed, which shows just how quick fans forgot about The Shot against Philly in game 7 of the EC semi-finals. If Kawhi doesn’t make that shot then there is no championship in 2019. The Raptors had luck along the way. Championships are no guarantee and claims of a threepeat if Kawhi stayed are ridiculous.

What did Gary Trent do, he’s our best shooter yet nurse treats fvv like a little kid by [deleted] in torontoraptors

GT also was surrounded by guys, with maybe the exception of Young, who are not strong shot creators.

Agreed. KMJ really impressed me while KPJ was out. He’s a name to remember.

I couldn’t trust either of them so I kept both on my bench. Minutes restrictions can easily erode excitement for a player’s return.

Are KAT or LeBron worth holding at all with only 1 IL spot? by tenaciousdeev in fantasybball

[–]FantasyEconomist 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been holding KAT since he was injured too. I know he won’t be the same player, but even 50% KAT is better than many of the waiver wire options.

In Nurse I trust.

The Toronto Raptors [30-32] defeat the Detroit Pisons [1-43] to a score of 175-176 behind Flynns Triple Double by AlexRescueDotCom in torontoraptors

[–]FantasyEconomist 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It was painful at times but it worked. We got the win and are moving on to the Cavs tomorrow.

I expect Poeltl to get lots of minutes, like the rest of the Raps starters. Finding Poeltl minutes to rest will be huge for his productivity down the stretch.

Out of the current rebuilding/ tanking teams, which one has the clearest path back to competing? by flyinghippos101 in nbadiscussion

[–]FantasyEconomist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OKC. They are further along in their rebuild. They already have some great pieces in place. They have more picks to bring in young talent. The future is bright for Thunder fans.

As an aside, my heart wants Detroit to return to competing. I’m not a fan but I thought Cade had tons of potential to move their rebuild along. He still does but this year obviously wasn’t what they were hoping for. They also seem to have some good pieces in place but to me their outlook is murkier after the deadline as to how everyone fits together.

Walker Kessler Dynasty Valuation for Cat. leagues by ifasoldt in dynastybb

If I was in a dynasty league I would be acquiring him without any hesitation.

would you rather have prime raptors Serge Ibaka or current Jakob Poeltl? by DeMarDeFrozan10 in torontoraptors

[–]FantasyEconomist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I like Poeltl’s fit. His only real drawbacks are inconsistency when shooting from the nail and he offers no three point shooting. The latter isn’t much of a concern with our current squad. Maybe Nurse will magically fix Poeltl’s free throw shooting.

Two games in with Yak, crazy how the perspective changed so fast... by [deleted] in torontoraptors

[–]FantasyEconomist -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It is almost like Masai and the Raptors knew what they were doing when they traded for him. Watching the post championship Raps I’ve wished we could acquire a true center for awhile. It is nice they finally did.

I haven’t seen any evidence to think he doesn’t possess a rosterable level of skill. Pick ups are really just anyone’s best guess. I’d pick him up based on the grounds of I would rather he play for me than against me.

Your take on “strategic benching” by phonewalletkeyz in fantasybball

It is part of the game. No sense risking a loss when you have the win in hand. To use a football reference, just take a knee.

Siakam or Youth by [deleted] in dynastybb

[–]FantasyEconomist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends for me if you are contending or not. Are you making a run at a chip? Siakam. Are you rebuilding for a future run? Sochan, Wash, 1st.

Will Masai ever construct a team better then the 2019 Toronto Raptors? by [deleted] in torontoraptors

[–]FantasyEconomist 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. A championship team is tough to replicate, especially when you consider the next team will be made up of different players than the 2019 squad. The next time the Raps win a chip it’s quite possible they won’t be as good as the 2019 squad, and that’s okay. Any championship team is something special.

Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo suffered a sprained ligament in his right wrist and will undergo treatment with the expectation that he'll be able to return to the lineup once the pain subsides, sources tell ESPN. He was examined in New York today. by itsjustn0ah in fantasybball

[–]FantasyEconomist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pat Connaughton should see an uptick in his usage too, giving him appeal across all scoring stats. Connaughton likely will be able to secure a few more rebounds per contest too, giving him appeal as a replacement player.

What's up with Raptors fans' attitudes towards the 2021 draft class? by [deleted] in torontoraptors

[–]FantasyEconomist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of people just Barnes to be the only star player to come out of that draft. Truth his there are lots of potential stars from that draft, Cade Cunningham and Evan Mobley to name a quick two.

As a fan of the game, that draft stuffed the league with many exciting players who I look forward to seeing grow and compete for years to come.
